- Shelving Inc presents: The Difference Between Threaded and Stem Casters
All of the threaded casters come standard with brakes. On the other hand, our stem casters can be purchased with or without brakes.
Threaded casters fit SI brand shelving at 12 threads/inch. That's the same as our leveling feet, which is why you can interchange them with no problem.
Stem casters are named for the solid stem that fits into the post bottom. They are also called universal casters because they fit into standard 1" diameter posts.
To install stem casters, make sure there aren't any connectors blocking the opening. For instance, our posts have the threaded insert in the way. After removing that, simply insert the plug into the bottom of the post. You may need to tap it into place with a rubber mallet.
The major difference is that the stem caster isn't coming out anytime soon, but I can easily remove the threaded caster without any tools.
We have these casters available in rubber (for outdoor use) or polyurethane (for indoor use). They also come in multiple sizes, each with a different weight rating.
Pick the option that will best fit your mobile storage requirements. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to customer service at www.Shelving.com
wish you people would show how to remove old ones not one video i can find how to remove the old casters ????
I have a Hagen cage with square inserts that the castors tapped in now the whole insert square falls out how do I replace this ? Can you buy new square inserts ?
i have 1" metal slanted legs on my dinning room chairs. where do I begin?
What if the pipe comes down at an angle instead of 90 degrees?
do the stem caster holders come in different lengths
Yes.
There are long screws and there are short.
Could I use these on a folding table? I would like to put wheels on this table.
We would think likely not - as the casters need to be inserted into hollow posts in order to attach.
Do these work with Ikea Omar System?
The threaded casters do not - they are sized specifically for SI brand posts and are an unusual size and thread pitch. We do recommend the stem casters to work with other brands as they are considered a universal fit for a 1” diameter post. So, it would depend on if IKEA has a 1” diameter post. If you have any other questions, feel free to email us at info@shelving.com!
how do i remove stem casters?
Hi Amy! To remove, you'll have to find a long dowel that can be inserted through the other end of the post to force the stem out. If you'd like further help, feel free to email us at info@shelving.com.
@@ShelvingIncorporated hi, i use stem casters on a guitar speaker cabinet, but one caster does not stays in anymore, fells out once I hold the cabinet up. Does it have to do with an inner washer? Is there a way to fix before thinking to change the whole thing?
@@ShelvingIncorporated What if the post is u-shaped to form a handle and both ends end with a stem caster?
Is it possible to remove the stem castors?

The volume is very poor
I have been around artillery, tank, heavy machine gun, hand grenade, small arms, and explosives during my 23 years in the military. I have spent 30 years as a diesel mechanic as well. I could hear the video perfectly fine, Johnny. I hate to tell you this, but you probably need to go see an audiologist, pronto!
@@brianandlynphilippines ....the volume is still poor...but thanks for taking this time to pat yourself on the back as an expert in everything.
