I didn't think much of the template when you guys first introduced it but this makes the line comparison so clear and helpful! Especially since we can download it and have it at home to compare to the pens we already have. Thank you!

Thanks so much for demonstrating what the soft part of Falcon soft nibs means and I'm really loving the Nib Log you've designed! That SM Falcon is now cemented onto the wish list!
I had better go do some more intense research on Pilot Falcons. :D

Thank you so much for this, there are no proper writing samples/comparisons of the soft broad

best one for me is the soft fine. Not very thin yet not very thick. Is the SF nib and the SEF scratchy or is it all smooth?

I love when you guys do these videos, could I make a suggestion you add in markers for each nib? I’ve found I go back to the one you did on sailor nibs over and over and I imagine people will to this one too-it would make it easier to jump to the nib we’re looking for!

Yay so glad you like these comparison type videos! We have time stamps in the video player and the description, and we'll try to put them on past videos that we missed too. Thanks for watching! :)

    Nice comparison.
Could I make a remark : it's jumpS instead of jumpED otherwise there is no S in the sentence. ;)

You're absolutely right my pen friend! I did notice that too. But there's another way around this : she could've written "jumpED over the lazy dogS". En français, corrige-moi si je me trompe, mais il me semble que le pangramme qui est communément utilisé pour ce type d'exercice, est "portez ce vieux whisky au juge blond qui fume".

Which nib soft fine /medium or Broad gives best line variation?
And what is the size of pilot falcon. Nib?
    #5/10/15?

    • @TrueReal-de6ee

I'd suggest extra fine. I only have fine and medium pilot falcon nib grinds. Honestly, the thickness of the line variation is pretty consistent.. That is to say, they both spread the tines about the exact same distance. Thus, ylthe nib grind itself does not affect the flexed line thickness too much from my experience. If you want the greatest line variation, you'll likely need to go to the finest nib grind they have available❤

Hey stupid question here! I get put off from the Falcon because of the silver circle decal on the body. Is that a sticker or is it painted on? I really dislike it and it sucks because I hear that the Falcon is one of the best pens to draw with.

If you mean the ones that are visible at 15:11, those are stickers that you can peel off!

Yes, we can confirm they are stickers that come off. All Pilots come with them to indicate nib size.

This year I bought a Pilot Falcon soft nib fountain pen. I have been collecting and using fountain pens for over 20 years. Sadly this pen nib failed within two months - the tines simply separated without improper use and was rendered useless. I do not recommend this pen at all. So much for Japanese "quality". My experience and opinion.
