Couldn't understand why Hojlund would be standing in front of a defender waiting for a high ball forward, he seemed to judge the ball as too high and run behind the defender. He would then realise that the defender could comfortably reach the ball to head clear and would try to give him a nudge and thus give away a foul. Happened several times. Frankly, after that Utd's perfromance where we were outplayed, outfought, out thought, out run and out passed, the only reason Toney would join would be for more gambling money.
Zirkzee is the perfect option

Manchester United needs to focus on developing a cohesive system rather than solely acquiring players for specific positions. While we have talented goal-scoring players, their effectiveness relies heavily on receiving accurate passes when making runs. Simply adding more strikers won't solve the problem if they aren't getting the service they need. Looking back at times when Paul Pogba was fully committed to Manchester United, he excelled at picking out his teammates' runs, which significantly contributed to our scoring capabilities. The key question is: who will provide those crucial passes to our strikers? Until the team addresses this issue, acquiring additional backup players or aiming for a top-four position will be futile.
I'd prefer Zirkzee over Toney and Solanke
How about Jonathan David? He is 24, last year of contract, could be as cheap as 40m, had few years of good scoring record, 5'11" and can play in other positions. Look at City, their second striker is a player that can play in multiple positions

@@krish4246 He's been scoring quite good for 3 years. Its not his first good season. He also certainly isn't typical he so much more than just a striker.
Toney would be absolutely mega in United. He would also cost us some mega bucks. I haven't seen Zirkzee a whole lot, but he seems very interesting and promising. I don't think I would go for him over Toney if they both had similar fees. But if Zirkzee could be gotten for 2/3 of the Toney price and we could get him for 50M then I think I'd be on board with that. I'm not convinced about Solanke.
Our back-up ST can't cost anymore than 30-35M, because Martial is leaving on free. The next question is do we want a back-up to Hojlund OR replace Martial. I personally think it's futile to look at options like Toney, Sesko and Gyokeres because they would be expensive even for the starting ST option. I say we must look at a solid target man, a veteran like what Weghorst did for us last season and what Joselu is for Madrid. It doesn't make sense if both ST's our young, Hojlund needs to learn from an experienced ST (even if he isn't world class). We missed out on the golden opportunity to get Taremi on free, so we need to look at such options.
Revamping our defence is on top priority (2 CBs, 1 fullback atleast). Then, theres this no.6 question, which is also imp. So, spending even 25-35M+ on a backup ST doesn't make sense. If Guirassy is available for 17M, get him. My personal choice would be Zirkzee. Has enough experience, has played in a tough league in Serie A and he is similar to Martial who we are replacing (link-up ST). The profile of both the STs needs to be a bit diff for tactical fllexibility (we should be able to play with both of them in the XI at times as well, like Haaland/Alvarez, Nunez/Jota), so Zirkzee or any other decent link-up ST should be the way to go.

Solanke would be the only one of the 3 willing to be second choice between them. I actually believe a totally different type of striker is what United needs as the second option a smaller speedster will all the other qualities you described. Someone to change the speed of the game and put a tired defense under threat.
What do you think of Bruno? Imo his performances for Portugal show that he can adapt, but it seems like everyone wants him out of the club rn
Bruno requires intelligent and creative teammates to support him. The work is too much for him alone to do effectively

Was at the OT game earlier in the season when we got slapped 0-3 by Bournemouth. Solanke was class and was everything Martial wasn’t. Can do everything you need him to do as well. Been my choice since that day and I think United should go for him.
Its Zirkzee for me, he'd potentially give us what martial gave us when healthy which would unlock our goal scoring wingers

If United are looking for a "Backup" striker Hoylund are you seriously suggesting Toney who would likely cost £110M+ and who is rumoured to have already agreed to move to Arsenal!?
Has to be Sesko for me he is as big a talent as possible and exactly what we shoukd be aiming for.
You end up with two strikers expecting to start and nobody happy. We need a player that will be happy to play second fiddle to Hojland and allow him to develop his high ceiling potential.

The 6ft requirement seems to be arbitrary. Neither Alvarez or Jota are that tall. Toney is not a back up to Hojlund and Solanke will cost no less than £50m which is too much for a back up. The jury has to be out on Zirkee and in my opinion what Man Utd should be after is someone like Toney as a starter.
Why do you want to spend so much on a back up stiker? That seems like a waste of money. I can think of 6 starting 11 positions United need to upgrade on.

I am convinced that Tammy Abraham is the perfect player for United. He presses high and puts in the effort in making the keeper and back four work to get the ball out of there own half, he scores at a really good rate, he is 6"4 which will give United an additional imposing striker and he fits the English quota. I would also bring back either Danny Welbeck or Wout Weghorst as FWD3. Weghorst might not score much but he gave Rashford the room last year to play off and he excelled. I want 3 strikers who will work hard when they don't have the ball, who are physically imposing and who are the complete opposite of Anthony Martial.

It's a great option but that same English quota will make him very expensive, even though he hasn't played at all in the past few months. Under 30M!?, then why not. Realistically, 30M on a back-up ST is also expensive given our recent financial constraints.

Bring Danny Welbeck back all of these will take minutes off hojlund and would not want to sit on the bench. Welbz like Jonny evans would be a great story and would do more than a job.

@@coreyboachie that's fine but you should know he has been trying to play transitional football which is not his style of football because this squad can't play his style of football (he has said that several times) our center backs can't play a high line because they are too slow (except for Martinez) that's why we keep having that big space in midfield.

why are we not talking about someone like Victor Osihmen ,,,,He wants to come to the premier league and is young but way more experienced than these other candidates respectfully . I know his release clause is high but id rather spend money on someone like him and figure out the other positions. We all know how much of a goal threat he is and in my opinion we need a striker that can do that for the team and as well teach Hojlund how to do so also on a day to day basis on and off the pitch. He even said it himself that he has a chelsea and a man united shirt , so why would we pass up the chance of a lifetime to get someone that would want to come to the premier league and potentially WANT/CONSIDER playing for the team. We need an experienced striker , as much as Hojlund has shown to us that he has the POTENTIAL to do so we still need to give him time to develop into a full-on striker and gain much neede experience. Another candidate would be someone like Karim Benzema for experience purporses ,mainly.
Your recent video selections haven't been quite right, no offense intended. We need videos showcasing players who can bring the creativity and excellence our team desperately needs, not just those who excel in certain areas like ball-carrying or aerial duels. We're looking for game-changers, not just solid performers. For example, Haaland may have strengths, but he's not the type of player who can truly change a game. Manchester United requires players who can make a significant impact across the board.
