exactly and John is a nice guy in person (met him at some cons). It's like when Borderlands replaced the VA for Claptrap, it's just not the same, Bender and the other characters John does are iconic and his voice cannot be replaced. pony up studio!
As a mother who's breastfed 2 children for a year each, I hugely appreciate you sharing your perspective! Can't tell you how exhausting it is being guilted for feeding my children!
Mothers literally can't win. Choose to breast feed? People will get mad at you for doing it in public. Choose to bottle feed? People will criticize you for not breast feeding. It sounds exhausting.
I'm glad Tara Strong is standing up for this. She's truly one of the all time best voice actors, and so is DiMaggio. Good luck to all voice actors getting what they deserve!
@@Chachi97 I’m honestly not surprised. There are some voice actors that are fucking insane. Google “Nancy Cartwright Scientology”. Fuckin mind blowing.
I respect Adidas' use of "shock value" but also showing the breast shape of the models braless sounds EXTREMELY helpful to me! I can now compare my breast shape and size to the models to best find my fit and it's always an issue I have with online shopping, and this seems to solve that problem!
Fun coincidental fact that this involves Futurama. The Voice Actor behind Fry, and numerous others like Farnsworth, has stated in the past he used his normal average everyday voice for it with no embellishments. He said the reason for it was specifically to make him very hard to replace with ease and it not heavily alter the Character voice in the process. See a great many people can do a copy of Mickey, Farnsworth, bugs Bunny, Zoidberg, etc etc. But on the other hand trying to accurately and completely copy a real person's normal everyday voice is VERY hard unless the person has a very distinct voice and even then its harder then a character voice because there is so much subconscious nuances you would have issues copying. A funny coincidence since this involves Futurama.
I saw John DiMaggio at a comic con, and listened to him on hours of audio commentary on futurama, and he's totally right. I'm a huge fan of all the voice actors on that show. He's a professional actor and just because he's a voice actor and not a hollywood mainstream actor does not diminish his talent and contribution to the franchise. Shame on Hulu for not recognizing this.
Right? This is like trying to do Archer or Bob's burgers without H Jon Benjamin. The voice is intrinsically tied to that character. Their performances are significant factors in the ongoing and prolonged success of their shows.
@@AceHufflepuff That movie is so good. "I'll need something to wear....and a very big truck." "Anything else?" "I'll need some guys....not these guys cause well they're kinda dead." that pause kills me.
And some celebrities are terrible voice actors. It’s a different skill just like stage acting is different from a closeup. Too often studios choose name recognition over talented but less known voice actors
@@MilwaukeeWoman While it's true that voice actors are easier to replace, it's by no means easy when we're talking about show-carrying characters like Bender. People would find it super-weird and it most likely won't work...
I was diagnosed with ADHD at 38. It has been missed for years and instead treated as anxiety, depression, brain fog. It was only because my wife read an article about a woman whose husband had ADHD that made her turn around and say she thought I had it. Several sessions later and I'm diagnosed with 7 out of 9 of the traits of adhd.
I teach elementary school and the few genuine ADHD students I’ve had to be a part of the initial testing of or meetings to set up the accommodations for, every time the parents listened to what the students may feel or experience or struggle with and you can SEE on their face as they realize they have it too. Most of them say they think they might as they’re going through it. Of course, there’s 10 times as many students who get the diagnosis from the shadier doctors in town so the parents can ask for things that students with ADHD don’t get, like reduced classwork or getting to take their tests on the computer or on paper (pretty much whatever they aren’t currently taking them on) or asking for it to be read aloud to them when the kids themselves are normal or above grade level readers. 🙄
Bravo to Adidas! I worked as a bra fitter and there are so many women who think their breasts are not "normal" and there is something wrong with them. Breasts come in so many shapes and sizes, and they are all normal!
Yes to this! I would say many women who saw this add just looked for boobs that looked like theirs. I bet it's nice to see yourself represented and know there is a bra for you. Mostly men seem to be upset by this because they are thinking it's sexual 🙄
The boob thing has always been a big deal to me because I grew up thinking I had horrible freak boobs because the only time we see boobs in the media it's sexualised and therefore idealised. There are absolutely girls out there growing up with low/wide set/otherwise different nipples, unevenly sized or even just differently shaped boobs who think they need "fixing" and I'm all for any kind of advertising that normalises all boobs, and paves the way for more boob-normalising. They're just chest lumps, calm down! ETA This was a really satisfying show for some reason, thanks Phil!
The ADHD ads always made me feel uneasy on TikTok. They generalize the entire disorder into one or two quirky traits. Feels so wrong to profit off of young people to push medication on them through a TikTok.
What I don't understand is the fact that why people still see ads online today. I haven't seen ads in years because there's so many resources out there to block ads. And you can just create your own list for the ones that's not blocked. There should be no reason to ever see ads.
Also kids can just be hyper... Like I knew kids who were thought to have ADHD then baseball season starts in spring and the guy is a model student.. ADHD is more in depth than a 30 second add can cover.. It's dangerous to over simplify medical information
@@Home_Run_Kid72 I agree. ADHD is the current trend on TikTok to self diagnose with. Next month it might be something else. Unfortunately this also takes away from those that actually have ADHD by generalizing it into such a small bubble. TikTok needs to do something about letting these ads target kids.
