Even reached Portugal and any country in between, any further and she would have made it to the Moon. I’m glad she put herself out there, took someone’s song and made it her own, and in my opinion, it was better than the original. So yeah, two thumbs up for this girl.
Mikayla please don’t judge your ‘worth’ on wether your ‘blood family ‘want you at home , lots of people have families that they don’t see/aren’t close to. None of mine have never really needed each other, its not a problem, just a fact of life. It would be nice to have a ‘Walton’ type family (your to young to remember lol) but i think its rarer than you imagine. You so remind me of my grandaughter facially and the same wisdom beyond her years , BUT she self harmed at 12-13 as she thought she was ugly (she’s a very pretty young lady) . You sound like you can overcome this , there are alot of people out here willing you on, believing in your talent and want to see you succeed, GO GIRL 👍🏻❤️
You have no idea what we, her family are like. I am her her mum and I am heartbroken that my little girl, who up until the day before her blind audition on the VOICE was my best friend in the entire world. I have been there every step of the way, from doctors appointments, psychiatrist appointments, dietician appointments, massages, chiropractor appointments, councelling sessions to try to help. I have also been to every sports day, school assembly, swimming carnival, volleyball game, tennis lesson, basketball game, been there for every busking session and every performance of her life. So who are you to judge me and my family when you know nothing about us. You will never know the pain we are going through.

I stumbled upon the blind audition video, and was entranced by how real the performance was. Then when you sang your original you did even better. Keep on , keeping on you will eventually catch a break your a great singer, and I know you will be successful talent like yours has to be seen.

I feel you so much, Mikayla. I had a horrible home life and was bullied at school. I spent most my youth wishing I didn't exist. I joined the Army to escape from home because I had nowhere else to go. It took me a long time to get over the pain that was so deeply ingrained in me. But I did it. I'm in my 40's now - married and finally happy. I've had an exciting life... at many times painful, but certainly interesting and adventurous. And to be honest, I wouldn't take any of it back. I hope so much that you find a good place. That you find happiness inside you and goodness around you.

It may sound cliche to say you are young and have your whole life ahead of you.... but it's true. When I was 14 my sister died in an accident at the age of 19. A few years down the road another of my sisters died young, got a diagnosis of a cancerous brain tumor and it took her in two weeks time. So my counsel to you is this, that was then... this is now..... you are lovely to look at, have natural charm, talent..... make no comparisons of yourself with anyone else. Bullies or not. Move slowly forward, making careful decisions with your head and heart connected and you will be fine.

Hi Mikayla, I have recently discovered you completely by accident. Your first audition showed up in my feed and I’m so glad it did. You had a four chair turn which is no easy thing to accomplish. Then I started watching your other videos and I was under the impression that you didn’t think very highly about yourself, and wondered... what could make this talented beautiful young woman feel that she isn’t good enough? Then I saw this video.. I’m speechless 😶, I don’t know you personally, but I have a 19 year old daughter and I keep thinking there is nothing she could ever do to make me stop loving her. You not having your family in your life is heartbreaking to me, and I’m so sorry for you going through this alone. From what I have had the privilege of witnessing, you are an amazingly talented and beautiful young woman. Don’t you ever settle! You Are good enough! I can tell you it does get better but there will always be ups and downs. You're a very special person and you'll find your way. Just keep music close to your heart, it has always helped me. My name is Marian, I am Mikayla's mum. I just want to set the record straight, Mikayla was never kicked out of home ! Her oldest brother and myself were all set to go to the blind auditions for the Voice with Mikayla only to be told the day before we were due to go that she didn't want us there. This was the most devastating day of my life. Mikayla has never gone without anything in her life and has a loving family who have always been there for her. To see this video was absolutely heartbreaking. It is a typical case of a teenager rebelling against rules when living at home. Her blood family has always been there and supported her with everything she has done. I am so angry to think that all of you viewing this think she has had a hard life but nothing could be further from the truth. I will never stop loving my daughter but am also so angry that she has pulled the wool over everyone's eyes to the point where she has been taking money from strangers on her go fund me account rather than working and earning the money herself, which believe me she is more than capable than doing. I hope one day she grows up and realizes she hasn't been hard done by and has been given every opportunity to succeed by people that love her so much.

