    There is a mistake in the voice-over of this video. It should state "Ashley *owned* a significant stake of Rangers". It currently says "owns". Ashley sold his stake in 2017. Apologies for any confusion.

    As a liverpool supporter and watching football since early 70's. I've always had a soft spot for Newcastle. When huge money started coming in, I always wondered why the likes of Newcastle and Forrest where passed by with people with huge bank accounts. If this happens for Newcastle, I hope they don't go the way like cheaty. More know as man city. Good luck Newcastle, I hope Ashley gets kicked well and truly out of your club.

  • @kevinscott1697
    @kevinscott1697 5 лет назад

    Ashley did pump about £110 million into the club to take the debt off the books but he effectively transferred the debt onto himself and said the club owed him all the money back plus the money he spent to buy it. So while the debt was taken off the books it wasn’t actually cleared and I don’t understand how you’re owed the money back that you’ve spent to buy something. He wants the club to be self sufficient and not in debt and that’s all very well but you live and die by decision making in football and he’s got too many decisions wrong, especially with appointments and not remaining competitively or he’s dithered making decisions and then panicked and got it wrong, he wants the club to be in the premier league but you can’t stand still and hope to scrape by with unproven cheap french players which he undoubtedly tried to do because he didn’t want to spend huge amounts of money to get decent players and therefore go into debt but that’s where football is a vicious circle and they were relegated again because of poor investment and so the club owed him money again in his eyes because he put another loan in to get promoted straight back. As for a takeover I do actually thinks he wants to sell but he wants the new owners to give him advertising and merchandise rights and they can buy the players so it’s not his problem anymore.

      What would be different if the fans ran the club instead of Ashley? Ashley is neither pumping money into the club (like the owners of PSG and Man City) nor is he bleeding it for profit (like the Glazzers). As they don't have millions to invest, the fans would have to run the club with a sustainable model, ie. the club's revenue should cover its costs. So, basically the same way as Ashley runs it. Yes, the workers might be treated better than the Ashley's Sports Direct employees, but the fans don't give s**t about this. All that matters to them is that the club doesn't get relegated and with a sustainable business model it's harder when other clubs don't follow the UEFA FFP rules.

    There was actually a £350million bid on the table last November. £150million up front, then £200million in instalments over the next few years. It even included a bonus of £50million up front if we were to qualify for the Champions League. Seems a pretty reasonable offer in my opinion. Rafa will probably leave at the end of the season when his contract expires, gutted Ashley is still in charge.

    You listed treading water and avoiding relegation as his priorities but he consistently refuses to invest enough to allow for any kind of confidence that we can avoid relegation. He's taken us down twice and at the time of writing we are heading for a third demotion under his ownership. So as well as being one of the worst people in the country he's also incompetent.

    Ashley is only bring
    Newcastle United down & I feel so sorry for The Toon Army they have buy far the most loyal fans in all the U.K as Newcastle United have won nothing since The
    Inter City's fairs Cup that is to say major trophys.
    Also Ashley may not have a stake in Glasgow Rangers but he still has a massive hold over the club through Sports Direct whare the club make very little from the merchandise that is on sale through Sports Direct
    Glasgow Rangers only makeing 45p from every £ of Club Merchandise sold through
    Sports Direct.
    All in all Mike Ashley should have nothing to do with any Sports team of any kind greed is his only motivation.

    Just like it would've been better if Hitler had become a painter, it would've been better, for Newcastle, if Ashley had become a squash player.
    Just for the record here, I support Sunderland! I enjoy defeating and embarrassing Newcastle, when we get to play. However, it doesn't mean I enjoy seeing this.
    The guy is a terrible human being. This dodgy character doesn't really want to sell Newcastle, as he makes a profit from them. He pretends to be willing to sell them every season to curb fan protests.

  • @anneeq008

    Why would anyone be an owner? People don't seem to appreciate the fact that it's just a business and it's the owner's own money being spent. I appreciate that supporters want a Shaykh Mansour at every club and all you care about is winning, but in the real world money has to be accounted for and made. And business ventures need to be profitable to succeed.
    I'm also not of the opinion that Wonga is evil. People should pay the consequences for their daft decisions. You see it on social media brazenly tagging their mates into posts regarding Wonga "hehe remember the Wonga night out John doe, hehe". The interest rate is clear as day, you can't make any profit loaning £100 and having that paid back in £8 installments over a year (rounding down before some smart Alec gets facetious).

    Only two mistakes on this video is the fact Ashley is a Chelsea fan. It’s believed to be Tottenham but apparently according to Lambias he didn’t like that reference. And the other is we aren’t financially stable as we owe MA a total of £140M that he gave us in interest free loans to blacken our books. So basically we owe him that money instead. So we’re technically in debt to ourselves till he sells up. That was his last best egg for selling. He’ll demand payment upon being sold. Although by now that should’ve been paid of even. He’s a real awful owner. Swearing at families at the ground etc. Shambles

    This is an incredibly biased piece. What is wrong with a football club that can sustain itself without a cash rich billionaire pouring in millions, everything wrong with modern football. Also, I’d recommend everyone to watch the questioning from the MPs to Ashley where he gives them a business lesson. Adding to this, the Labour Party and the trade union leader are quoted as an impartial source when they are quite the opposite. This is far from a balanced video.

    Being a former Arsenal fan I don’t feel bad for Newcastle fans, because they choose to support the club while it’s owned by someone who won’t commit back to them. You want radical changes to things you love you need radical actions, even if it means boycotting.

    • @cupertinoish
      @cupertinoish 4 года назад

      @RobC I stopped supporting them because I realized how important of a role ownership is to a club. Everything starts from their commitment and decision making. I can get behind questionable decisions but I have no tolerance of taking advantage of fans' undying love for their own profits. As long as this ownership remains the club will not act on behalf of the fans' interest, and it will always be owners first and fans last. If they don't care about fans I don't have many reasons to support them like a sheep. Now I just enjoy watching football without a team, and it's healthier for me this way.

I hate how people jump on the riches like they own them part of their money. If you miss the beginning his father mortgaged his house and he loaned him $10,000. They can do the same if they don't like the zero hour. It's a demand and supply.
