This is great! I'd figured a lot of it out, but you filled in so many blanks! I still have one question about dates. I set up a new significant date field with the label "Start Date" and added a date to the data field 12/1 before doing the export so it is included in the column headings. Also put a date in Birthday. Added rows with contacts including both dates as mapped in the down load... Birthday uploads perfectly, Start Date, not so much. It comes up in Contacts as a 5 digit number. I would love to know what I'm doing wrong!!! Thanks :)

However. after I exported the google template, copied the excel categories that I wanted (basically name and email) into a csv file, I imported it to google contacts and opened it. Everything is blank. If I click on a "blank", the identifying information that I imported shows up at the bottom of the screen and the menu items of name, photo, nick name, job title, company, email are all blank. What did I do wrong?Thanks

I have watched and googled so many times on how to find out where to add just the simple information into this template...Screenshots of where or which field to add the phone number and email would be so helpful. There are tons of videos on how to upload the excel csv file to gmail but dang it how can I get the info to upload correctly would be so awesome. That template is a bunch of nonsense and I could hardly see your tabs and still don't know where to load my information so that it will load correctly. The method is sound but its value for importing contacts between email programs is of questionable value. You can't map these if the headers don't exist.

Oh Judith Stephens The BIG question. Overall I prefer using a Mac, specifically there are a few Apps that I really use a lot, ScreenFlow is how I create my videos. Now Windows 8 changes a lot as you now need to learn a new OS regardless if you stay in Windows or migrate to Mac. My advice is always, If cost is not an issue and there are no Apps that are only in Windows I would choose a Mac. Having said that, if you live in Outlook, stay in Windows. Hope that helps!

I use Gmail, the main reason, Krishan is I wanted the most ubiquitous service I could find, so I can easily get up and running on any platform, and I believe more add-ons will come for Gmail than any other service.

This is too much information you have to supply to save your phone contacts I have a Nokia android phone and it was hacked and focused on Google bloatware and too many apps by Google I have complained to Google many times about that new updates that are hard to understand. Before your forced us to accept your new unnecessary updates , I never had any problems the previous google accounts about 5 years ago or maybe longer than 5 years ago. Cheers Mate
