I don’t think it’s unpopular. Hey- when I got Jugulator, I posted that this is my all-time favorite JP album. I know tons of people would disagree with this, but nobody can deny that it is their hands down heaviest album they ever made. Who would ever say JP made a thrash metal album? Well they certainly did. Every song on Jugulator is pure thrash metal. And that’s what I want. And that’s why it’s my favorite JP album
You are not alone. I hate to admit it but I like this album more than the Jugulator album, even though there is nothing wrong with the Jugulator album.
I don't hate Ripper! Rob Halford wanted to do his own thing. Rob Halford likes Ripper and praised the job he did! He was happy with his replacement because he still cared about the band. They've carried on well over the years and look at them now! They're doing the cool new rockstar trend thing. Chuck Berry, AC/DC, Motley Crue, Judas Priest, The Rolling Stones, they're all doing it! You know, the one where retirement might seem inevitable but never happens lol! Not that I want any of those people (except Chuck Berry... after I get a chance to see him live...even though he doesn't play to great anymore at almost 90 years old!...)to retire lol! All of the above still put on an awesome show! So keep going for it guys, and please lower your ticket prices please!
Because Priest made two of their clearly worst albums with Ripper. It's not his fault, he didn't wrote the songs, but they do all suck. Truth is Rob might have been able to either even save some of these songs with his vocals, or at least impact song writing so that some of the songs would have turned out okay. Tim was not in that position. This song for example could be okay if the "hardness" would be turned down few notches. It's metal as f***, even too metal.
Saw Ripper live and fact is he never held back or played it safe like so many other live singers. He gave it all and then some. This guy was and is incredible.
Both "Jugulator" and "Demolition" get hated on but I think they are fantastic albums. Along with "Painkiller" the Ripper albums are the heaviest ones Priest have done. Nobody will ever be able to replace Halford but Ripper is a good singer in his own right, a much better fit than some other examples (like Blaze in Maiden).
I think 'Demolition' is a very good album. Ripper Owens is a very good metal vocalist in his own right. He can scream like Halford - a young Halford - otherwise he doesn't really sound like him. And anyone hating on the album or the band for Rob's absence should fully realize one pertinent thing: it was Rob Halford's choice to not be there...
Are only decent álbuns, but are the worst of their career until now. Don't even sound much like priest albuns! And in my opinion the albuns that Maiden did with Bayley are fare away better than this albuns that Priest did with Tim Owens.

Love Halford but they definitely did a Ministry/industrial ish mood on this album with some of the groove riffs. I really dig it. To be honest I don't dislike a single Priest album. Love both Halford and Ripper. 💓
Around 15 years ago, I was a new year's eve party with some metal friends at a non metal colleague's house. He said, no more metal songs for tonight, but I precisely remember that I crawled through the drunken bodies and furniture (myself full of booze) and said ok, no more metal, just this one :D One on one, take me on \m/
This and Bloodsuckers are my favorite tracks from this album. Also my first JP album a young niave me purchased, but I was not disappointed. For me, Screaming for Vengeance, Sad Wings of Destiny, and Demolition are my top three JP albums. Very different eras but that's my list
I see all comments complaining on supposed hate on Tim Owens but i see not a single comment against him. Not only here but in other videos. All i see is prasing him. Probably what people perceive as hate is just comments saying his albums with Priest are not exactly the bests, that the experimentation with Nu metal elements were not exactly favorable and above all, that Halford is Halford. None of those comments discredit Owens' talents.
@@HeavyMetalNerd well the two albums he did with iced earth are insane ( 10 000 strong and gettysburg in particular) and his charred walls of the damned is really not bad
Every song from Jugulator or Demolition albums, someone comments I don't like the Ripper Owens era but I like this song. Or my favorite song from Ripper Owens.
A good band knows how to evolve without completely abandoning the sound that defined them, and they even proved capable of doing this in the albums that came out after Halford came back into the fold.
I wasn't aware of his other work, so I took what I gathered from the video and made my judgement. It will be very impressive to hear him nail songs from say the 'Painkiller' album.
The blend of guitar distortion and bass doesn't get any better sounding than this. This is it for me, my ears love it (have to turn up the bass on equalizer though). Drums and vocals you are also appreciated lol
Pure heavy metal, for me this album are priest! No more no less! Give me a reason why not. Just one player out doing something else and everybody say this is not priest. Nice special album with pure magic songs.
"The resulting album would be an amalgam of Jugulator-style riffs, references to '80s Priest, and sporadic nu-metal additions such as samples, and industrial-style beats." Yeah, I can see that Influence being used on this track somewhat.
Ripper is ripping his ver. Of j.p. just badass cd. Demolition & Jugulator are so underated.Halford is great but Ripper is in league. His self also love kk.priest cont.ripper s legacy. Two cds very awesome to listen too!
cut my teeth on early Priest, but lost touch with them through the 90s. Just started listening to this and must say it is a very good album. A bit of a return to form after the extreme Jugulator twist. Need to give them both more play time to truly critique, but Jug seemed to lack their traditional soulful expression. Solos were blaring and curt. But It's Priest and has found its place in my library.
David Stone you have a point. Jugulator was their only album that didn’t have meaning, cathedral spires was the only one that had any meaning at all. But nonetheless it was still a great album as well as their others.
@@Trout636 No meaning? Nonsense! Brain Dead was written from the perspective of someone going through brain death and unable to bring it to an end and for their families who are left to care for them. It is even explained at the bottom of the lyrics. I'm not trying to convince you to like the album but just because a band does something different doesn't mean it is lacking in any way. And yes...Priest had gone through a lot of shit at that time having started the 90's being taken to court over something that wasn't even their fault, then Rob leaving and Priest being inactive so yeah...they were pissed off and expressed it by creating the nastiest and most gut-wrenching album of their career in Jugulator and I loved it.
Vinay Mulukutla You must have a communication disorder. When did I EVER say I never liked the album? Maybe if you’re allowed you should run to the store and buy a pair of glasses so you can read comments easier.
