- In this video we will show you our newest restoration/ conversion project - Volvo Laplander L3314 from 1963. It is an old military truck that we are going to restore and convert into a mini off-road camper. This truck needs a lot of TLC, but we love the way it looks and see a lot of potential! This video is the first of our new conversion series.
Would you consider restoring a vehicle like that? :)

Nice machine ♥
We agree! Thank you! 🤗
You guys have excellent taste in cars! Looking forward to seeing this conversion
Thank you so much! We also like the way this little truck looks. It's going to take a while until we see results, but it's not our first time. So we hope it will be easier this time! :D
Looks badass!
😃
Good luck on your restoration and the trip to Iceland. That should be a exciting trip.
Thanks! Yes fingers crossed! it won´t break don on us when we get there😅😉
What a great little truck and a Volvo at that!
Thank you! We love it! We think it can make a great little camper. :)
wonderful project, I can't wait to see this new vehicle on the splendid Icelandic roads!
You and us both! 😉😀
Off course its started, its a Volvo:) I have one of these in Norway in very good condition. Not comfortable but reliable ,built like a rock and extremly cool. "Olav Teigen maskinforretning" i Norge have all the parts u need., even bodyparts. Ships worldwide😊
Oh, that is a great tip and very good to know! Thank you very much! I wrote the name of the company down!🤗👍
Hey guys I definitely think you have a major restoration project there, hope you have deep pockets :) I think they should have paid you to take it away ! My concern is that it looks a little small. Will be interesting to see the project unfold.
Hahaha yeah, they actually wanted 2000 euro, but they lowered the price a little in the end. This model is pretty rare. I've read somewhere that there were only 9000 cars like that produced until another model was released. So there are not many of them left anymore. This model and the newer one do look pretty similar, but this one is a bit more rare nowadays. And now people sell them for a lot of money, especially if they are in a good quality.
It is a bit small, yes, especially compared to the bus. We are thinking about installing a pop top roof but we also want a roof rack, so that's something we will have to consider in the future. 😂 Another option would be a tent on the roof, but it's not very practical for camping in stormy weather in the North. So we'll see.. We have to get rid of all the rust first. 😂
Hi guys can't wait to see what it looks like when you finish restoring the van looks awesome xxx
Thanks Shelley! We hope it´s going to turn out awesome! 🤗
Nice one guys looking forward to it👍
Thank you, us too! It's going to be a lot of work, and a bit of a challenge considering the size, but we are really excited about it!😀
The nickname for them are Volvo Valp (dog puppy). And I think that one is a modell for the army in Norway.
yes that´s correct they were used by the Swedish and Norwegian army.👍
Can't wait to see how this unfolds. This could be your best adventure yet!!
Thank you! We are very excited about this build too! But something tells me it may take a while to finish this one! :D
Great project! I am looking forward to follow you on this adventure. Nice find.
Thank you for watching a following us! It is going to be a big project and take some time to restore it, but we are really looking forward to it! :)
How exciting! You have so many wonderful plans and projects in the pipeline... I wonder, have you seen 'Henry The Man Cave Camper' here on RUclips? It is a beautiful little Laplander similar to your latest purchase. He has fully restored Henry and had many super adventures in him, including Iceland, just as you intend to do. As always, Katja and Björn, I'm so looking forward to your next vlog! Take care guys👍😊
Hey Wendy! Thank you for the tip, maybe we can learn something from him! 😃 we´ll be sure to check it out! Thank you so much for the support! Take care 😍🤗
This is such a cool looking vehicle...... Looking forward to the project! Will be great fun 👍
Thank you! Haha yeah, as you can say in Swedish, it is "ugly-cute". 😂😂
@@Beelzebus 😂😂👍
Lunatics! I love it. I’d rent it right now. 😂
😂😂😂😂 Hahaha thanks! 😂😂😂 Absolutely! Just let us know which days are good for you. We'll throw in a madras for you and you are good to go! 😂😂 Don't forget to cover up that huge hole in the floor, so you don't drop anything in it. 😂
Very nice truck! I am excited to see how it is going to be. Good luck guys!
Thank you guys! It is going to be a lot of work, but we are really looking forward to this restoration. :D
This will be awesome! After seeing what you guys did with Beelzebus I'm looking forward to see what you come up with.
Thank you so so much! It is going to be so much work, but since it is our second restoration/ conversion we are pretty excited about it. 😀😀
Hi dear guys! After your previous video, I decided to learn about Volvo Lap. and now I realise how great the vehicle is. To me, it's a very good variant for Iceland if you didn't get used to living in posh hotels)). I see your determination, Björn, about the restoration and it seems the success of the project is a matter of time ( and money of course) ). It looks like one of the points of my future motorhome Scandinavian trip will become Gotland with renting the cosy cabin and Volvo Lap. for trial.))
Watching your projects with pleasure. Take care!
Thanks again for watching! Are you considering getting one of these trucks yourself in the future? They must be very fun to drive off-road! :D
Maybe, why not? Sometimes we've got these monsters for sale here in Russia (8000- 35000 euros.) But first I'll try yours for making the right decision.) What sort of petrol does it use?@@Beelzebus
Do you think you should buy one more Volvo ( as a donor) for the restoration?
@@user-bl7gg4ex2y it runs on 95 octane gasolene.
@@user-bl7gg4ex2y we would like to but they´re expensive and hard to find here.
This is gonna be very interesting project! But you have a ton of work💪...
Very! But it´s going to be fun! 😃👍
Wow, excited to see this unique vintage beauty transformed!
You said you don’t have Balthazar with you anymore?? Hope nothing bad happened with your hound... 🥺😥 ❤️
Hey! Thanks we´re going to make it great again😃.
Yes that´s correct, sadly he passed away😭.
Im sorry, but want to know what happened to Baltazar? And how old was he?
@@Beelzebus Noooo I am SO sorry. He was magnificent!!! Big hug!!! 🥺😣😖😫😩😢😭💕💝
@@corazonguiaya403 Balthazar was about to turn 7 in a few months. He got high kidney values some time ago so we kept him on special diet but possibly medicine for his joints or maybe something else affected his kidney values even more and eventually his kidneys started to affect his heart (possibly). At least is what we and our vet think. We noticed that he started breathing heavily even while resting, so naturally we went to the vet. It took a few days to get a proper diagnosis and a few days later we were sent to a bigger clinic on the Swedish mainland. We tried everything we could to save him, he was admitted to the clinic to try out a special treatment supporting both his heart and the kidneys. It is one of the best clinics in Stockholm in our opinion, but kidneys and heart is a bad combo we were told there. The treatment didn't work and so nothing could be done anymore. His heart arrhythmia developed into a beginning of DCM despite the treatment, a heart disease that some dog breeds are prone to get with age, just during that week he was in the clinic. DCM is usually not treatable. It really-really sucks. It's been about half a year now and I still can't think about him without crying, that is why we don't speak about that here for now. His passing affected us a lot, and is one of the reasons why we've had difficulties with posting here regularly. 7 years might not seem like much but Irish wolfhound is a giant breed and their life expectancy unfortunately is only 6-8 years. And time flies, we didn't even notice how our puppy grew up and then became old.
@@sophiemarcaurele thank you!
I have a 62 or 63 L3314 in New York USA. We should form a club
Nice! from what we´ve heard they´re quite rare in the US? have you done any work on it? was it hard to get parts? Club L33 maybe 😉😅👍
I'm from 1964. Unfortunately no one wants to restore me.......:)
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ну и как удалось приступить к осуществлению проекта

Thank you, us too! It's going to be a lot of work, and a bit of a challenge considering the size, but we are really excited about it!😀