All bills should have a sunset clause where if they aren’t voted on again they are repealed. You can intend for a certain outcome and end up with other horrible outcomes and then it just stays on the books when it shouldn’t be.
@@mikerada2773 Although that's true in some cases, I don't doubt that some lawmakers would take that as an opportunity to get rid of laws they find inconvenient for their profits. And also use that as an excuse to avoid passing new legislation.
@@slashingkittens isn’t that the truth! Lol I hope it happens for the idiot fucks pushing the whole “you can flip houses!” Thing. It’s really contributed to the housing bubble by making housing prohibitively expensive for the majority of the working class.
@Benevolent nah, it’s not on them primarily. This is on the city. Investors come in all forms but there are while companies who are exclusively about raising property value through flipping. You see them everywhere “will pay cash for your house!” signs for example. It preys on folks who have homes but can’t really afford to invest in a big renovation and repairs and think they couldn’t sell their house for more than whatever these skeezy companies are offering in cash. Developers don’t generally do anything to alleviate already overcrowded roads and highways. They aren’t really innovating housing. It’s sad. For example, Beaufort SC is a very old historic southern town. The North West quadrant is a section of the old do town with very small historic homes initially built for the surplus of newly freed slaves right after the Civil War. They were actually nicknamed “Freedman Cottages” for that very reason. It’s been a black neighborhood for the majority of it’s history and only in the last couple of decades has that changed. The city survives on tourism and retirees looking for their slice of southern living. It’s such a blatant example of gentrification I cannot stress that enough. What’s worse is the erasure of the Gullah/Geechie. This is is a one-of-a-kind culture that has survived hundreds of years in that very limited area of the country. Those outer islands have been Gullah land for generations since slavery. They are being bought out by stupid contractors for their stupid fucking beachfront vacation homes and not a damned thing is being done to stop it. It makes me sick to my stomach. The city cares nothing about the culture, the people who have been there for generations. They don’t care about the other families who have made it their home. They care only about catering to a very limited demographic: upper middle class and wealthy white retirees and tourists. I’d love to see a news story exposing that shit.
@Vic's Vlogs Hope you're doing all right friend, you are MORE THAN the thoughts in your head, you are loved and irreplaceable and deserve a good, happy life ✨💕
Just want to say THANK YOU for bringing your voice to the conversation about domestic violence and how it looks, or can look, in relationships. When you're in it you don't see it as bad as it is because the ups deceive you and the downs trap you, and the cycle continues. If I would've heard a message like that sooner I know I would've tried to get out. I had no family, no job, all my 'friends' were through him, and I pulled myself into myself. And even though on bad days I'd be locked out the house to sleep outside, I'd think, it will get better cause it always does. He never said sorry but instead any small ounce of affection I got I felt was all the apology I needed. I gave up so many parts of myself to keep a roof over my head, otherwise I would've been made homeless or in a homeless shelter. Which is okay, there's no shame - I work in homeless/supported accommodation now and I give support to people who were in similar situations, often times worse. As soon as I got my first pay cheque from a new job I fought to keep, I left one day and never went back. One day it clicks. But I wish it did sooner. There needs to be more support for people who are going through the most traumatic moments of their life. It's not until they get out somewhere safe that they process their trauma, and it is so important to get continued support past that. So, in the same token - if you are struggling, please follow those links or reach out and get help. You DESERVE better. I thought I didn't at one point and thought it would all get better and they would change - I am sorry, but it doesn't and they don't. Be kind to yourself and love yourself first, always.
I’ve had adhd my entire life, it’s not fun or quirky. I was a “troubled youth” all through high school, I was gaslit by professionals for asking to be assessed and the lack of diagnosis caused depression so bad I lost my job and dropped out of school. It wasn’t until I was 18 and put on meds (after trial and error) that I managed to get my life together. These ads need to stop, adhd is not one size fits all.
I got the feeling that they were trying to make adhd/add quirky. I was diagnosed early with both and have had my share of issues throughout school and life. I’m 25 now and still haven’t fully figured myself out.
@@EnBelli another problem is if anybody with any sort of drug abuse history says they have ADHD, they're laughed out of the room by the medical professionals to assume they're just drug seeking ( and of course they might be).
Oh man, I wasn't gaslit by professionals, but I was constantly told I was lazy and needed to just try harder while growing up by parents and teachers. I was diagnosed less than a year ago (I'm 26), and coming to terms with the fact that a tiny lil pill is all its taking to help me get my life back. I feel lucky that the first meds I've tried work pretty well with minimal side effects, but the depression from trying to grapple with all that shit hits so hard. I hope you're doing better!
As someone who didn’t know they had ADHD until tiktok, I have always thought those ads felt predatory. I went through a mental health evaluation and was formally diagnosed, but if I hadn’t been taken seriously at my doctor’s office, I would have been tempted to try one of the services like that advertised to me.
Yeah, same. And cerebral specifically was diagnosing based strictly off a few questions and throwing out adderall. I'm well aware there are people there that needed it and doctors won't prescribe it due to bias, but a pot of people got the wrong meds :/
It should be illegal - I mean literally illegal, punishable by law - to have Futurama *without* John DiMaggio. Either give that man what he deserves or shut the whole operation down.
If they weren't going to pay him enough, they weren't going to pay Billy West enough, either. Billy just been used to getting screwed longer than John.

