The filmed performance of Kipps The New Half a Sixpence Musical will finally be shown on Wednesday 29th December 2021 at 6:30pm on Sky Arts and I'm really looking forward to watching it
Think it might’ve been written specially for this updated version of the show (and by the original guy). Wasn’t the only song in this version and not the film.

@@williamfairchild7439 I wanted to see Charlie Stemp in Mary Poppins last summer (2020) but that couldn't happen for obvious reasons. Stemp gave so much energy in this show and the rest of the cast was excellent as well. I read they videoed it (I think some of the cast members commented on it), but they never release the video. At least there are some significant parts of the show that can be seen.
@@disphoto I saw Charlie Stemp in Mary Poppins in December 2019 and he was brilliant and they did film Half a Sixpence in August and September 2017 but they didn't release it because it was for the archives
@@williamfairchild7439 You are not making me feel any better about not getting to see Stemp in Mary Poppins :-). I usually get over to the UK about once a year and always try and take in a few shows (I have been going to the UK since 1979). I'm hoping they will release Half a Sixpence at least on a paid streaming service. It is probably not a big enough or famous enough show to warrant something like a DVD release, but I would hope it would work for streaming. I was hoping it might show up on "The Show Must Go On" on RUclips since Cameron Mackintosh seems to be involved with that effort.
@@disphoto I did see Stemp in Mary Poppins and yeah for the archive filmed performance of Half a Sixpence on DVD or The Show Must Go On RUclips channel
I rented the film but unfortunately didn't get to finish it after "Money to Burn." That song is a personal favorite from my childhood. But how is the rest of the film? or the play? I heard many mixed reviews.

The sets and costumes are beyond hideous and as it builds, you're longing for some great Broadway style dancing. Nothing happens. Gower Champion where were you when you were needed?
Charlie Stemp is a true star
Agreed and the filmed performance on Sky Arts was brilliant and it's my second favourite film from 2021 and favourite filmed performance 10/10
Yes he’s fabulous
Literally!! I love his style!!
What great musical should be! And Charlie stemp what a star, with a supporting stellar cast ❤❤❤
Indeed and the filmed performance of Kipps is available on Sky Arts
Charlie's split jump! What a dancer!
Pick Out A Simple Tune is my favourite song from the 2016 production of Half a Sixpence

Until I saw the film for the first time yesterday, I didn't realise this song wasn't in it. Shame really because it's great.

@@sfhwla thanks for that info, very interesting.
@@sfhwla Yeah the 2016 Chichester Festival Theatre and Cameron Mackintosh production with the song from George Stiles and Anthony Drewe

@@williamfairchild7439 thank you so much for telling me that, i would never have known. I'll definitely watch it.
DELIGHTFUL!

A wonderful show. IMO, this updated version is better than the movie. I liked it so much, I saw it twice in London.
I saw it twice in London as well it was brilliant and amazing

Loved this show at Chichester Festival Theatre. Absolutely amazing and improved version of the old film which I'm not keen on

I really want to see it in the theatre but they are are not doing this one at the moment at least

Wonder if Mr Mackintosh now regrets closing down this kaleidoscopic production?

Would have loved to see the Tommy Steele version of this show. Love Flash, Bang, Wallop, All in the Economy and Money to Burn.
Charlie is sensational, but that mustard yellow is hideous. Whose idea was that?

Six feet under--Gower Champion passed away in 1980 at the age of 61
@@TexasPhoneMan It was a joke Joyce.
Not taking anything away but I bet Charlie stemp had a good 3 sum with Cameron and his partner xx
This was definitely not part of the movie...Tommy Steele is still the best Kipps and the movie is way much better
That is the classic 1967 film version which I do like
