Is it just me or does anyone else think it is just despicable that you basically have beg to be deemed worthy before you can spend your money on something at Hermes?
I know many many people think this but it's all in how you look at it and I try to see it from all angles. The way I see it, Hermes doesn't care at all about 'worthiness' they care about maintaining their brand elusivity, marketing, and their bottom dollar. So if that means that they can get customers purchasing from other categories (what Hermes refers to as 'Metiers') such as home wear (dishes, pillows) fine jewelry (solid gold, watches) silks (scarfs, ties, twillies) beauty (perfume, makeup), ready to wear, equestrian, etc. if they can get a customer who is only interested in one category (leather handbags) and enable them to spend their money on other categories (where most brands loose money on these categories such as ready to wear) then they have created a very lucrative marketing model and then that plays into the 'exclusivity' that is created by holding back the amount of Birkins and Kellys that they sell. Most customers are only allowed to purchase 2 bags per year, so it really has nothing to do about Hermes giving bags to people who 'they are deemed worthy' but entirely on a model that has hundreds of analysts pin pointing how to create more demand for their most wanted items while selling their least wanted items. As a customer who wants a Kelly right now, it’s an inconvenience this model and a ‘game’ as some people refer to it that many refuse to play. If we want a Birkin or Kelly immediately and refuse to play the Hermes game, then we have to pay a premium for the bag on the second hand market.
Specially when you can buy it second hand from reputable boutiques. I think they are trying to avoid becoming Gucci… Yes, Hermes is expensive but “expensive” doesn’t mean “Luxury” anymore. Maybe 50 years ago when people didn’t have access to credit cards (or instante loans like affirm) It was impossible to get a “luxury” bag if you weren’t rich, but nowadays you just need to be able to make monthly payments. Doing this “waiting list” is the last resource they have to keep their “status”.
Same thoughts! It might interest other rich people, but if I have the money I don't want to beg for something I can afford. Like if they don't give me what I want I would go for the preloved route instead. It's only a bag and it's the least thing I'd like to worry about lol.
I feel it too. The whole concept is bullshit, pretentious and what breaks my heart people have fallen in the trap to prove their worth as if without an Hermes bag they are nothing. Bullllshit
Thank you so much for your kind comment, it's really motivating to hear and I hope to keep putting out more videos. I love filming so much but it takes a lot of time to edit. 🙏🏼💗
Imagine having to basically interview and get on a waitlist for a purse.. Are people wanting the actual bag or only wanting it so people see them carrying it? Not downing anyone for wanting one btw just can’t wrap my mind around it..
Through connections I offered a friend of mine who’s been wanting a Kelly for the longest time a quick way to get the bag directly from Hermes even though she’s not on their client list with zero history and she refused saying she wants to be on Hermes waiting list because as a clientele she’ll feel special 🙄.. really sad
You are wearing that gorgeous beret, I love it, your bag is absolutely luscious, a fabulous bag, shoes is your calling card, of course followed by a power coat/jacket, another awesome show
There are plenty of Kelly style bags that are just as nice as the Hermes. I can't stand their marketing approach to purchasing their bags. I refuse to buy thousands of dollars worth of "stuff" to qualify as a member in good standing.
I heard basically they ask you if you if you are interested in a bag if they have it in stock when you make a connection or if you flat out ask they might or might not. I am very not into the Hermes game of you might or might not get one. But if you love it you love it ✨
Why do people open up their kelly bags like that?! Very strange because it looks like a cookie monster chopping as they walk down the street. There's a way to have your kelly easily accessible without leaving it open with the straps flying around. Anyway, if you're willing to fly to get a bag many people are having success in Mexico on their first try but the colors are limited.
I loved this vlog!! Thank you for taking us along with you ❤ 💕 I have a question...can you please explain to me why are Hermes bags so difficult to buy? Are they selective who they sell to?
Thank you! They are not selective to who they sell to, in terms of appearance etc, what they care about is they want a customer who is buying from many categories at Hermes vs a customer who walks in and only wants a Birkin or Kelly. Hermes wants customers purchasing from other categories (what Hermes refers to as 'Metiers') such as home goods (dishes, pillows, blankets) fine jewelry (solid gold, watches) silks (scarfs, ties, twillies) beauty (perfume, makeup), clothes, shoes, equestrian, etc. Hermes offers their customers to purchase their Birkins and Kellys to those customers who buy from multiple categories vs a customer who buys nothing and just asks for a Birkin or Kelly. Although there are exceptions and rare occasions where Hermes has sold a Birkin or Kelly to a first time customer walking in and asking for a Birkin (so it is possible to get a Birkin or Kelly without buying from other categories but it’s pretty rare). By getting customers to buy from these other categories, which are much less popular, Hermes is being clever to get a customer who normally wouldn’t be interested in home goods but are now buying Hermes pillows so that they can get a Birkin. Hermes tries to create more demand for their most wanted items while selling their least wanted items. Their marketing plan is to keep their brand ‘exclusive’ and Birkins and Kellys highly sought after, they do this by limiting the amount of bags they sell. Most customers are only allowed to purchase 2 bags per year. For a customer who wants to buy a Birkin right now, it’s an inconvenience this model of buying from other categories and a ‘game’ as some people refer to it that many refuse to play. If we want a Birkin or Kelly immediately and refuse to play the Hermes game, then we have to pay a premium for the bag on the second hand market which is usually more than double the price of a Birkin in store. Hope this helps.
@@jeckellstallworth I find it pretty interesting, I wish I could just walk in and buy one though, although I bet if we could all do that the demand wouldn't be there and people wouldn't want to get one as much. I wonder though what would actually happen!

I've never been to the meat packing location, I definitely want to check that one out (I used to think there were only the two locations, Madison and Financial District). I am going to head to IG and look at your new babe 🎉
It’s a misconception that Hermes bags are so expensive. My Hermes Birkin was $11,500 Canadian (before tax) from the boutique this past September (which is roughly $9060 USD). If you get them from the boutique, Hermes bags are less than a large/jumbo size Chanel classic flap bag which are over 10K now. Birkins or Kellys are only $38k on the resale market and usually only for exotics, If you wanted to get a black birkin or Kelly it would be about $22k USD (almost double retail) but no where near 68K. Anyone with a full time job can save $10K if they were very frugal if they want to spend their money on that, not the wisest financial move but it’s up to them. If you make $50K a year, it’s no problem, and many people are making six figures especially if you’re living in a big city like Toronto, Vancouver, San Francisco, etc. If you're motivated to make money, there are so many great positions open now, companies looking to hire, you can get a great paying job and make good money depending on what industry you want to work in. There's lots of exciting opportunities right now.

The only reason I was wearing a mask outdoors that day was because it was freezing, minus -15 degrees celsius, it was so cold, and the mask was like an extra scarf to keep my face warm. If I see people wearing a mask outside it's probably because they/I just left or are about to enter a store that has a mandatory mask policy and since it was the winter when I filmed this it's faster to just keep it on for the 2 minutes you're walking outside and it keeps you warm when it's below 0 if you forgot your scarf or it's extra cold.