I am writing to you from the Rocky Mountains in the USA. I saw your Voice audition on RUclips. Maybe ten seconds in, I paused it and searched for a pen to write your name. I am a sloppy writer, but I wrote your name down so very precisely and neatly. It was immediately clear to me that you are a 10 on a scale of 10 for the beauty of your voice and the ability to make people feel the emotions of the song. I will be searching the web for videos from you. But hope you stick to your guns, and do them when you damn well please. And as to the pain of your personal challenges, the oldest known written thought is, "This too shall pass". And, while time on your own may be needed now, you and your blood family can always reunite in future (perhaps on your terms, not theirs)

It's difficult to cope with outside issues that are beyond your control. As a Father of 3, I can not believe a parent would kick out there child. If there's more to this (the other side of the story), I'd like to know the details. Barring that, I stumbled on this after watching your audition video about 10 times. I hope you are able to find a support system that helps you focus on what's in front of you. From experience, if you keep reminding yourself of negatives, you never move, you never get better. I’ve learned something through a lot of hardships that family is a word that comes with responsibility. It’s a title society likes to just hand out because you started in some place at some time. In reality family is the people you surround yourself with that raise you up, support you, comfort you, and accept you as you are. You have all rights to make your own family and to be happy in your surroundings. More people need to understand they shouldn’t have to make excuses because the family you were given decides to fail at their responsibilities of that title. That is their problem not yours.

So sorry to hear all of your troubles - I didn't realise all your dramas started just before your Blind Auditions, Mikayla - it makes it even MORE amazing that you performed so well and with so much poise and courage as you did under those circumstances. Singing/songwriting/performing can be very cathartic, so hopefully you can keep going with this part of your being, as you are so talented and have so much to offer to all your fans and subscribers. These times are obviously a bit testing now, but there will be light at the end of the tunnel, have no doubt. Pretty sure there are a lot of people out there who love you and only want the best for you and want to know you are OK - bridges can always be mended with time and time is a great healer. Extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews etc) can also be a great solace too in times like these, as they can see things from a different perspective sometimes which may be a help and comfort. And there's Kai too of course, so you've got him to lean on as well. Stay strong and look after yourself - there are better times ahead !
That's great news, Sonya - hope you can catch up with her soon. She seems to have had a tough time of things lately as you can tell, but she seems to be a tough character too. Hang in there Mikayla. Don’t look at your blood family as being gone forever. They will come and go and come and go in your life. It’s a bit shit at times. It’s important that you surround yourself with really good people (friends and inspirational people). Your journey is just yours. You can’t control it but you can make it positive, fulfilling and well the sky is not a limit. Take risks, be courageous, and willingly throw yourself out of your comfort zones because there’s so much out there to learn. My own motto is “never stop learning”. I’m here if you need to connect. Mikayla, what you don't know, because of your age is that it's not the wins that make you who you are, it's the losses. It's the time that you look and wonder to yourself, ok, I just lost everything, or I think I just lost everything what the hell do I do now? In 2009 I was blown up in Afghanistan. I had already been shot in the chest twice and blown up 7 times previously, but this bomb hurt me. I ended up with my neck broken, and numbness down both arms, my low back and hips torn that I had numbness down both legs, both of my shoulders were torn, my left knee was torn, my vision was messed up and I had a traumatic brain injury. I went from running every day to barely being able to walk. The depression was what really surprised me. The total lack of desire to go on living, even though I just had a daughter while I was in Afghanistan. My career was over. My physical ability was ruined, and all I could do is sit around and think about everything I lost, not the things I still had. I had not walked farther than a mile, but a friend suggested we do the Bataan Memorial Death March. A marathon, and one of the most difficult marathons in the U.S. Even though i knew this was going to hurt, I agreed and we signed up. When it was time to go do the Marathon, my friend was sick, so I went alone. When the race official saw me, they told me to be realistic about my chances of finishing the race. By now I was mad, I asked the official if they had body bags? (The race is on a military base), the official said yes they did. I told him good, because either i was going to cross the finish line, or he could carry me across in a bag, but either way I was going to cross that line. It took me twelve hours, I almost overdosed on my pain meds, but I crossed that line under my own power. Later that night it took me 45 minutes using two canes to cross a basketball gym floor to get to the bathroom. When I got home, I was in bed for 6 weeks, but the race official that told me to be realistic about finishing the race, was there when I crossed. I still have problems, but now I look at them differently, I attack them differently, and everytime someone tells me I can't do something, I figure out how to prove them wrong.

