I didn't realize, living in Florida, I had access to 4 regionals. (Corsolla, Heracross, Carnivine, and Maractus) When starting out I used Heracross like crazy as my main fighting type pokemon until I could get stronger fighting type. They are little tanks and do pretty well. As for the Carnivine and Maractus I see so many I was trashing most of them. I had no idea. I guess I'll start saving some.
I've caught both solrock and lunatone in the same area like around 1 month ago (not sure if this was some event or something). Mr Mime and Heatmotor are very popular as well in the area.
Another tip is connecting flights - at least in the US. There are a few regionals that spawn at large airports. If you have to take a plane to visit family like I do, you can keep an eye out for flights that connect in places like Florida, the south part of Texas, and New York City. As long as you're switching planes, there's usually a layover. Most of the layovers I've had have been between one and two hours, where you can at least attempt to use an incense. Might not even be necessary because airports tend to have a lot of spawns anyways.
Watching this video 1 year later, I'll always hope for a so called Regionals Event, where we're able to catch all regionals world wide, (raids, research tasks/box, or the wild) or maybe switch regions for a period of time. For example my regional Mr. Mime in Europe for 2 months, and then switch to Asia for the next 2 months, and so on.
Just as I was watching this video a Kangaskhan spawned at my house. Hopefully I can finally get a Mr. Mime and a Tropius from someone in my local area.

My first shiny was tauros and it was the first Taurus I caught because the rest kept fleeing from me everytime. I remember I was soooo confused why it was green I was sort of upset about it 💀 😂
To be fair, Tauros does have a bad shiny, but considering that shinies became a feature in Generation 2, the limited color palate at the time just dictated that all brown Pokemon for whatever reason became this sickly pale green. Tauros, Ursaring, Dodrio, Stantler, etc.
