  • Hello Designers! 🙂
    I'm not the one narrating this video, my bestfriend gave me a hand! Say hello to Ali!
    In this video we’re not talking about producing rendered images; we’re taking this to the next level and we’re making a walk-through video of a 3D model.
    An Animated Walk-through is very helpful to create when you want to convey a sense of space or explain the circulation of a design to a client or audience.
    They also come in handy if you have a digital portfolio (like a personal site) or if you’re selling 3D models online and would like to show off a creation.
    Basically knowing how to create a Walk-through video is a very handy skill to acquire because there are so many creative ways to use them.
    If you would like to know all the different ways you can use an Animated Walk-through, leave a comment below.
    Happy Designing 🙂

    Cool! Are there plugins to automate some of the manual steps e.g. placing and positioning the camera and it's settings?
    One alternative that wouldn't take 1000 years to render is rendering each step as a photosphere / cubemap like some virtual tours appear on real estate websites. The user would have 360 degree freedom to look around at each anchor point. web-based virtual tour software quality seems a bit hit-and-miss though!

    • @Ravenors.academy
      @Ravenors.academy  3 года назад +1

      Hello there :)
      Yes, there are a few plugins that can shorten the setup process like a plugin that would copy your anchor point along a path you draw, and there's also the Animator plugin by fredo6 whoch allows you to create an animation of moving objects
      I'm not aware of plugins that would copy your camera placements, tried searching but couldn't find any 😅
      And yes, rendering an animation in 360 would take a very long time, which is a shame.
      Some other "rendering" softwares like Lumion and Twinmotion have a better ability to produce walkthrough animations in lesser time, but they're still taxing to a machine.

    I use SketchUp 2017 & V-Ray 3.4.0, after adding the scenes, then to V-Ray full animation, after clicking "render" It is still rendering at 1 image only, I don't see any image changing in sequence. I've selected low resolution, low quality, etc. I see the render of the 1st image happen quickly. But why is there not any 2nd & so on images. After clicking "Stop Render" the 1st image is saved in the the specified folder.

    Is this really the state of the art in sketchup? There are no camera paths? (or can you not link a camera to a path?) Same question for camera look at targets. And I guess no ease in/out controls for camera angle or speed along it's path? I'd be impressed if this was 1992 but 30 years on, shouldn't this be more advanced? I'm not criticizing the content here, rather Trimble seems to have dropped the ball on this one.

    • @Ravenors.academy
      @Ravenors.academy  2 года назад

      Unfortunately, yes. There might be a plugin that I'm unaware of that makes this process easier, but when it comes to native Sketchup tools this is the best Trimble has :(
      Unless you invest in AR equipment and use Sketchup's AR app of course (which costs more money smh).
