    Ait coolers are a rare beast these days, I took the 797 Monster for a demo, I loved it, nice torque very light, good brakes and handling. The looks are amazing. The 797 was $9300 before tax/reg. the Triumph is only purchased because people want a Triumph. Lower bhp, heavier and more expensive. If I was in the market I get the Ducati 797. Loved the engine

    I'm not sure about you but the reason I find myself sliding forward on bikes like these is that my legs are too long so my knees end up too far forward over the pegs and when I go to shift my balance drops me forward. That's why I figure I'm going to need to go to a dual sport and cafe racer it out because they usually give a little more leg room.

      Its not only you sliding forward.I think this happens due to the long tank and the position of the seat which puts you forward.

    Luv the gold wheels on this one. So much shinier than the ones on the Lowrider S.
    Hate the switchgear on the Duc Scramblers. Looks and feels super cheap.
    Could use a nice little under cowl LED brake light. I'd bin the license plate holder for something verticle, on the side, off the axle. I like the number plate, but needs to blank and allow owner to pick their own favorite number sticker.
    Shame about the seat slide. Looks nice anyway.

      It's a very solid build. It's like they tightened all the bolts on the standard Scrambler. And hell yeah those rims and tires are impressive!

    • @saddle8bag
      @saddle8bag 7 лет назад

      I'm sure the fit and finish is nice. What I call "switchgear" are the plastic housings that hold the signals, kill switch etc. Look at how nice they look on your Triumph then look at what dollar store, Chinese knockoffs Ducati chose.

      I always thought of Ducati in terms of a nucleus where the center is the built at highest quality and the outer nuclear envelope is (thank you for this) 99 cents store crap. Hence my surprise in riding this one that it was somewhat adequate.

    • @poit444
      @poit444  7 лет назад +1

      You've got all that engine braking and a pleather seat...there's the sliding forward. I move around on my Thruxtons, I sit fitted inside the Panigale, Monster, and Super Sport, but the Ducati Scrambler feel like a skating rink.

    Would you buy it? Looking for a fun bike? Light nimble like this one? Suggestions?

    • @poit444
      @poit444  6 лет назад +1

      Triumph Thruxton 1200 for sure: the standard is $9,999. Among the Ducati lines, the Supersport is light, comfortable, fast, and fun.

    • @poit444
      @poit444  6 лет назад +1

      I'd get a 1200 Thruxton, standard, black...throw a number plate on it and it's like this only way better IMO. There's also a new 1200 Scrambler coming out on the Triumph lineup.

    • @poit444
      @poit444  6 лет назад +1

      The Southern California Triumph by me is always pushing a standard Thruxton for $9,999. I like the simple, black modern classic with sport mode and 100 hp, smooth twin that will wheelie all you want. That Cafe scrambler is built tight, which is why I like it, I'd say it even aspires to be the Thrux. Sorry, it's late, sounding salesy, just love bikes.

    I really like this bike the only thing that bothers me is the price, like is it really worth the money?

    • @poit444
      @poit444  7 лет назад

      IMO you'd really have to be such a loyal Ducati buyer. At the same dealer, they have a Thruxton 1200 for $9,999 and a 2016 Thruxton 900 for $6,999. This Scrambler Cafe is I think $11,000 +. It's too much. Move up to one of the other Ducati's or go across the parking lot to Triumph.

      I see that. Sounds like a road trip to Chandler AZ is needed. BTW, I purchased a bike from these guys (Vegas) once. They were really good. Shipped it to me in CA .www.cycletrader.com/listing/2017-Triumph-Thruxton-1200-Pure-White-120770706

    Hi, I am a beginner looking to get a motorcycle soon; and I am in my 30s so I'm more mature to operate a more powerful bike, relatively speaking (not talking like a Hayabusa). I want to ask, for someone like me starting out, would you recommend this bike, the Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer, or the Harley Davidson Roadster that's like the opposite of the cafe racer in HP and Torque (cafe racer has 75hp and 50 lbsft, and HD roadster has 58hp (approx from 1200cc engine stats and not of the roadster directly) and 76lbsft)? Also although the HD would have less costly maintenance, it weighs 600 lbs vs the CR at around 380 lbs; so weight is definitiely a concern for me but I hope that if I go for the CR, then I would have the Roadster be a second bike once I master riding the cafe racer and a motorcycle in general before I operate something heavier. I'm also 5'6, so a relatively short rider myself which is why the ducati is perfect (aside from the price which is the huge killer, along with the maintenance costs) for a short rider that can actually flat foot it. Thanks!

    • @poit444
      @poit444  7 лет назад

      Harley does have a cafe racer option with their 1200 which I had looked at in a video here.. ruclips.net/video/DxAEyQc4P5o/видео.html
      The question is always what type of riding will you be doing. IMO this Ducati Scrambler Cafe is a great choice (although I have all Triumphs). You could also save $ on the Triumph Street Cup, also a 900cc and will fit your frame. Both bikes offer demo rides. I'm into these modern classics. I would just say that a beginner should note that the more sport style bike can be the safer choice in that it is more nimble. I started (street) on an 865cc cruiser and as soon as a car cut directly in my path I could do nothing but lock it up. As long as you have throttle control meaning you don't push it beyond your capabilities, that Ducati will maneuver nicely in a pinch. You also mention weight. I once had a terrible time in extreme wind on a full fairing, light, sport bike. But for the most part, the 380lb Duc will feel nice and flickable and and you'll love the weight. Best of luck. Ride safely!

