I have never been so happy to be wrong. Ngannou won this fight, the only argument to see Fury even drawing it was his forward pressure and activity. Francis absolutely landed the better shots and defended almost everything he threw. Incredible performance, and I think Francis with this performance might be the best heavyweight UFC champion of all time. Hear me out: Francis would have obliterated Jon Jones, and Jones knew it; that’s why he ducked him for three years. He beat Stipe in their rematch easily and canceled out his wrestling, and if he had continued training in MMA, he would have likely beat every wrestler in the division with even just his raw strength. He’s only getting better and he’s 37. How many dudes in combat sports history can beat the best fighter in a completely different sport in 3 months of camp and do it going the distance while keeping his cardio.

Boxing got embarrassed tonight. It’s all about money and politics. Boxers have padded records to keep their 0 and try to get the W with the least amount of effort possible. Fighters that favor the sport always got the edge in judging. Matchmaking takes ages and there are way to many promotions, way to many weight classes and way to many champions. The world “world champion” lost it’s meaning. Pro cards are handed out like candy. Bunch of youtube and tiktok clowns are getting more ppv than actual champions. Fights are rigged, production of events are as awful as it gets. It’s just a circus, nothing less…

Francis Ngannou is an absolute legend. This is NOT an embarrassment for boxing, but rather a testament to the absolute LEGEND that is Francis Ngannou. As a casual fan of both boxing and mma, and as someone who loves both Ngannous and Fury, I will be the first to admit I did NOT expect Francis to outbox Tyson Fury. I thought he might win with a hard, heavy punch that was perfectly timed... but his use of the jab, his control of the pace, his ability to frustrate and parry Tyson's jab, and his confidently stuffing all of Tyson's power shots made be a believer in Ngannou as a boxer! Let us never forget boxing was his first love, even if he never fought professionally. As a fan of both boxing and mma, I really hope that we see some boxers start to learn some fundamentals of grappling and enter the octogon as well. Unlike many others, I don't think Fury or Wilder would make terrible MMA fighters IF they had the right training and time to prepare. Let's get more of the crossover matches in both directions! I think this would be great for combat sports all around. But yes. I 100% agree about the annoying spectacle that is the lead-up to a boxing match. Nobody cares about the musical sideshows or the walkout. Not only is it unnecessary, but as you correctly assert, it often detracts from all the undercards, and further stifles their careers since they are criminally underpromoted in so many cases.

As a fan of both sports I unfortunately can say that fury won by two rounds maybe three simply due to the fact that boxing’s scoring system is shit.
knockdowns in boxing give you a 10-8 round win instead of a 10-9 round win so it just gives one extra round win effectively and doesn’t dictate the scoring of the fight at the end other than that.
Fury won like 6 rounds by just jabbing and doing nothing but absorbing big hits.
In boxing a guy can get beaten badly for 5 straight rounds and just run around the ring and jab for seven rounds and will be given the win.

@terrellewilliams2188 thank you bro. He definitely COULD beat Jones. But he isn't UNBEATABLE. Recency bias is the most annoying thing in combat sports

SO HAPPY for Francis. Big $$ and he did incredibly well. Also knew there was no way the judges would give it to Francis with the Dec 23rd Usik fight in the works. It would wreck the hype. Grabbed a piece of Fury at +100 odds round 10.
Francis made more $$ in ONE NIGHT than Khamzat will make in the next 3+ years with his 20 million contract for seven fights.

That fight at best is a draw. Nganou embarassed Fury and 99% of boxers having in mind Tyson beat top fighters in the past 10 years.

Ngannou punch is not that heavy for boxing, it’s maybe on level of some average top 15 boxers, but it’s funny that Fury was uncomfortable with Ngannou technically

Fury really damaged boxing to a degree where it’s embarrassing to be a fan of the sport and as die-hard who isn’t a Tyson Fury fan, I wanted Ngannou to pull a miracle and he did that!
Boxing might not be as clear and concise as MMA but there are plenty of boxers that represent the sport better than Fury ever will but they get put way under the radar due to the lack of promotion and popularity.

      It's it's 6-4 Tyson then it's a draw because of the 10-8 3rd.
This is at least a draw

I got to say I’m an MMA guy to I don’t really do boxing, but I got to say Tyson is no longer in his prime. A lot of the boxing community believes that Tyson took this fight this Ngannou fight, and then a rematch cause because he’s afraid to fight the genuine top, super heavyweight contenders in the WBC etc… at the end of the day. Ngannou should be super proud, because even though Tyson might not be at the peak of his prime, she is still an amazing boxer.

I listened to Guru's livestream and one of the main comments he said was "What was Fury doing out there?!?" with the explanation that Fury wasn't doing his usual fighting stances and techniques thoughout his fight like he did in previous outings. I would say that boxing did get a little embarrassed with this showing from Tyson Fury. With Mayweather/McGregor, you know Floyd outclassed Conor. Francis has shown his worth as a boxer.

francis won that fight 95-94. to be fair though, the wilder trilogy took a lot out of fury. fury was dropped a total of 4 times across those 3 fights, arguably getting knocked out and getting a long count in two of those knockdowns. At this time, i think Wilder vs Nganou would be one of the biggest fights in combat sports, perhaps even bigger than fury vs usyk given furys awful performance today.

Matter of time before an MMA phenom takes over boxing. Heck Ngannou could very well be that guy if he seriously trains boxing for 2-3 years. MMA guys are crossing over into boxing, meanwhile these boxing dudes are avoiding the cage like a plague. Now Fury stans are saying Fury wasn't taking the fight seriously lol.
