I worked on this programme - a true pleasure to have spent nearly a month there filming. I have so many happy memories and the film really doesn't do the scenery true justice.

I've just got back from a holiday that took us to the White Pass Line. It's 40 years since we filmed the documentary, but this time I took my husband and we spent a week in Whitehorse along with travelling on the train again. Such fabulous scenery! Whitehorse has grown, but not a great deal of difference to Carcross and Skagway. So pleased I went back. @@polythenewrappedme6102

Thank You for posting this BBC episode. There are a lot of great moments to be seen, the station in Whitehorse, the blue livery scheme on the diesels and the container freight mixed train at the end. The BBC has always done great documentaries and although the quality of the footage is not great by modern standards, it is still a very important part of history.

An excellent documentary with superb scenery. Love it! Steve Hites is great. A real character and so passionate about the railway.

I have met Steve Hites, he owns a bus company now. Still lives in Skagway.

If I'm right then this is the last film that was made about the White Pass & Yukon route before it closed as a revenue Freight hauling Railroad

It is reopened for passengers, but between Skagway and Carcross only. There is a Portuguese Tram at Whitehorse.