I was finally diagnosed with ADHD at 28, my husband knew I had it years before I did and have me the push to see a doctor. It was much more difficult than I expected, I was put on a 5 month waitlist by my GP to see a specialist who did a 2 hour consult for diagnosis. I was then put on anxiety medication for 3 months to rule out generalized anxiety disorder before starting on ADHD medication. I’m honestly glad there were so many steps before getting the medication and a lot of points along the way I could check in with my doctor, it helped knowing that we were all on the same page and that I wasn’t being given something unnecessarily.
I love Futurama, but it won't be the same without Bender (aka John Dimaggio) and replacing him with another voice over actor feels like hiring a scab and I don't think I could watch/support the show if they do that.
Damn I didn't know this about the show returning, luckily it was on sale in the MS store and now I proudly own the entire series so I'm good either way✌🏿
+Tarantula Collective Well, the announcement did say that he wasn't coming back... for now. Most likely, he has not reached a deal coming back as Bender.
I was diagnosed with ADHD this fall, and after treatment, I'm experiencing Anxiety and Depression - both tied to successful ADHD treatment and underlying issues that I could not have known about without ADHD treatment. ADHD isn't just a quirky tittok trend, it's highly complex and needs advice from a doctor, not a tiktok ad.
I've suspected my son has ADHD since he was 3, which made me go "I wonder..." cause his dad is obviously stable. So I went for assessment in August. Sure enough I have ADHD (with the accompanying depression and anxiety) and October we got a diagnosis for our son. Our relationship and understanding of each other in the family has gotten so much better and I'm such a nicer mom cause I know what's going on. All that to say, this is a good journey to be on and I'm glad youve found your answers and I agree it's a serious issue that needs proper diagnosis.
@@miscellaniac3367 I recently got a diagnosis (at 26 lol) and watching me get mine has made my mom realize that she shares some of my more significant issues. It's been great to talk about symptoms with her and finally feel seen. Seeing your comment made me so happy!
I'm glad getting a diagnosis and treatment was an easy thing for you but for a lot of people, it's not. I'm sure there are some people that self diagnose to be unique or something but self diagnosis might be the best some people can do.
I was lucky enough to have parents that fought tooth and nail for me to get help when they saw me struggling in middle school. Dozens of instances of horrible impulse control, constant stealing, inappropriate sexual behavior, and declining grades... it was after my second suicide attempt that my parents got me in with a phenomenal psychiatrist who specialized in adolescents with behavioral problems. It took almost a year of medications, therapy, and quite a bit of trial and error before we found a solution in the form of medication (Concerta) and regular therapy. Being spacy or quirky is not the same as constantly struggling to focus and understand everything around you and being so overwhelmed to the point that you feel like ending your life is the only solution. I can honestly say that without my parent's intervention, I wouldn't be here today.
as someone who often struggles with intrusive thoughts, thank you for touching on that topic and sharing your own experiences! thank you for the gentle reminder that intrusive thoughts are not who you are, and are not always connected to feelings of actually wanting to cause harm.

As someone with OCD and for whom intrusive thoughts is a core annoyance, hearing that I am not my thoughts helps. Even though I know that logically, sometimes it's easy to convince myself otherwise. So thank you. When my sister was misdiagnosed as having adhd I looked at the symptoms list and while some of them I related to, some I did not. Same with my sister. I think adhd is chronically misdiagnosed because like you said it overlaps with a lot of other disorders.
Yes! I hate when people say adhd is over diagnosed because it implies that a bunch of neurotypical people are being diagnosed with mental disorders. I also think it negates the fact that many people don’t get diagnosed. I love saying that adhd is misdiagnosed not over diagnosed because many people who are misdiagnosed with adhd still have something else going on causing the symptoms
I am so sick of breasts being compared to genitals 🤦♀️ the bra industry created this problem so they need to be actively working to fix it! Nipple should just be a nipple no matter who owns it.
It’s a great empowering campaign. No, most women don’t know that breasts come in all shapes, forms and sizes. Just like the rest of society, women also have the perfect (aka fake) image of breasts shoved down our throats and left feeling like we’re inadequate. This campaign is a great reminder to all women that natural breasts do in fact look a certain way and we’re all unique. It’s a reminder not to compare ourselves to fake breasts that we see everywhere now. Also a great reminder to men and keeping their expectations in check.

I have been diagnosed with ADHD (twice actually) A lot of the symptoms seem "normal" to neurotypical people, the difference is in the severity, so it's really easy to project your problems onto ADHD Like 'tasks are hard to complete' It often takes more energy to get myself started on a task than the actual task takes. Get tested if you really think you need to though, even just having an explanation for why your brain is 'like this' helps
Same boat here, took 3 visits (one lasted like 6 hrs) and 2 doctors who're ADHD experts to confirm my diagnosis. My concern with that story is that it'll portray medications like Adderall as a way to lose weight, something that too many people unfortunately do
Exactly, it’s like saying “are you feeling sad? Do you not want to do anything? You probably have depression. Take this survey to get started on an SSRI”. Diagnosing mental disorders is tricky, and medication is not always the answer
I also got diagnosed with ADHD although I'm not taking any medication for it cause I can't afford it right now. I feel like this misinformation around ADHD leads people to take it less seriously and lessens the amount of accommodations we're allowed. Like yeah everyone spaces out once in a while or forgets but people don't understand that it's much more constant and severe when you have ADHD and that's incredibly debilitating
I know!! I was diagnosed with ADHD/anxiety disorder when I was 7 and it took going to therapy and several tests I’m not sure how many days it took, it was so long ago I can’t remember. Most of the symptoms shown in TikTok are normal for neurotypical people to go through that is just not to the extent of adhd. And there are so many symptoms of adhd and it’s very complex in my opinion. I am worried that it just makes people with ADHD loose the legitimacy because the people that really need help might not get help. I hated the whole mindset of she’s just not trying hard enough or she’s just a kid when I was growing up.
