Finally captured some clear footage of an explosive strike from a big walleye. These gravel lizards are more than capable of chasing a bait down in open water and crushing it at 2+ mph
I’m kinda surprised that walleye was willing to stalk for that long. (Not surprised he spit the lure that fast) Every video I’ve ever watched on walleye and they all in essence say “jig right in front of the fishes face to make walleye bite or you’re wasting time”. (I have yet to catch walleye so I’m not exactly impressed by them.) Pike, seems they’ll bite anything that moves. Feel free to educate me on walleye, nay go ahead and change my mind that they’re not F tier intelligent.
Walleye are definitely known for their tendency to be difficult to catch. Using all kinds of finess tactics to produce some light bites when the going is tough, but they can also be vicious hunters that will hit almost anything when the bite window is happening. Great lakes and big water walleye are much easier in my opinion. It requires more equipment but it's a whole other level of walleye fishing. They're big, there's more of them and they are willing to chase a bait down and crush it as seen in this video.
@@plattinumfishing went fishing this weekend with my dad and brother and the little walleye (they were silver, not dark green and seldom over 3lbs) they were going crazy for any soft plastic swim baits we had. (Mimic minnows by northland tackle were their faves) I have since changed my low opinion of walleye. 😊 thanks for the awesome videos!
I totally had this same think happen to me last year. Pink hoochie and dodger 60ft deep in 150fow, trolling for kokanee and got smashed by a 6# eye.
that's awesome!!
I wish the waters I usually fish were that clear!!
