    I see why certification with an actual trainer in person is needed because that is a lot of steps to get right before someone dives!!! I believe Josh and Carson are in good hands with you, Nick, as their teacher!!!

One thing I was taught was that when you are taking those test breaths on your reg, also watch your pressure gauge to make sure it’s holding steady and not dipping down with each breath. Fluctuation indicates your air tank valve isn’t all the way open and that can be a big problem at depth.

If you have an event of any kind it's good to wait about 12 months before going again. But other than that the water can help with so many things. Enjoy..

    4:43 I'm very much against the quarter turn back! Only reason I've ever heard is somebody getting too aggressive with opening it too hard, but it isn't any more likely than them doing it with the yoke. Being in the habit of turning it a quarter turn back means that if they turn it the wrong way, now it's a quarter turn open, and they might get air out of it at the surface and think they're fine, when in reality they're in a very dangerous spot.

    Can you recommend an online store to buy gear from since my local shops only carry the same three brands (cressi, akona, and sherwood)? Would love to see other options since even with those brands, the options are rather limited.

    • @Nicgyver
      @Nicgyver  Год назад +1

      I think there are several online stores that sell scuba gear. The problem with buying gear online is you won’t get a service package. If you get something different than your local shop sells, you won’t be able to get it serviced unless you send it away. Regulators and BCD’s need to be serviced like once every 2 years and if you stick with a local shop, a lot of times they will do the service for free if you buy the gear from them, and you won’t have to send anything away to get it serviced. I’m not sure about akona, but cressi, and Sherwood are well known and solid brands.

    • @armyreader1
      @armyreader1 Год назад

      @Nick Rinn Roger, I was hoping to try some other brands like Scubapro and Aqualung since they seem to be pretty well known and Id like to compare stuff before I use stuff...see what fits the best versus what fits the best out of the two brands I can pick from locally.
      Ill keep the service component in mind with the bcds and regulators. Thanks for that piece of info...wasnt tracking that at all.

  • @RowanHawkins

    Nick this was mentioned how to do presentations/communication hosted by MIT. People only have one language processor in their brain it can either be listening and understanding somebody talking or it can be reading. If you want somebody to get more of your content don't have things on the screen for people to read when you're expecting them to be getting information from you talking! Either say all of the stuff or shut up while somebody is expected to be reading something. I'm saying this about the huge paragraphs of text that you're putting up for detailed notes in the video. It isn't working. Sure the video will be a little longer but go over that stuff don't just make people read it they won't get it if it's all tell and no show.

    HI Nick! I just went looking to find that The Last Blockbuster video to watch again.
    I have a challenge for you. Can you teach Carson and/or Josh how to tell time on a clock?
    ⏰🕜⌚
    Oh and how to use a phone book?
    😂😂
    I really enjoyed that video. I remember as a kid, we used to memorize telephone numbers.
    Not just a select few. Home number of course. Along with Aunt's, Uncle's, Cousins and friends. School's, Police Numbers and hospitals. (There was no 911.)
    I have lost brain cells since then. I'm 61 and still remember the address of where my Grandma used to live.
    If you accept this challenge, you may be saving the future generations. 😂
    Thanks for the fun videos and helping with the serious ones. I'm thinking of Sequoia, Josh's dog.
    Plus the work with AWP. There was one evil man who brought that originazation down, while the rest of you were there for the right reasons.
    Thank You and God Bless.
    Debbie