Mikayla please don’t judge your ‘worth’ on wether your ‘blood family ‘want you at home , lots of people have families that they don’t see/aren’t close to. None of mine have never really needed each other, its not a problem, just a fact of life. It would be nice to have a ‘Walton’ type family (your to young to remember lol) but i think its rarer than you imagine. You so remind me of my grandaughter facially and the same wisdom beyond her years , BUT she self harmed at 12-13 as she thought she was ugly (she’s a very pretty young lady) . I am her her mum and I am heartbroken that my little girl, who up until the day before her blind audition on the VOICE was my best friend in the entire world. I have been there every step of the way, from doctors appointments, psychiatrist appointments, dietician appointments, massages, chiropractor appointments, councelling sessions to try to help. I have also been to every sports day, school assembly, swimming carnival, volleyball game, tennis lesson, basketball game, been there for every busking session and every performance of her life. So who are you to judge me and my family when you know nothing about us. You will never know the pain we are going through.

I feel you so much, Mikayla. I had a horrible home life and was bullied at school. I spent most my youth wishing I didn't exist. I joined the Army to escape from home because I had nowhere else to go. It took me a long time to get over the pain that was so deeply ingrained in me. But I did it. I'm in my 40's now - married and finally happy. I've had an exciting life... at many times painful, but certainly interesting and adventurous. And to be honest, I wouldn't take any of it back. I hope so much that you find a good place. That you find happiness inside you and goodness around you.

It may sound cliche to say you are young and have your whole life ahead of you.... but it's true. When I was 14 my sister died in an accident at the age of 19. A few years down the road another of my sisters died young, got a diagnosis of a cancerous brain tumor and it took her in two weeks time. So my counsel to you is this, that was then... this is now..... you are lovely to look at, have natural charm, talent..... make no comparisons of yourself with anyone else. Bullies or not. Move slowly forward, making careful decisions with your head and heart connected and you will be fine.

Then I started watching your other videos and I was under the impression that you didn’t think very highly about yourself, and wondered... what could make this talented beautiful young woman feel that she isn’t good enough? Then I saw this video.. I’m speechless 😶, I don’t know you personally, but I have a 19 year old daughter and I keep thinking there is nothing she could ever do to make me stop loving her. My name is Marian, I am Mikayla's mum. I just want to set the record straight, Mikayla was never kicked out of home ! Her oldest brother and myself were all set to go to the blind auditions for the Voice with Mikayla only to be told the day before we were due to go that she didn't want us there. This was the most devastating day of my life. Mikayla has never gone without anything in her life and has a loving family who have always been there for her. To see this video was absolutely heartbreaking. It is a typical case of a teenager rebelling against rules when living at home. Her blood family has always been there and supported her with everything she has done. I am so angry to think that all of you viewing this think she has had a hard life but nothing could be further from the truth. I will never stop loving my daughter but am also so angry that she has pulled the wool over everyone's eyes to the point where she has been taking money from strangers on her go fund me account rather than working and earning the money herself, which believe me she is more than capable than doing. I hope one day she grows up and realizes she hasn't been hard done by and has been given every opportunity to succeed by people that love her so much.

I am writing to you from the Rocky Mountains in the USA. I saw your Voice audition on RUclips. Maybe ten seconds in, I paused it and searched for a pen to write your name. I am a sloppy writer, but I wrote your name down so very precisely and neatly. It was immediately clear to me that you are a 10 on a scale of 10 for the beauty of your voice and the ability to make people feel the emotions of the song.