"Do you ever have thoughts like that?" All the time, thanks OCD :') Appreciated the chuckle there, fun to have the reminder I'm not *completely* crazy.
I was diagnosed with ADHD after speaking with a psychologist. It began when I self-identified as potentially having ADHD from the TikToks I had been watching. I understand the skepticism because all of a sudden it seems like so many people, predominately women, are coming forward after being diagnosed late in life. I challenge this by saying the platform provided a stimulating environment that people who are Neurodivergent thrive in. We are finally realizing our “quirks” are things that were overlooked, the standards for diagnosing women are different since it’s not just hyper children. So much clicked after listening to others stories and the other issues I had been suffering from like anxiety, depression, and binge eating all stemmed from what I now know is ADHD. My quality of life has improved vastly since being diagnosed. I have the energy I need because I was put on proper medication. I also understand myself better and I don’t feel like a failure all the time. If I had gone much longer without proper treatment I probably would have taken my life sometime in the past year. I think these companies taking advantage of that vulnerability is disgusting but the conversation still needs to be had because there are still people like me struggling to stay afloat.
Yes! I have found much more solidarity and knowledge about my condition with these creators than anything negative. The problem is such a lack of general knowledge leaves room for predatory companies, which is exactly why these creators are important to increase general knowledge about ADHD.
Increased awareness is very important, especially in highly misdiagnosed communities like women and people of color (which other woman of color, really fucking sucks), so I do appreciate the awareness of people can realize their behaviors can get help, and that they are not abnormal for having these behaviors. However, self-diagnosis makes me uncomfortable, at least a little bit, because there are a lot of people misdiagnosing themselves with a lot of mental illnesses, like literally six or more, when at that point it's pretty obvious they are mentally ill, but they do need assistance from professionals to get the help they do need
For me having people talking about ADHD on tiktok has been a very good thing. It made me really look at my behaviors and struggles. It took a long time but seeing other adult women talk about their path to diagnosis led to me getting diagnosed with ADHD at 33. I'm not sure if it's just the algorithm but all the educators that I've seen talk about ADHD have very much pushed the narrative of "talk to your doctor" instead of just self diagnosis. I fear that if tiktok cracks down on people talking about ADHD creators who are doing a lot of good will also be caught up and have their platforms destroyed. And then people like me would never be able to find the help they need.
Yah there have been a lot of amazing adhd advocates and creators who have come forward to help de-stigmatize adhd I really hope that it will lead to more representation and more accurate representation in other media as well.
My concern is far less with creators and moreso with ads. Some creators, like connor dewolf, have been hugely influential in initiating conversations with doctors and going to therapy and normalizing/destigmatizing behavior patterns. Acceptance and understanding is a big part of it, but the ads are predatory and reductive. Self diagnosis of mental health issues has always been a thing, but it seems to point to there being a mental health issue if youre diagnosing yourself with something. My diagnosis took a lot of work with my doctor and therapist, but it has been worth every second in hindsight. The creators that are encouraging discourse with professionals are great, the brands and companies targeting their audience with miracle fixes and instant diagnoses are what should be cracked down on with vigor.
My parents kinda of knew I have adhd but the stigma was so huge in the 90’s that they never officially tested me and now that I’m a grown adult in my 20’s that’s finally medicated and seeing how normal people’s brains function is sooo wild and amazing
@TheGreatWhodini I guess I haven't really seen it, not sure it's it's because I'm Canadian and Canadian tiktok is a bit different but I dont get ads. But I can only imagine how they could prey on the uncertainty of people who are struggling.
You're correct about the unspoken rule amongst voice actors. It's very similar to scab work but on an individual level so it's also personally insulting. They won't be able to find someone to replace DiMaggio peacefully.
As a woman with ADHD who didn't get diagnosed until my mid 20s, the misinformation rampant on TikTok about a disorder that destroyed my life for years is extremely obnoxious. It took me so long to be believed. It took so long for people to finally understand that I wasn't just lazy or unmotivated. There is actively something wrong with how my brain works... It's not some quirky "omg sparklez rofl!" It's a problem. I forget to fucking eat because of this thing but because you can't sit in a chair normal you have ADHD? Sure Jan... Anyway I think my point on this is we need to do better about spread factual information AND make access to diagnostic services more available.
YES! Family members and my partner have the suspicion that I may suffer from ADHD, as it's a common disorder linked with another diagnosed disorder of mine. But if you talk about ADHD in Germany, people seriously believe ADHD is an "attention-seeking disorder". I can't mention that that's misinformation and factually wrong without people accusing me of being politically correct. Holy shit.
