I'm sure others have mentioned this already, but there is a limiter screw on the right side behind the thumb throttle. I can tell this one in particular has the limiter screwed in.
Also, you don't buy these tao motors atv's or coolsters, Apollo's, etc.... without planning to do the following.....
    1. Know the quad. And if you can't turn a wrench, do not buy one.
    2. Replace the carburetor with a Mikuni. Don't run the knockoff chinese stuff. You can't pull the bowl to clean them, or adjust them correctly. Mikuni knockoff carbs are hit and miss. So just spend the 60 bucks for a Mikuni. And a few main jets.
    3. Open up the exhaust/debaffle. And replace the header gasket and torque to spec.
4 get rid of the crappy stock airbox, and run a pod filter. I run a uni dual stage in my daughters quad.
    5. Replace the coil with a quality coil. We run a good coil with an ngk boot. And run a ngk plug. I went a step hotter on the plug.
We also run a cdi that advanced the timing.
We re jetted and tuned the carb accordingly.
And put a good inline fuel filter in! If it has no fuel shutoff, install one. Run 91 or higher. 0 ethanol fuel. Never let the quad sit with fuel in the carb. If it will sit longer than a week, shut the fuel off with the quad running and let it run till it dies. (Carb is now dry)
At this point, you wouldn't believe the difference in power, starting, idle, how smooth it runs and how high it revs in comparison to stock. A whole different animal. And your reliability issues are nearly gone. For under 150 bucks. This is money well spent.
The new quads, 19+ do have better carbs, better starters, better suspension, etc etc..... Honestly they are just plain better. From the frame to the electrical, to the plastics, and everything in between. Still I would do the same mods listed.
At this point.... You'll likely be happy with the way the quad is. But for those like me and my daughter, we like to tinker. We like to make things better. So I'll buy parts, and she will buy parts, or chip in with purchases from her own money. She's just 8, but she will get her chor list done and I'll give her a .50 cent to $2 allowance for each task that she goes above and beyond. (Responsibility and a sense of work ethic....teach em young!)
Anyway..... She saved enough for a good chain. So I also geared down when doing the chain. We went with a custom set of sprockets, and a d.i.d 428 chain. We went up 4 teeth on the rear.
HUGE bump in torque/holeshot. Only lost a couple mph. Which is ok. The quad does 40 as is. Plenty fast in all honesty.
We will be doing a racing CVT in the near future, and may eventually do a top end swap to a 150cc. Maybe a 171cc build. Who knows.
Also, forgot to mention, the biggest difference we made to the quad. .... Suspension!
The suspension is entirely too stiff. So i started with the rear. Then did the fronts. They are less than 200 bucks. Some well built fox knockoffs. The dampening and plush feel over the stock shocks is nuts.
And ABSOLUTELY go through and put blue loctite and/or thread sealants on EVERY nut and bolt on the quads and TIGHTEN them! I cannot stress this enough..
Also put dielectric grease on your plug wire and all electrical connections.
Maintain it properly and it will last forever.
This really is the same for recommendations whether it is a china quad or a Japanese bike.
These are my recommendations. These quads are 800-1200 bucks new shipped to your door, depending on if you buy them 90% assembled as we did or not. We have around 1500 in hers now total, and i wouldn't trade it for another youth jap bike. She has a polaris sportsman 90 also. It has had some problems. It costs more to work on. It is a 05 2 stroke though. 07 and up polaris is a 4 stroke. Probably a better quad. But The china quad hasn't had a. Lick of problems. I knew what I was getting into prior to the purchase however. I planned accordingly.
All of these quads run a gy6/gy6 knockoff if you will. They're a bulletproof setup when maintained properly. They're as easy as they come to wrench on and hop up. Great place for the children to learn some wrenching. And there are so many cool mods and alot of performance parts for these gy6's. On the cheap. Motors themselves are cheap. Really everything is cheap to fix if you diy.
Is a yamaha, honda, polaris, can am, or Suzuki better? Yes and no.
Perhaps if you compare Apple's to oranges. Yes if you're comparing full size adult quads. A tao motors 125 dirtbike will not run with a yz 125 dirtbike. 2 different ballparks. But $1k vs $2500-$5k.(comparing new quads) For a child, no. I think you're paying for the name on a youth quad. And the over priced servicing. If you aren't able to wrench or do simple mechanic work, the china quads lack the support and service centers. None around me atleast. But I don't need one. If you need one, buy a honda or something so you have the support for your 50 dollar oil changes and 500 dollar carburetor replacement. 300 dollar valve adjustments, 100 dollar battery replacement. Etc. And whatever else they can gouge you on.
Just my .02 cents. Pick your poison.
But no matter the situation on amount of money.... keep the kids outside, doing fun things, and learning. You can't put a price on that! 👍
Take care and be safe everyone

      @@bilalmuhammad2924 thanks man!
Work ethic is a dying breed for sure. As is respect, common sense, a sense of pride, etc.. It's up to us to make sure our kids grow to be Men and Women. Not remain boys and girls...... Or other things. (I won't get into that)
      Anyway.....Keep up the good parenting!
Also, if you can find a china quad right now, I do think Tao Motors, coolster, and apollo has the best bang for your buck. Try to find a newer model.
Like the Tao Rex, which I belive is discontinued now has disk brakes front and rear. And digital speedometer, better suspension, updated motor and rear carrier, and also comes with a Kehin carb which is pretty decent quality. I believe the new tao cheetah and t force also have the same newer motor, and the raptor has the new motor with the kehin carb. Those are good machines. Stock has been nearly Zero on the china quads from what I've seen lately. But dealerships in different areas still have some available. If you can't find one, look into a Tracker or Kymco. Both the same. Kymco is the major manufacturer for yamaha, kawsaki, and Suzuki. The larger name company just puts their spin on them. Same chassis and motor however. Good luck to you 👍
      Take care!

As others have said, throttle limiter or cable not adjusted right. Chinese ATVs are not very well made and usually will be very frustrating. Plastic fades quick, the suspension is poor and corrosion happens quickly. Most used Japanese ATVs will run between 2,500 to 5,000 dollars and will need work. If you bought a used ATV for 500 bucks just for an occasional beach trip then you are on the right track.

If the carb change doesn’t do enough get a different sized front gear for the trans . I’ve reviewed several of these types of ATV’s and factory yes they are underpowered but for small not too costly mods you get a pretty good Atv . Don’t knock it till ya mod it bud there not a bad entry level Atv for the price and 2 for 1000 you can’t beat that out a couple hundred into em and you’ll be happy 🤘🏻🐿🤘🏻

hi ure atv is new and once the engine brakes in then it would get more power. so what u need to do is put better pulling on low speed and u need to buy new sprackts for ure chain. and then it can work alot better on low speed . i have the smaller atv 's and the this one two same engine which is 110 cc. and u can also put a bigger jet in the carb becuse this atv bogges down when u press the throttle.

There's a lot to unpack here. That thing runs like crap and it's obvious you have know idea how to competently maintain and tune it. We have a Tao Bull 200 and build quality is great and it's a blast to ride.

Don't tell her to punch it in soft sand I don't care if you have a Honda if it's only 2x4 it will get stuck too. You have to know how to ride in the sand. Light throttle. Better tires that are wider in back would help ALOT.
