- Hey family!!! In today's video we're picking up where we left off yesterday, if you missed that one you can watch it here • FIVE STORE FALL SHOP W... ! 😁 I'm making a quick supper with all the fixins and we have another movie night, complete with pop corn and pretend pop corn! 🤣💕
Pumpkin Pie Wars Movie: • Video
Buttermilk Biscuit Recipe:
(NOTE I made extra in today's video, but this is the original amounts you wold need. Depending on the size you make them this would make around 6-8 buiscuits. I got 11 by adding an extra half recipe.)
2 cups self rising flour
6 TB unsalted butter (cold)
1 cup buttermilk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°
Combine all ingredients and mix by hand, using a little self rising flour to keep it from sticking to your hands too much. Pinch of pieces a little bigger than a golf ball and roll into ball shape. Pat in extra flour and press slightly onto baking pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, until bottoms of biscuits are browned. Brown the tops and spread with butter!
This is my recipe for sausage gravy, to make it without the sausage like I did in this video, you can use bacon drippings, melted butter, or oil in the place of the sausage drippings.
Sausage Gravy Recipe:
1 pound sausage, hot or mild
4 Tablespoons Butter
3/4 cup all purpose flour
milk, amount depends on how thick you like your gravy
Cook sausage in a large skillet until done. Remove sausage from pan, but leave the drippings! Turn heat down to medium. Add butter and let it melt. Add flour and mix well. Start adding milk a little at a time and mix until smooth. Continue adding milk until you get it where you want it. When it's ready you can add the sausage back into the gravy.
Mashed Potatoes:
10-14 russet potatoes
salt
black pepper
2 tablespoons mayo
1/2 stick of butter
1/4 cup milk
Wash, peel, and cut up potatoes. Boil until tender. Transfer to a large bowl and add in all other ingredients. Mash and stir until everything is combined.

I'm from the south and I just put salt, pepper, butter, and milk or cream in my mashed potatoes. That's how my mama and mamaw made theirs. Tonight we had pan fried pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes, pinto beans, and biscuits for supper. We also had fresh sliced cucumber, tomato, and onion on the side.

Good evening. We make mashed potatoes a few ways . One of my favorites it to put a couple cloves of garlic in while boiling potatoes. When we mash ours it's with butter always, sometimes cream cheese (chive and onion) a little milk or cream or almond milk .. garlic salt and pepper to taste . And not super fluffy we a little bite here and there . One of my husbands favorite meals is chicken fried steak and gravy .. dinner tonight ,My husband picked up food from our local Mexican restaurant. Fresh shaving if one of my favorite smells. Chicken fajita nachos was what was for dinner here. Ohio has had over 100 for the heat index. My granny was from the smoky mountains North Carolina, we’ve always used butter and cream/milk in our mashed potatoes. I wouldn’t be opposed to trying Mayo, though.

I always put Blue Plate mayonnaise in my mashed potatoes. I also always use self rising flour. Ole Yeller was one of my all time favorite movies. Also love Fox and the Hound, my grandsons loved it.movies I watched with them I still love. I was and am a "hands on grandmother".

So sorry about the little pond. Can it be reworked? I can't believe how fast Manley is growing and how well he is talking. His excitement over the letters and numbers is so cute. And he is so sweet wanting to share his snack. Have you tried Chester's Corn Puffs ? They come in Cheese and plain and are very good. Your supper looked good. Now I I want mashed potatoes 🥔! No mayo, though. I like loaded mashed potatoes. Butter, milk, sour cream, cheese and bacon 🥓. Serve as is or put in dish, top with cheese and bake until cheese melts 😋

Of course I also do the same and now my daughter does it.
It’s a real southern thing but you must use Dukes.
Hello Moss Family. I make mashed potatoes with butter, sour cream and Parmesan cheese. We do popcorn in a old fashion machine, corn is cooked in oil. Can’t have movie night without popcorn and candy. Have a good week. Blessings
Falon, on the Food Network or Cooking Channel they show all different kinds of pumpkin wars with teams. No mayonnaise in mashed potatoes, but I have been known to put sour cream in mine on my plate only.

I started putting mayo in mashed potatoes after seeing your vids! I almost never have sour cream so it's a good sub! I've also started using mayo on grilled cheese instead of butter after seeing so many people make it that way, it really does turn out crispy and good!

I actually had never heard of mayo in mashed potatoes until my 3rd husband, lol, told me about it. He loved mayo bless his heart. I'll admit it's really good. However no one else i ever cooked for, before and after him wanted mayo in the potatoes. Now, i seldom cook because i live alone but if i ever mashed potatoes for just myself, i would absolutely put mayo in them.

I'm from the north and never heard of putting Mayonnaise in mashed potatoes until I saw you doing it.I just use butter and milk.
As a southerner, when I’m “slingin taters” (haha!) I do add mayo sometimes but mostly just whole milk and butter. 😀 I like using mayo for grilled cheese because it’s easier than butter (in regards to the previous video where y’all were discussing that method 😉)

I put mayo in my mashed potatoes sometimes. I have to sneak it in because if my husband knows he won't touch them. If I don't tell him, he always says how good they taste. Lol! Also fun fact my husband hates dukes too and kraft is what we always buy. I noticed you use kraft mayo too.

We use butter and milk on our mashed potatoes but when we mash our sweet potatoes we use cream cheese.
Try Southern Biscuit flour Formula L. It is amazing.

We do sour cream, not Mayo. My mom in law is from Macon and that's her trick. We are in Florida now.