I teach elementary school and I see this happening in real time. I have students who get tested and diagnosed with ADHD, genuinely, and I have to be a part of their SpEd meetings. As the SpEd teachers and whoever else start listing the actual symptoms of ADHD, you can see the parents start to realize that they might have it too. It is something that can be inherited, after all. But more kids like those ones skate by undiagnosed, while my kids who just need an adult to tell them no more often get the diagnosis from the shady, in town once a week doctor so mom can ask for her precious angel to not get written up or get less class work or get tests read aloud to them even though they can read on or above their grade level. And then they get mad when we won’t give them those things. I even had one literally say “my friend told me her kid got ADHD and didn’t have to pass tests anymore. I want that, why can’t you give me that!”🙄
Yup- no one realizes adhd that's untreated that long, as was also my case, it leads to sever depression and anxiety, burnout, boredom so severe I'd have rather died than deal with it anymore, inability to focus on the one thing I need to focus on even if it's my partner crying to me about the day they've had, memory problems to the point of forgetting I needed to mail that IMPORTANT GOVERNMENT DOCUMENT 2 days ago, etc. It isn't fun lmao
I think with the Adidas campaign its important to remember the history and context between the advertising industry as a whole and the exploitation of women's bodies. Using bare breasts in advertising should generally be considered an indicator of a potential issue, but I don't think it means it *is* an issue. I think its perfectly reasonable and fully warranted to ask the question "Is this about women's empowerment or is it about getting a product stuck in mens' heads because boobies?" Personally, I think the nature of the product makes it very unlikely that the advertising is male-oriented, because its typically not mens' money being spent on Sports Bras, and on the occasions that it is you'd still be better served pitching the product to the person who'd be using it. This isn't lingerie where men buying it for their partners is expected to be a large portion of sales.
On its surface, it shouldn't make men (namely men who like women) want to buy sports bras, but I think there's some capacity for the ad to translate its appeal to men into men buying Adidas products in general. Though if anything, I'd hazard it'll mostly be the outrage/controversy marketing that gets the sales boost.
They canceled the show 4 times and are shocked and surprised that he is asking for high pay? Lets see you get fired from the same job 4 times for piss poor reasons and not demand more money the 5th.
I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 19, and I'm so frustrated that I wasn't diagnosed sooner. It is blindingly obvious in my social life especially now that I'm floundering in college, but since I got ok grades in high school and would have done better if I was just more on top of my work, my family thought I was just lazy and/or too perfectionist for my own good. Since the diagnosis was laziness, the treatment was "just do it". In reality, I couldn't motivate myself to "just do it" because my brain just does not release dopamine when I find a task overwhelming or uninteresting unless I find strategic ways to work around it, and my diagnosis is what led me to those strategies. Medication has enabled me to practice those strategies, but it is by no means a magic button or a requirement for treating the disorder. The problem is, I know there are so many people who share my story. For women, ADHD often isn't diagnosed until adulthood. We tend to be inattentive-types; we're more hyperactive with our heads than with our bodies, whereas the stereotype is the little boy who can't sit still in class. It can be so hard to get medication even with a valid prescription from a trusted physician you've been seeing for years. Pharmacies aren't allowed to keep them for more than a few days before they have to ship them back, they have little control on when they'll get new stock, there can be stigma when you pick it up, and this all makes for the perfect storm for people who have trouble doing stuff on time especially through the pandemic. I'm careful with my medication; I don't take it when I have breaks from work and I've never developed cravings, addiction, or dependency. I take breaks when I start having to take more to get the same effect. To keep my prescription, I have to see my physician every 3 months to make sure I'm taking it and I'm not having any major side-effects. I don't use tiktok (I know it's going to be ADHD kryptonite if I do so I've chosen to abstain) so I don't know how bad it is over there. I know they've had issues with other disorders in the past and mental health positivity can draw a lot of engagement. Self-diagnosis should never be a first or only step. In general though, I think mental health positivity and removing the stigma and encouraging people to see a professional is a good thing. I think medication should be more accessible for those of us with a legitimate reason to use it, and that a controlled prescription is always better than the self-medication that can result from not being able to find a prescriber or denying you have any issue in the first place. Caffeine, which often has a mellowing effect for those of us with ADHD much like prescription stimulants, is a stimulant that people can and do get addicted to. Hell, I've seen people get hooked on pre-workout and others act like it's a personality treat to need caffeine to function. But it's big bad and scary to be taking it in a longer-lasting, more compact, and often cheaper form with a gentler crash; usually accompanied by physician advice/monitoring, strategies from a licensed therapist, and a community of people online sharing their strategies. I honestly don't know why shipping these prescriptions straight to your door hasn't come sooner, and I think this model has the potential to be a really important service if it comes with a decent amount of physician verification.

A lot of Realtors / house companies when they're building something new claim they'll have some affordable housing or make some affordable housing and it ended up being some twisted lie
@@jhernandez7132014 I thought the same thing when I first seen the news articles then I looked into it and the little bit information I seen I'm like they're talking about affordable house not low income house they was talking about 300K+ and expensive apartments people need to realize it's a different between affordable house and low income house cuz technically every house is affordable if you make enough for it
Franco pronounced it correctly, the German way which is the country of origin of the company. Most Americans pronounce it incorrectly by empansizing the "di".
