You need to be careful with over the air DTV channels, the aspect ratios are often messed up and vary per channel. Seems like you need to adjust the zoom, or change from letterbox to pan and scan, etc for every other channel these days. A few years back, one of the guys who collects salesman samples had one of these (or a model similar to it) "for sale" at the local flea market/antique show...for an absurd price. Papa Shango is truly the master of vintage television resurrection when he starts in with his television diagnostic powers that TV will come back to life like Lazarus from the dead. I myself have several vintage CRT televisions, two of them still live but the picture on one needs adjustment CRT based televisions are basically electron accelerators. They boil off electrons from a filament and accelerate them using high voltage. When the electrons hit the color grates inside the picture surface of the tube they come to an abrupt stop. When any charged particle comes to an abrupt stop it emits electromagnetic radiation. The higher the speed of the particle and the faster it stops the higher the frequency of emitted radiation. Some Old CRT televisions may impart enough energy to the electrons so that when they stop the electrons emit X-rays, hence the stickers regarding x-ray. In fact old X-ray machines created x-rays by accelerating electrons and have them stop abruptly by striking a metal block.

What i do with my old 80 analog crt tv is something that discovered by coincidence. Composite to rf modulator ( or vhs player) connected to HDMI to composite. Then i put my Chromecast and bum, youtube and streaming in old school way
I'm genuinely interested, I've watched several of your videos now - great content, very informative and super cool to see all of these vintage products. But my question is: why don't you blow the dust out of things? Is it to prevent dust from getting into the CRT? Wouldn't components last longer if they didn't have a layer of dust preventing proper heat dissipation, or does it not really matter that much? Thanks!
If your video signal is from satellite or cable, look for a "picture size" or "aspect ratio" adjustment on the remote and switch it to 4:3. That might fix the overscan problem.

And you Dog'ed The USA, But then it was 70's when We Copied there Shitty Builds..Then it is Given to me in the mid 80's For my Atari 2600 and Atari 400 unit, then was Moded for my RCA 1802 COSMAC VIP Kit..
Great Saturday Morning with Shango Get your savings at ROSS and use Plexaderm and look centuries younger. Wonder if the RCA would look like new. Love my Saturday mornings with Shango. Thanks for making these videos about the only good thing on tv these days. Take care Mike
I remember RCA factory in Mooretown, NJ near my old apt. route 38. I know RCA has a plant called "Missle and Surfacwe Radar" in 1979, I applied for Engineering work at RCA aftert graduation.
Just like sticker on some audio board: "Proud to say Made in USA"🤣
Super cute mini console-style TV. Would love me one of those even though I'm not into tube electronics. I'm geared more towards transistors and IC's.
Papa Shango is truly the master of vintage television resurrection when he starts in with his television diagnostic powers that TV will come back to life like Lazarus from the dead.
I myself have several vintage CRT televisions, two of them still live but the picture on one needs adjustment
CRT based televisions are basically electron accelerators.
Every French-speaking person when they hear “Creep Erase” 😨
Ahhh! Better late than never, by a whole 37 minutes!
My guess would be 1969 1970 I had seen a zenith that was hybrid full size console
5.21 That's 1001 one thousand one.. sorry for judging 😅
This was so great! I loved your commentary on the skincare products 😂🤣. It’s an old commercial they just keep running. Jane Seymour doesn’t look that young anymore on her current Irish tv show called Harry Wild. Either that or she quit using crepe erase! 😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂
It’s a nice little set, like my little Sears 70’s B&W set I saved from the garbage when a friend’s grandfather was cleaning out their garage. It’s a solid state and works great! 😀
Looking at the thumbnail I'm glad to see there are still people who take protection against the coronavirus serious. Or is it just that the Crépe Erase® ads made him a bit self conscious?
Maybe or it could be a reference to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, if you want to call it that
Nice looking set. Works with the help of CrepeErase consultants. 4 tubes and compactrons make for an appealing design.
You crack me up!! "My marionette lines" and "Moisten my décolleté" Hahhahahhahaha
Bit late to this party but what a awesome TV. I've been subscribed and watching Shango for years and only just realised that Shango sounds like Jello Biafra! It must be that classy Californian accent.
I don't care about getting a copyright strike. If I did a TV video and Ozzy comes on, I'm cranking the volume
btw congrats on the great TV pickup, thats a classy set my man.
Would you/could you ressurect a very old tube table top radio? I’d greatly appreciate it!
Shango did 2 console radios, one was CO OP radio or COOP.
The other radio was a Patterson.
He does many table radios. The Grundig radio was most complicated
He has a Mining video,
Lookup "shango066 Running Witte Engine"
@@mike289homebuilt5 hey Mike! I was asking shango066 if he would ressurect/restore my radios?!?! I have 2 that are very old and special to me. I’d greatly greatly appreciate it
The old reach around
4:30 wow that circuit board is curved! And I don't even know why. Unlike the inverter I bought where the circuit board wasn't correctly fit it into the track maybe it popped out during shipping. I can explain that one in the TV wow.
The boob that took the speaker out probably removed the chassis and then lost/broke/forgot to put the board support pieces back in.And although the picture tube says USA and some of the tubes- do too-more likely it was made in Japan by Hitachi or Korea by Sammy Sung
19:53 "so all we did"? who's "we" the one guy in his garage working on a television? This mechanic I watch on RUclips is always "we" did this and "we" did that when he's by himself working fixing stuff. There's no "we" ok
Looking at the thumbnail of this video, I had to decide if you are the invisible man, in a witness protection program, or just a new ISIS recruit. Tough choice.
Such a sharp picture! Very rare to see something from this era and this amount of use (see the on/off switch) having a picture this nice. I wonder if you'll ever find a TravLer TV in such nice condition to show us. My grandfather had an early 1950s one when I was a kid, but unfortunately it was pretty much just for decoration, as a reminder of his first tv set. He passed in 2007 and by that time I was not able to fix it and it ended up in the trashcan after termites pretty much terminated it.
This is a very cool tv, I love it! and it is really nice to watch the "brain erase" commercials...
Yeah I hear you. I keep a CRT tv it goes well with the decor in the rest of the room. It is never used though. Only garbage on tv.
