Soviet Leader, Michail Gorbachev actually offered West German Chancellor, Helmut Kohl Königsberg. But Kohl turned down the offer fearing even more pressure from France and Britain who were fearing (or better should I say Magaret Thatcher) that Germany might become a new threat. Another reason why he turned down the offer was that there were literally no Germans there anymore, only Russians and a few Lithuanians, the German Goverment didn‘t really see any point in taking over a whole chunk of land which didn‘t even speak german which would make it all to complicated to integrate into the rest of Germany. Because it's expensive to do so. Lol.and to just go back in time isn't always a good thing. For example skyscrapers are nowadays a common thing for big cities.
„Germany“ is not in charge of reconstructing buildings. The local city councils are. And in some cities they are averse to reconstructions because of the complicated history. Also, there are too many modernist architects in Germany who think traditional architecture is backwards and call it „fake“ and „Disneyland-like“. They would rather built buildings that look like grey shoe cartons

I am absolutely in love with Potsdam. What a beautiful and wonderful city!
Potsdam ist die Stadt, in der ich geboren wurde. Ein wunderschönes helles Kleid. Nicole ist ein Traummädchen. Ich werde wieder dorthin kommen.
Wir finden das Kleid auch ganz toll!
Loved this, well filmed and great commentary
Thank you!
Sad that such centuries of history has all been reduced to WW2 history somehow. Wish more if Berlin could be rebuilt to pre war architecture
The reason why it don't happen are lefts they hate every architecture besides brutalism

Potsdam is beautiful. Unfortunately, none of the signs in the old city square are in English.