Apparently that's the correct pronunciation. But I remember a content creator pronouncing it that way in a video involving RUN DMC who have a song called "My Adidas" pronounced the American way. Like, read the room 😝
I love how Dave is trying to raise his genuine concerns about the future of his community and everyone else in the room just giggles after every sentence he says
Personally, while I understand that Adidas is doing this primarily for attention and money, I also think that the stigmatism surrounding women's breasts is odd. They are completely natural and if we men get to choose how and when we go out without covering our nipples, why should women have to?
They have to cover their nipples because American society was borne out of Puritans bringing their backwards beliefs to a new world, and even half a millennium later, we’re still feeling the ripple effects from it. See also: America’s terrible stance on sex in general, to the point where we refuse to educate people about sex in a healthy and thorough manner, and thus refuse to help *prevent* things like unwanted pregnancies, STDs, and the need for abortions.
The adhd situation is so frustrating. I was diagnosed with adhd when I was 10 years by a trained professional. Was convinced I outgrew it and only with the last year did I revisit my condition to receive help and my symptoms have gotten better. The issue I see is that many people see ads or 60 second videos with shallow descriptions of adhd and people will just self diagnose themselves. This is incredibly harmful and waters down the severity of what adhd is. Adhd isn’t just “not being able to focus” or “being chatty” or “being hyper”. For me it’s desperately wanting to be productive by my brain want to do anything but allocate the mental resources to do so. Its also wanting to invest in hobbies or practice new skills but not being able to hold interest in a subject for more than a couple weeks. It’s wanting to read but when you look at a page your eyes dart around to random words and not being able to remember anything you’ve read in the moment but weeks later after it’s not important there it is crystal clear in your memory. Adhd isn’t just not being able to focus, it’s your whole life and it’s exhausting.
I think the “symptoms” stem from that they are on Tik Tok for hours, short videos with no real content, so it’s just ruining their attention spans. Also if I see another Speechify ad i’m going to lose it.
All I'll say about the Dave Chappelle news is this quote about good intentions while shutting down housing proposals; "This same misguided sense of political possibility guides well-meaning civic activists everywhere, who let the perfect be the enemy of the good and wind up with neither."
100% agree with you Phil. I'm so sick of men & women having 2 sets of rules, one for men and another for women. If a woman can't legally take her shirt off in public, then men shouldn't be allowed either, its that simple. It's funny how despite being 100% completely for equality of the sexes... I still get called toxic by both sides because there are a lot of people who don't want equality... most people seem to just want more privilege for themselves. Either make it legal for women to do what men do.... OR make it illegal for men to do what women aren't allowed. It seems like such a no brainer. PS. I find it hilarious that the person who tried to draw a comparison of women's breasts with a man's penis, unintentionally proved my point. The fact that they think there is any comparison there is the proof that people's mind sets are fucked up.
The only reason I can think of that it is different is because men in general get sexually aroused by womens breast and I’m gonna take a guess and say women in general don’t get sexually aroused from looking at a man’s nipples. I’m not a women so I can’t say for certain, if a women wants to correct me please do but that would be my guess at this moment
@@perry714. I do get aroused by looking at a man's nipples. I just don't act on my arousal right away (without permission ofc). I think in modern society when a woman shows her chest some men think it is ok to touch her just because they are aroused. But we shouldn't punish the woman for it. I think the biggest problem is how media sexualizes the chest. We do need to stop doing that as well. The chest is not for sexual pleasure. It is for babies to be fed.
How do you compare two completely different physical beings and end up with the rationale that they're exactly equal? In personal merit, sure. In all other matters? Likely not.
@@venusluv-i1v I agree the problem is the way it is perceived and that has been heavily influenced by the media. Me personally I have restraint although I find womens breast arousing it has to be under certain circumstances where I would even mention it let alone act upon it, you mention about breasts being for feeding children and that’s another problem I see quite a lot is people complaining about mothers feeding their children in public when as you said that’s how they’re fed what do they expect the baby to starve. I’m actually quite surprised you find them attractive but I suppose I can appreciate some men have nice bodies that women are attracted to so I guess it’s not so surprising lol
I was diagnosed as ADHD and had it confirmed years later. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I was correctly diagnosed as autistic. So many parts of my life make sense and have gotten easier with the correct diagnosis despite there being a lot of overlap. They are not the same thing and even professionals can make mistakes. Not something that can be self diagnosed or assessed by an online survey or quiz.
But at the same time… if it weren’t for tiktok I never would have gotten evaluated for autism. Despite all of the signs, since I’m a women, it was overlooked when I was younger as being shy and quirky. Tiktok led me to seek diagnosis and I’m extremely grateful
@@PaigeAKAPaper Yes. Absolutely. My adhd evaluation proved I wasn't adhd, but I had to take other tests for autism at my request. I would never have thought to ask if it wasn't for the tiktoks and reels. While I am a male and can't personally relate, I have at least a couple autistic female friends who struggled to get diagnosed. That for sure needs to change, and I don't mean to be dismissive of any of that. Just affirming that all the stuff encouraging people to self diagnose and treat can be unhelpful at best and dangerous as worst.
