  • Here is a 16 minute video on how to update the Skyline OS on a 2024 Road and Street Glide along with the late 23 and 24 CVO's.
please watch the first minute or so because I explain a mistake I made later in the video
VERY IMPORTANT EDIT AND UPDATE TO MY VIDEO!
Thank you Bradley Morris for pointing this out to me. I just re-inserted the second USB and the message did pop up!
I left the message exactly the way he sent it because the instructions are perfect!
Hey Greg. Good job, but I wanted to point out that you did not fully update your system, in particular your amp firmware. The message you saw during the 2nd USB update that says “update complete” is a false message. As called out in the instructions, at that point you need to leave the USB installed and allow it to reboot. At that point, after it has been booted up for a few moments, you will get another message asking if you want to update your amp software.

I want to point out that Skyline OS REC actually stands for RECOVERY. So that would be a previous, or backup version. That is why it is 2213D, which is a lower number than the Skyline OS (no REC) version which is 2237D. That is the most current version. Weird that they put the recovery version on top, but they do. HD just updated mine a week ago to 2237D, which is still in the non-REC line on the site.

Good information, thank you. I tried updating my 2023 CVO Road Glide several times, and didn't work and I am pretty good with computers and software. I even redownloaded the files several times and ensured they were unzipped. Not sure what is happening with mine, I attached the USB-C and the bike identified the connection, but once I pressed the begin button, nothing happened and I never saw any indicators that the system was downloading the new software. Wish it would just download upgrades by itself automatically, as the bike is connected to my home wifi network. Anyway, thanks for the video, glad it worked for you!!!

If you want to update your amp software, just start with the 2nd USB again.
There’s an easy way to check your amp software version. Go into settings, then audio, then speaker setup. Once in the speaker setup, you will see your amp info. Click more info and it will show you the software version. From the factory it is 1330. The updates puts it at 1380.

I was able to successfully update with the first USB thumb drive but I could not get the 2nd drive to work. I got an error message. My system indicates Skyline OS is version 240002213D. “Software shows 24000211D (no update). Is this correct? Any idea what I should do since 2nd thumb drive did not work successfully?
    Thanks for replying

Try to reload the second thumb drive with the software and make sure you format the hard drive before you unzip the file to it.
It definitely takes a longer time to unzip the files to it so maybe something didn't copy over correctly.
Also, are you using a type c thumbdrive? Or a Type A with a C adapter?

I had the same issue however I didn't get an error message. The first drive loaded without an issue. The second drive was plugged in but there was no response or prompt. It didn't recognize the USB. Thinking that it could be a thumb drive issue, I took the drive with the first file, re-formatted it, unzipped the second file onto it and tried again. I left it for 10 minutes but didn't get any prompts. Any ideas?

Did you make sure the thumb drive was formatted to exfat and not FAT32?

I did another video titled 2024 Road Glide and Street Glide Skyline OS and at 13:30 of that video I show how to put the bike in accessory mode. I also cover a lot of other things in that video that may be helpful

Greg, what do you use to make Carplay work?

I don't. I have an android. I've used a few of those adapters and they were hit and miss. I do have the Harley GPS but haven't tried it on any long rides yet

Link an iPhone to the bike and link a Cardo Bluetooth headset (or bluetooth workaround kludge mic device)
