👍 I have a banjo in my shop with an almost identical-looking ring and hardware, except the dowel is round (headstock says B&M). First thought was to pull it and recut the socket, but then I had the idea to shave back the last inch on the dowel to make a heel, and glue on a wooden oval to take the tailpiece screw, allowing the neck to be tilted back. Your method, though not as 'pretty' has a major advantage - adjustment! 👏
That's a simple, clever solution. I was thinking of much more complex ways to solve this problem but your solution is much better and easier.
