  • After becoming the starter for NC State, MJ Morris played well and become a good quarterback, but then he quit. After playing in four games, he deciced to opt out for the remainder of the season, quit on his team and play for next year. This is all despite NC State being good, having ACC title hopes and him going 3-1 as a starter. Today, I want to talk about who MJ Morris is, why this decision is puzzling and how it could backfire in the future, enjoy!

It's hard to know what his plans for the future are as only he knows. NC State websites say he plans on staying with the Wolfpack. Then a Notre Dame website claims he plans on transferring to the Irish. Whatever the decision is, its a bit surprising if not even his head coach knew he planned on redshirting. I've never used the word "plan" so often in a few sentences.

For a counterpoint, we at LSU had a similar thing happen with our current backup Garrett Nussmeier. Top 100 overall player that would have burned his redshirt if he started the bowl game, but his family came to the decision not to. Our starting QB had quit on the team after the regular season and so without Nuss, we only had a WR to play QB. Next year will be that kid's fourth year and he has taken to the backup role with no problem and will be the starter as a redshirt junior.
These kids are rare and I think this kid for NCST might be the same.
    This kid will be fine.

If you watch the games you realize that mj and brennan struggled early because of bad recievers, up until the miami game, where mj still struggled. Brennan is also a leader to the team even when he isn't the starter. All this to say, mj was leaving the team in pretty good hands. I know I have the benefit of hindsight, but even when the news dropped I was more worried about him leaving then I was about us losing the next three games. When this video was dropped, the two qbs had nearly identical stat lines, mj probably just wanted more time to develop. Hopefully he wanted two years with incoming four star recievers Paylor and Anderson

Morris has been poached by another program. He'll likely will enter the portal as soon as the season ends, and arrive at a place where a coach has a spot just for him and an NIL paycheck waiting for him. Bad take on this, way different situation. Leary went down last year, and as a true freshman, he came in had flashes of brilliance, with freshman dumbassery. It happens, he'd grow out of it. They then bring in a QB that was horrible and not even close to being as talented as Morris. morris then had to restake his rightful position. To me it looks like a coach that doesn't believe in him, not he quit on his team, why would you play for a coach that doesn't believe in you when you can just go to team to a coach that wants you there?

Coming from his High School QB Coach and Mentor this Video is all wrong. He played at Pace his Junior Year but came back to Carrollton his senior year. When it comes to the NC State situation you need to see the obvious. Armstrong was brought in and paid over 300k. Mj is not getting anything close to that. NC state already lost 2 games before he got the start putting them out of the ACC championship or National Championship. He was lied to before the season saying he was the guy then they brought the other guy in. They also didn’t let him redshirt his freshman year as well. MJ beat him out and spring and they still went with the other guy. He didn’t Quit. He made a business decision. He plans on staying at NC State. But this video is so wrong. I can tell who made this video didn’t play football and knows nothing about it.

Character and innate competitiveness count, and me-first players seldom achieve lasting glory in a team sport like CFB. It remains to be seen what kind of QB and team mate this guy eventually turns out to be. But benching yourself at mid-season, and thereby seriously compromising your team for totally selfish reasons, is a very bad look. Also, taking yourself out of position to gain some experience and exposure so early in his career is straight-up idiotic. Half a season does not a super star make. The only things his actions to date prove is that he is not concerned with team goals and is too impatient and immature to be trusted to keep a commitment. I suspect that this young man may be getting some less than sage advice from someone with dollar signs in their eyes. It's a sad situation, one way or the other. I'll be pulling for NC State to overcome this garbage move and to finish the season strong - just out of general principle.

I agree with you 100 percent. It seems like every week somebody decides to break from the norm and do something that, in the past, might make people question their character. I thought that not playing in a bowl game at the end of the year and let down your teammates was wrong. But now that’s not even questioned. I get that the player is afraid of injury before the draft but how far do we go on the slippery slope? What’s next? Only playing in games against easy teams so I can pad my states and probably not get injured? I’m thinking that maybe he’s met with a head coach from a school that wants him to transfer and so they won’t question his character because of a back room NIL and transfer deal. This smells like SEC shenanigans. Lane Kiffin confess!! Lol

  • @tjsokkerplayer
    @tjsokkerplayer 6 месяцев назад +1

On paper, I think its a good decision for him and it makes sense. Afterall, NC State fumbled his redshirt opportunity last season when he played in 5 games, two of which he only threw the ball twice. Now this season, he sits all year, thinking he will be able to utilize his redshirt, only for plans to change midseason. He would have wasted 2 years of eligibility for not even a full season's worth of play. So, I can see why he wants to preserve his eligibility. His stats are nowhere near comprable to other NFL ready guys. So he still has plenty of work to do.
Nonetheless, its a bad team move and if I was his teammate, he would lose my respect. So while he may genuinely want to come back, I think he might get some pushback in his own lockerroom for thinking of himself over the team.

Once the big money schools/conferences figured out ways to cut out the conferences that weren’t a part of the so called “prestigious” conferences (**like forming the Group of Five/Power 5), is when I started to slowly lose interest in watching.
And I was one dude that loved college football way more than I liked the NFL since my days of playing. The Power 5 finally figured a way to make sure thee billion dollar pie was going to be shared with less other schools which in turn would mean the P5 schools get a waaaaay more monster cut of said pie ….because, you know…they all need the millions more than the other barely making schools in the Group of 5🙄🙄🙄🤣😂

Welcome to reality. Especially now with the portal, the players have no loyalty to anyone but themselves. They are mercenaries. And SOMEBODY will take him if he decides to leave. It may not be Alabama or Ohio State but there are dozens of teams with years of mediocre or just bad records and no serviceable quarterback ( Hello Nebraska) who would take a chance on a 4 star recruit.

I might just be petty and spiteful, but I'm all for quitting on your team in the middle of the season if they quit on you in the beginning of the season
As for a reason behind why he might be doing it two things come to mind one betting on potential which is not really that bad of a plan. Someone like Zach Wilson, for example got selected number two overall purely off of potential. Two a lack of confidence in his performances to come at the end of the season. Sure, sitting out may hurt his reputation but having an average to poor outing in the last couple of games can hurt it even more so I'm guessing he's seeing it as a net neutral

Trashing a kid who made the best decision for him shows your character. Time to grow up. This also doesn't help with future recruiting. It also seems you are rooting for this decision to back fire on him. You need help.

he goes to nc state due to 4 qb that played I'n the NFL. 3 of them was trash pro's and 1 won a Superbowl which was Russell Wilson. Nebraska should had never been on his list of 3.

You’re so wrong and you’re spreading this bs narrative. Real college football insiders with real connections like Bud Elliot have said he was likely to redshirt this season to begin with. There’s a rule where you can play 4 games and maintain your redshirt status. Get it right or don’t post it at all

Sorry but thats not a "STAR QUARTERBACK" its just clickbait. And you mention his weak mind-set so once again how the hell is he a "STAR QUARTERBACK"???
