He is ok . I have to feed him every morning before i go to work and after work . He is always outside in my garden and waiting if i open a sliding door on my room . Then he knows now is feeding time . 😄 He is always around. At least i have fun.
My mum had a really tame one in her garden when I was a kid. She would sunbathe on her garden bed with an apple or some berries, and the bird would fly down, perch on the bed and take the berries from her hand, or peck at the apple. He was a lovely lil chap, but his wife was much more nervous, and would never come anywhere near us.
That Blackbird represents my feelings about McDonalds. It goes against all my natural instincts, but despite this I will still get close enough for easy food.
It only took about a week and now Mr Blackbird comes right out side my back door 😃 he even comes to the dining room window & stares at me until I come to the back door to feed him.
Only about a week. Lucky you 🙂. My Mr. Blackbird was too scared and it took me longer than one week. But still i had fun and every day he comes closer and closer .
@@ddnz2959 Since, I posted I’ve got another 3 Male Blackbirds coming as soon as I open my back door. The original one even lands on the bathroom window sill chirping & starting at me through the open window until I go downstairs and feed him 😃
Awesome. Now you have full time job. Feeding blackbirds 🙂. I don't have so much luck. And no many blackbirds around my house after summer . All of them gone . I hope they come back after winter.
@@ddnz2959 actually, i have one that comes knocking at my window everyday but i ndver fed him in particular, he just have some of my bird seeds but even if there's still some, he still comes to say hello!
You have to be a very patient. it takes months. Lately I started feeding a female blackbird from 10 meters away and she is coming back every day. Now i can feed her closer than 10 meters . Before if i opened a sliding door on my room she was gone. So maybe another 1 - 2 months and i will have 2 friends in my garden 😅 who knows haha.
In 2020 a black bird pair decided to make a nest in my garden so I started to feed them and bond with them and over time the baby black birds grew and fledged out of the nest into my garden then all of them went away for a while then in early 2023 the black bird pair came back so I started to feed them again and now they have made another nest in my garden and since I'm 13 I still go to school and the black bird pair has now started to follow me all the way to my bus stop which is about a 10-20 minute walk from my house but they still get a bit spooked when I go out to feed them. Also me feeding them has also brought many other birds to my bird table as I have seen pigeons, magpies, crows, ravens, tits, sparrows, and starlings. It's really fun to see them all eating at the same time. UPDATE:So the baby birds that they had in 2020 are now adults too and they follow the bus I get on all the way to school and crowd around me when I get to a certain point where there is normally noone else. I love them so much.
While sitting with chickens as i feed them in the morning Mrs Blackbird darts around my feet and the chooks. Yesterdsy her two fledglings darted in and stood while she filled her crop and transferred to them ... datent move a muscle but so close
I have one comes to my door. He actually came in a couple of times last year. He's normally waiting for me in the morning, but if he's not there, I whistle and he turns up. He's now bringing the kids lol.
I hoped some people achieved this kind of bond...i have one coming on his own at my window and i wistle to him, i do not know if that if why he comes but he is absolutely not afraid I will try feeding him with parrot seeds, then if he accepts i will find some worms
Absolutely love the video and blackbirds are one of the best species! There are several in my garden ans one of them has such a quirky behaviour. They are so entertaining to watch.
I started out with one couple. In the spring they came with their offspring to feed on mealworms. At the moment I have about 8 blackbirds in my garden. The problem is that the get aggressive to each other when I feed them. I distribute the feed in the garden to prevent them to get aggressive to each other. I also stay around them until they have their fill because the starlings would eat everything. There is a bird, a thrush that comes to me when I call him (or her).
We name all Blackbirds Carl for some reason haha and after throwing food from my door just for Carl while making tut tut tut noises he knows it's for him! He now comes down and waits about 50cm away as i place it down and walk away. Im so close to him feedingfrom my hand 😊
I swear, every other day i catch myself whistling at birds and wishing i knew how to get closer to them, but i never actually looked up what to do Just the otherday, a Robin got stuck in a net on my property (ive taken care of it since) and it broke my heart how scared he was the whole time i was cutting him free (though it was kinda cute to see him bite at my fingers like that would hurt). Im lucky i could hold him well enough to get the net off, but yea, it's time to take this seriously and start shooting my shot with the birds in my yard... the worst they can do is say no...
I tamed my black bird cutting a raisin while they had young to feed .he later came into my green house while I was planting my plants & place a tit bit for him.
I love animals, and have a particular fondness for eurasian blackbirds, but humans have some pretty interesting emergent behaviour too if you consider them just being any other wild animal trying to survive.
any way to befriend a bird if you don't have a garden? I've been trying to befriend jackdaws that like the field somewhat close by, but they're skittish. There's many people always walking by so I don't feel they are even able to associate me with the guy that threw some food to them some time ago.
Same here, i do not have garden, i live in city... so i do not know if its possible to befriend one. Also - no worms in my apartment, lol There is one blackbird coming on its own under my window, he is not afraid, he just sings and it seems he likes wistling back (or she). ... i will give it a try ... try with some seeds, if he/she accepts then i will try to find bugs/worms etc.