There really isn't any diagnostic overlap between ADHD and Autism! Actually, the symptoms of both tend to overlap with each other. I found out I was autistic before I got on TikTok but honestly, the ASD community there (aside from the autism moms) is incredibly helpful and full of resources. Honestly, the people who are self diagnosing off TikTok videos tend to only be on the "put a finger down" side of mental health TikTok. I feel like a lot of people don't realize that, so assume all self diagnosis as uneducated and harmful.
@@imsquiddly6836 I think self diagnosis is valid for acceptance, community and self understanding. Treatment on the other hand, in the form of medication, imo should be overseen by a doctor, making a diagnosis necessary. Self diagnosis was enough for my until I decided I needed treatment (medication) and now am seeking an official diagnosis to access that help. The problem is for people like me, adult female poc, it's a challenge. It can be cost prohibitive and a lot of professionals are very dismissive (I'll informed and unexpected even). Where I live an official diagnosis can also be an obstacle for employment (even though that's illegal, its the culture), and few If any accommodations are accessible. So all that has to be weighed. I'm glad you have the right diagnosis now though. Even when I was just self diagnosed, I had that same aha feeling where my life made sense.
Having ADHD and hearing people's "forgetfulness" always made me laugh. I would follow up with tales of forgetting full blown conversations with my wife seconds after it happened (almost leading to tears on my end) because my brain wouldn't allow me to focus on a conversation and watching their jaws drop lol
I honestly dont think I have ADHD but I can relate to forgetting things the moment I turn around 😆 hell even in video games I have to write stuff down cuz I'll go from the crafting bench to the resources in another box and forget all the resources I needed mere seconds later haha
Which almost always leads to that tiny bit of uncertainty in the back of my mind questioning whether or not Im actually forgetting something, or did they forget to tell me something important and are trying to use my mind to get away with it.
I hear ya, folks get stunned when i tell them i did not know my own sisters name until i was 12 purely because my brain could remember the majority of what i was being told. not to mention my generation was the Ritalin heavy gen so we had that fking with us.

I'm currently in the middle of getting a professional diagnosis for ADHD and it's literally non-stop advertisements by these companies. It's so strange seeing things as simple as "oh you might have ADHD if you're always late" I mean sure, that's what it looks like on the outside, but is that individual struggling to even leave because XYZ or are they just disorganized? these open interpretations aren't entirely wrong but do misrepresent the symptom as something else.
I know it's so bullshit. Being always late has nothing to fucking do with ADHD but is just sometimes a result of underlying causes of ADHD. I'm always way too early because of my ADHD making me bad at judging time so I always so show up way too early just in case.
these companies just simplify an illness just like they did with anxiety and depression, as someone with a diagnosed GAD I can tell that they just care about making Cash, same with some influencers out there. I know that all of us have a degree of anxiety but just because when you are about to fall sleep you sudenly remember something embarrasing that happend 2 years, that doesnt make you a person with an axiety disorder like some folks are trying to make you feel, that just makes you a human being
Yes! And how having a concoction of anxiety and depression as well as some other disorders can show a lot of the same symptoms. So when everyone nowadays has some form a mental illness at the surface those "key symptoms" blend together
It's so hard for me to change my mind about the Dave Chappelle story because most all California cities vote against affordable housing, it's a reason for the huge problem. The reason is that if rich people have a choice between they can do this in our backyard or they can't, they overwhelmingly vote not to.
Also, there's always a pretext as cover to block housing without outright saying that's what's going on. For example, a town just tried to declare itself a mountain lion habitat.

Never understood why Futurama got the treatment it did throughout its lifespan. Super consistent show with brilliant writing. They should’ve been pumping out quality content right alongside Southpark all these years.
I remember reading that Fox wasn’t keen on the show as they were super focussed on The Simpsons. They would constantly shift the air time, air episodes out of order & eventually this led to dwindling viewership & it got canned. It’s actually a testament to the show that it’s had attempted revivals thrice now, and garnered such a devoted fan base. It’s an excellent show. Hopefully Hulu finally treats it the way it deserves
I was diagnosed with ADHD this past year at 22. I am high functioning and did really well in school, so my problems were often overlooked. I have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety since I was twelve, but all attempts to treat those issues fell short. Finally, after getting a formal diagnosis, I feel like the core problem is being dealt with. I honestly appreciate some ADHD content on tiktok because it is about community sharing advice in management and providing a safe space to connect over our problems, BUT there is no such thing as self diagnosis. You have to speak with a professional. There is so much overlap between mental health disorders that it can be hard to tell what is going on without the proper information. If you think something is wrong, speak to your doctor. I am now on medication AND going to therapy (which is a huge part of treatment). I can genuinely say, I am feeling like myself for the first time in my life. So, the awareness and shared space to talk about our problems, especially for women, as far as ADHD is concerned, is important, but social media cannot give you a diagnosis. Seek out professional help.
I would disagree on your stance on self diagnosis. I (24F) had to wait 6 months for my ADHD appointment. That was from when I told my GP I thought I had it, which was around 3 months from when I first considered I might have it. I effectively “self diagnosed” myself and tried to implement ADHD solutions to help my situation until I could actually attend my appointment. I was crashing and burning in my university courses due to lack of focus and executive function, after coasting through high school since it was easy. My 5 year degree has become 7 years. Sure, self diagnosis won’t and shouldn’t give you access to medication, but other resources would definitely benefit the self diagnosed.