    • @Traumatix685
      @Traumatix685 7 лет назад

      Thank you so much! Yes, I want my bike to be more nimble which is why I'm looking at the lighter cafe racer types. And of course, weight is a huge concern as a first time rider as I don't want to drop a 590 lbs Harley Roadster. Oh yeah, I do live around in the area so I see how you're diring on the 57 freeway in your videos getting off of Lambert in Brea. I also had met the wonderful salesman Michael who had insisted that I should start on either the cafe racer but would prefer the 821 Monster as it's more powerful for the freeway. And I'm pretty sure I had looked at the cafe racer you're sitting on. With that said after just sitting on both bikes that the cafe racer is a better, more manageable fit for me.
      I've also stopped by at Laidlaw's and was looking at both the regular Roadster in Vivid Black which I felt was the ideal color to go with the chrome along with being a much better price at around 11-12k vs that custom Roadster at 20k in the link you'd showed me. The other bike along with the Harley roadster I was considering is the Iron 883 roadster which ironically weighs the same as the Roadster despite the Iron being 9k as it's the most popular Sportster in terms of sales.
      Thanks for the advice and I look forward watching more of your videos as I like to learn how to ride on the freeway in those areas of SoCal as when I drive through them, I imagine and worry how am I going to ride a motorcycle without getting killed on those freeways.

    • @Traumatix685
      @Traumatix685 7 лет назад

      I forgot to add to request that you'd do a how to video of riding a motorcycle on SoCal freeways without getting run over and how to split lanes as well. Seriously though, it would be much appreciated to help potential motorcycle riders not be nervous so that they can learn how to ride on the freeway confidently. Thanks!

    • @poit444
      @poit444  7 лет назад +1

      My personal opinion is that freeway riding involves everyone going the same direction so there's safety in that. Nothing more deadly than a bad intersection, right? Especially for us bikers. I had some comments about lane splitting on a video which I'll copy to you. Again, IMO, it can be done very safely if you follow the CHP guidance where you travel up to 30 if they are under 20mph. For motorcycle safety, I think one of the most important basic rules is to keep your head up. The MSC (course) teaches looking to the horizon line while using peripheral vision to attain all other information. Look where you want to go or more bluntly; don't look at what you don't want to hit. When I split lanes, I cover my brake, I go at a safe speed, I assume the worst, and I have adjusted my mirror upgrades to meet an appropriate width (my bar end mirrors are called "lane splitters"). I hope you stay safe and if you demo any bikes in Brea, I'm always around. Michael is a great guy and knows more about riding then I ever will so by all means use the 'family' at SoCal. Here's those other talking points and again, ride safe.ruclips.net/video/-W05RuJQTFE/видео.html

    Hey man, really useful video, thanks for posting. I dont suppose you know if you can take off that 54 number plate? I'm hoping its just a removable plate but wasnt sure if its hiding anything, as havent managed to get to my dealer to see one in the flesh yet.

    • @josib7554
      @josib7554 7 лет назад

      I just bought that bike-it's sitting in a garage until Spring (I'm in Canada). I too am not a fan of the number plate and had them take a look at removing them at the Dealership. They showed me underneath, and it does indeed hide some wiring and stuff which would not look nice and which would be exposed to rain... so it does server a purpose. He suggested bringing it to a sign shop (that does vehicle wraps) to get it wrapped/blacked out.

      Josi B thanks for letting me know, that's really useful to know. Getting the number plate painted is definitely a good shout.
      Hope you enjoy the bike!

    How would you compare this to your Thruxton R?

    • @poit444
      @poit444  7 лет назад +1

      I try to call it a mini version, but I just can't. The Ducati is a very well built solid little 800, but the Thrux has that smooth ride by wire delivery and very little engine braking so right away, it's more comfortable, faster, handling, suspension, etc. I'd say it's (Thrux R) much, much better (I mean not even close) and 2x speed and performance all around. I'd take a standard Thruxton 1200 over this every time and it would be cheaper. I'd rather compare this to my '14 Thruxton 900 which is still better imo just because the 900 feels bigger and more conducive to the freeway (the Ducati will easily out handle the 900 as well as braking) but I think the 900 has a better top end and it's more comfortable. Plus the 900 is a real classic looker. Now the Ducati Super Sport on the other hand, you have a good comparison to the Thruxton R there.

    • @jbournegb4773
      @jbournegb4773 7 лет назад

      Yeah, I'm still trying to get my hands on the Thruxton after selling my bike this summer. Maybe next year. I've demo'd a few bikes and the Thruxton is still my favorite with the Super Sport coming in second. The only reason for that is because I've never ridden one yet.

    • @matthewkitts53
      @matthewkitts53 7 лет назад

      So would you choose the Triumph Thruxton 1200 over this Scrambler Cafe racer for a daily driver in a busy city? The Thruxton seat and riding position do not look comfy..... or am I wrong?

    • @poit444
      @poit444  7 лет назад

      Definitely; I like the ability to shift around seat positioning on the Thruxton, the clip ons allow for you to put some of the load on your triceps and chest but they also have risers, the bars are also much more narrow and with bar end options in traffic filtering is better, it's torquey smooth with little engine breaking which will keep you up and back in good ergonomics, the standard rakes less than the R so it's more level, and the road and rain modes will let you dial it down so it's not too jerky. IMO the 1200 fells stronger and more precise, two options would have to be added in a slick move by Triumph but after that, it's more roomy for two up, and at 9,999 vs 11,500, no brainer. Black, Comp Green, or White.

    • @jbournegb4773
      @jbournegb4773 7 лет назад

      That makes my choice that much easier. Wanted the Thruxton anyway but wanted to check out other options.