It's difficult to cope with outside issues that are beyond your control. As a Father of 3, I can not believe a parent would kick out there child. If there's more to this (the other side of the story), I'd like to know the details. Barring that, I stumbled on this after watching your audition video about 10 times. I hope you are able to find a support system that helps you focus on what's in front of you. From experience, if you keep reminding yourself of negatives, you never move, you never get better. Easier said than done. Trust me, hours become days and days become weeks. Stay focused and SHINE!

I’ve learned something through a lot of hardships that family is a word that comes with responsibility. It’s a title society likes to just hand out because you started in some place at some time. In reality family is the people you surround yourself with that raise you up, support you, comfort you, and accept you as you are. You have all rights to make your own family and to be happy in your surroundings. More people need to understand they shouldn’t have to make excuses because the family you were given decides to fail at their responsibilities of that title. That is their problem not yours.

So sorry to hear all of your troubles - I didn't realise all your dramas started just before your Blind Auditions, Mikayla - it makes it even MORE amazing that you performed so well and with so much poise and courage as you did under those circumstances. Singing/songwriting/performing can be very cathartic, so hopefully you can keep going with this part of your being, as you are so talented and have so much to offer to all your fans and subscribers. These times are obviously a bit testing now, but there will be light at the end of the tunnel, have no doubt. Pretty sure there are a lot of people out there who love you and only want the best for you and want to know you are OK - bridges can always be mended with time and time is a great healer. Extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews etc) can also be a great solace too in times like these, as they can see things from a different perspective sometimes which may be a help and comfort. And there's Kai too of course, so you've got him to lean on as well. Stay strong and look after yourself - there are better times ahead !

That's great news, Sonya - hope you can catch up with her soon. She seems to have had a tough time of things lately as you can tell, but she seems to be a tough character too. And so much talent on top of all that. I truly hope she realises how good she is - her subscriber base is testament to that, I reckon.

Hang in there Mikayla. Don’t look at your blood family as being gone forever. They will come and go and come and go in your life. It’s a bit shit at times. It’s important that you surround yourself with really good people (friends and inspirational people). Your journey is just yours. You can’t control it but you can make it positive, fulfilling and well the sky is not a limit. Take risks, be courageous, and willingly throw yourself out of your comfort zones because there’s so much out there to learn. My own motto is “never stop learning”.

Mikayla, what you don't know, because of your age is that it's not the wins that make you who you are, it's the losses. It's the time that you look and wonder to yourself, ok, I just lost everything, or I think I just lost everything what the hell do I do now? In 2009 I was blown up in Afghanistan. I had already been shot in the chest twice and blown up 7 times previously, but this bomb hurt me. I ended up with my neck broken, and numbness down both arms, my low back and hips torn that I had numbness down both legs, both of my shoulders were torn, my left knee was torn, my vision was messed up and I had a traumatic brain injury. I went from running every day to barely being able to walk. The depression was what really surprised me. The total lack of desire to go on living, even though I just had a daughter while I was in Afghanistan. My career was over. My physical ability was ruined, and all I could do is sit around and think about everything I lost, not the things I still had.
I had not walked farther than a mile, but a friend suggested we do the Bataan Memorial Death March. A marathon, and one of the most difficult marathons in the U.S. Even though i knew this was going to hurt, I agreed and we signed up. When it was time to go do the Marathon, my friend was sick, so I went alone. When the race official saw me, they told me to be realistic about my chances of finishing the race. By now I was mad, I asked the official if they had body bags? (The race is on a military base), the official said yes they did. I told him good, because either i was going to cross the finish line, or he could carry me across in a bag, but either way I was going to cross that line. It took me twelve hours, I almost overdosed on my pain meds, but I crossed that line under my own power. Later that night it took me 45 minutes using two canes to cross a basketball gym floor to get to the bathroom. When I got home, I was in bed for 6 weeks, but the race official that told me to be realistic about finishing the race, was there when I crossed. I still have problems, but now I look at them differently, I attack them differently, and everytime someone tells me I can't do something, I figure out how to prove them wrong.

You have a beautiful voice, so stay strong. And yes she's all the negitive from your surroundings even if it's family. I know it can be hard but sometimes it has to done to maintain a Happy Healthy Life. You can do this you are stronger than the situation.
