I'm getting so tired of falling. My shame deminishes my motivation to keep getting back up and walking forward. I'm a slave to sin rather than a slave to God. 'Discouraged' is an understatement.
Why would you rely on your motivation, my brother? Hope in the Lord... Not your own. Isaiah 40:28-31 ESV [28] Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. [29] He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. [30] Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; [31] but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
I understand, I am where you are. Two words come to mind........."but God".....I can keep going. I pray and hope you can too. Somehow we walk together.....WITH GOD holding us up.
may we leave the hopeless of perfectionism and defeat, may we confess to our Lord daily knowing we are justified and sanctified in HIs Spirit as we fight sin!
One caveat: Matthew 7:18 - A good tree can’t produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit. I think we ought to separate good deeds from evil deeds. And say that good deeds come from the good heart in us (Christ in you). And Evil deeds comes from the evil heart (which I consider could be indwelling sin and/or the enemy). Luke 6:45 - The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks. Galatians 2:20 - I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me. 1 Corinthians 2:16 - "For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct him?" But we have Christ's mind. I recall the Parable of the weeds: Matthew 13:24-30 - He set another parable before them, saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field, but while people slept, his enemy came and sowed darnel weeds also among the wheat, and went away. But when the blade sprang up and produced grain, then the darnel weeds appeared also. The servants of the householder came and said to him, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where did these darnel weeds come from?’ “He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and gather them up?’ “But he said, ‘No, lest perhaps while you gather up the darnel weeds, you root up the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and in the harvest time I will tell the reapers, “First, gather up the darnel weeds, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”
