I saw this on TV and had to buy it. Sting created something that is a real story telling epic. I am not a "musical" person as, realistically I hate the whole idea of that type of music but this is different and quite beautiful. Sting is a great writer and performer.
To me it is fascinating that you profiled Johnny Cash's American IV, and Sting's, The Last Ship. Songs of men facing the great changes in their lives. So well done, so poetic and lyrical - pure art. These albums should be playing in a pub or bar, to the glow of neon beer and whiskey signs, the random clatter of pool balls, the silent football game on the TV at the end of the bar, the sparkling eyes of a dark eyed, dark haired beautiful woman and the warmth of her smile.

Dear Harley, thank you very much for your channel and very interesting clips about Mozart, Sibelius and Schubert. This album became my favorite Sting's album right after its release. Sting seems very mature and wise on this album. And he doesn't care about genre boundaries on all of his collaborations with folk and classical musicians. There were exactly three collaboration projects with Deutsche Grammophon between this album and "Sacred Love". All three exceptionally good. If these albums have slipped your attention, my warmest recommendation for all three: the duo album with Edin Karamazov, as well as his fabulous "winter album" and the Live with Royal Philharmonics.

In many cases, that is true. As you age, you begin to look beyond your paradigm if you have always had an enquiring mind. We are all born with a brain. It takes a lifetime to develop a mind....
When it came out, I didn't understand the low key response for this album, its amazing, I'm not a Sting fan either, the stories, melody are just so good and transporting. I recently shuffled it, still amazing.
I do distinctly recall him plugging a broadway show on late night tv accompanying this record. I fully appreciate the mans musical contributions of the 70's & 80's. He went a little too new agey for my tastes once the 90's set in however, though I highly respect his ability to stay in top form as the years pass. Very difficult feat to overcome for singers.
So glad you enjoyed the Pontus, Harley. I am lucky enough to have the Terminator Plus. Long time Sting fan here, I got really into The Police when I was a young teen and then started to listen to a lot of Sting around The Soul Cages era. I thought he would never match the perfection of Ten Summoner's Tales but The Last Ship comes close and in some areas surpasses it. All very subjective of course, and dependent on the weather:)

I wanted to know the meaning behind all the songs and why he was singing in a different accent. When it ends it like the end of a ride at an amusement park or something like the end of a movie.
Great review! Sting is an amazing artist, but the sound quality of Sting's albums was lacking IMO until his album Brand New Day. It contains the song "Ghost Story" where he wrestles with the relationship with his father who has passed, probably my favorite of all his tracks. I also recommend "Stolen Car" on on his album Sacred Love. It's a great test track for woofers/subwoofers. His album Ten Summoner's Tales is probably my favorite album overall with great performances and songwriting, but sound quality suffers a bit. Worth a listen, though!
Thank you for that! You are such a good speaker! We see how much the music/song writing is in the hart of your passion. Technically, this album sounds very good for timbre BUT unfortunately for me the dynamic compression is often bad. This kind of great work would have benefit not having a “pop” mixing/mastering treatment.. for exemple most of Joni Mitchell album’s have great dynamic range and you barely notice the compression…
Like yourself never a fan of Sting or the Police, sure i know the hits and i like those but that's about it. It's the music that makes your mind wander to all sorts of places and times which i like, so i guess it's worth checking and discovering. Cheers

Stinkers is at least a reasonable musician who collaborated with some great musicians. Wagner apparently was a twat too. Yes I’d put him up there with best twats who managed to write the odd decent tune.
I do not agree with you on all aspects mentioned …. I think I hear true my system. that it costs Sting some sort of effort to sing in the dialect, especially in the opening song. Therefore I’m out this album
It’s his own dialect. Take anyone who’s accent has faded through travel back to their family’s home in their home town and you’ll hear it return. It doesn’t ever completely go away.

I also recommend "Stolen Car" on on his album Sacred Love. It's a great test track for woofers/subwoofers.
His album Ten Summoner's Tales is probably my favorite album overall with great performances and songwriting, but sound quality suffers a bit. Worth a listen, though!
Thank you very much for your kind words and indeed for all your recommendations, I don’t know any of them!
Thank you for your comment and kind words. Do pleased you enjoyed it.
I think you will love Songs From the Labyrinth.
It is medieval themed, tunes and poetry readings. Very introspective and quite beautiful.
Thanks, I’ll check it out
Thank you for that!
Thank you for your kind words. You’re right, it is quite heavily compressed, which is surprising as (I agree, it needn’t be). Good comment
Like yourself never a fan of Sting or the Police, sure i know the hits and i like those but that's about it. It's the music that makes your mind wander to all sorts of places and times which i like, so i guess it's worth checking and discovering. Cheers
Thanks for your comment. Enjoy!

wow that amazing thank you!never heard this sting album🤩 Not directly related but you might like the music at "mike oldfield voyager" album if you don't know
You’re very welcome! Thanks for the tip!
Even if Family Guy can't understand Sting, he is a great performer.
Back in 1983, I accidentally found Sammy Hagar’s, “Three Lock Box.” You need to discover that. It will change your life.
Now that’s a temptation I cannot miss! 😉🙏
What's your speaker's again. ✅️💥🔥💯⁉️
❤
Thanks!
It’s a good job I don’t have a partner otherwise she would banned me from watching you videos so far. I’ve bought Kid a by Radiohead mitsuko uchida Mozart 15 piano Concerto and I’ve just ordered sting the last sip from your recommendations
😂👍 Enjoy!
By Sting.
It irritates me that the two skeletons in the hull is a myth. Makes me wonder if all the premises of The Ballad of the Great Eastern are incorrect.
That’s interesting. Is it a myth? And if so, I wonder when it was originated? More research is obviously required. Thanks for raising this point.
I can see why it bombed.
Stinkers is at least a reasonable musician who collaborated with some great musicians.
Wagner apparently was a twat too. Yes I’d put him up there with best twats who managed to write the odd decent tune.
😂
I do not agree with you on all aspects mentioned …. I think I hear true my system. that it costs Sting some sort of effort to sing in the dialect, especially in the opening song. Therefore I’m out this album
Hi, it took me a while to get used to it too. But I know it’s not for everyone.
It’s his own dialect. Take anyone who’s accent has faded through travel back to their family’s home in their home town and you’ll hear it return. It doesn’t ever completely go away.
It's not forgotten. It's boring.
😉
I don't like it and I never will 😅
Well at least you know the future 😉 Thsnks for sharing your opinion
Nah, not a masterpiece.
Good for you becoming wise, though.
😉
Mr Harley, i recommend you give the scottish band The Bathers a listen. Id recommend their latest Sirenesque. Its a very enigmatic album
Thank you for the tip! I certainly will
🤗 THANKS HARLEY FOR DIGRESSING, I TOO WAS MUCH MORE OPINIONATED 😅