There is such a thing. How does one get an official one? By self diagnosing first. How do you diagnose a condition if you don't have any idea what it is. Giving it a label makes it easier to test for that specific thing, and it could end up leading to the correct one if by it turns out to not be. Edit: Just to be clear what I consider a "self diagnosis" is one that is properly researched. Not just only looking at tik toks. It can be a starting pointing into researching it yourself.
Fun fact: the intrisive thoughts like "I could just open the door" or "what if I just stepped off from this height" is called "Call of the Void". Its a completely normal phenomenon
Ohh my gosh, I just googled that and you're right! Never knew there was a term for it! I HAVE had those thoughts, even though I have no desire to do it and have never done it, but apparently the security guard gave in to his call of the void..... and filled the void with ball point pen, ouch! Thanks for the info!
Self-diagnosing mental illness is a double-edged sword, imo. Unfortunately, for some mental illnesses, the medical community is less likely to diagnose certain people groups even if they present the same symptoms. Thus, I can definitely see why some would self-diagnose. I personally think it's ok as long as people understand their limits. Both me and my mom have suspected that I have autism for a while, but I've never gotten an official diagnosis (although I have had a doctor mention that I have some common comorbidities with autism). In conversation I sometimes call myself autistic and sometimes I clarify I'm not officially diagnosed. I relate to some autistic stories when they come up in my social media feed. But that's the end of it. I could not fathom making a medical decision as impactful as going on medication based on a self-diagnosis. Not that I would want to, anyway, I feel like I've done well for myself. But if I needed help I'd try to get a diagnosis first. I understand that may be difficult for some people and I think we need to make that process more equitable. But, in general, we should not be encouraging people to go on mind-altering meds cause they think they have a condition that they will help.
I've had ADHD and been taking medication for it for almost my entire life, I don't see an issue with self-diagnosing as long as it remains within the realm of "I think I might have it". While the medication has always helped me and I frankly don't know where I would be without it I know from times I've accidentally over medicated this stuff will mess you up if you take it improperly and to encourage people to take it on the suspicion that they might have it is extremely predatory. ADHD meds will act as a dangerously potent and potentially addictive stimulant if you do not actually have it or if you take too much of it.
@@Milkmur The issue is that so many symptoms are shared between different mental illnesses that it makes self diagnosis extremely difficult. If I take an autism self diagnosis test, it will say I have autism. The issue is that I already have a diagnosis for ADHD. I know why I have the symptoms I do, but if I didn't know better, it would be easy to think I have autism. That is why self-diagnosis is dangerous
@@elfboy676 That's why I say, as long as it remains within the realm of "I think I might have it". After that speculative point where people start acting upon their self diagnosis is where it gets dangerous. I also disagree with Noah only sometimes clarifying that their Autism isn't diagnosed, that is something you should always clarify in all circumstances.
@@Milkmur yeah I agree, I feel like unless if you have a diagnosis you shouldn't say you have anything. Even something as simple as saying you have the flu when you just have a cold undermines health outcomes and understanding of the illness. There are so many cross over symptoms it's so hard to really work out what is happening, heaps of the ADHD tiktoks I totally empathise with, but I don't really think I have it. I guess if just rather push people to see their health providers more and mentions these things to them. (I have worked in Pharmacy for a long time)
As someone who was recently diagnosed (using an online service that doesn't advertise on TikTok, that sends your info to a local psychiatrist). I did realize that the thing that I felt unusual and mentally broken for the first 30+ years of my life was ADHD, thanks (in part) to creators on TikTok normalizing getting evaluated, and providing a better description of what ADHD can look like outside of the pop-culture image. That said, I get those ads from Cerebral and Done on TikTok all the time now, and they seem incredibly scummy. Also, while I'm not currently pursuing meds for my ADHD, the states that (unlike mine, which requires stimulant meds to be prescribed in-person only) allow stimulant meds to be prescribed via telemedicine should probably hold some culpability (even though if I was pursuing meds, I might feel differently, and like the in-person requirement was yet another hurdle that makes me have to fight my ADHD to get help with my ADHD). All that said though, considering that ADHD is very likely underdiagnosed (both in women, and in the inattentive type). I'm also generally pro-encouraging people to get evaluated, even if social media has led them to think they have is ADHD, when they have another condition that can present similarly. As long as you are getting evaluated by someone that isn't just trying to pigeon hole you into ADHD, you might get help with a different condition you miss-self-diagnosed, if you pursue an ADHD diagnosis and you end up actually being on the autism spectrum, or having general anxiety, or depression.
I was diagnosed with ADHD 15 years ago. The self-diagnosis and misdiagnosis issue isn't new. It's been around for a while now, but platforms like TikTok only amplify the issue to an even broader audience. ADHD medication is a controlled drug for a reason. If taken improperly it can have very serious and dangerous side effects. Do not take it, even in small amounts.
Adam conover had a really good podcast episode on this topic citing his experience being diagnosed and taking medication and how that helped and didn’t helped. At the core is a self doubt of the disorder and I’m not in favor of bringing doubt to those also diagnosed. Many people need medication to treat ADHD
I was diagnosed with ADHD when i was a kid (im 29 now) and my entire life ive never really seen anyone take it seriusly, in recent years i have seen so many people talking about it and supporting people with ADHD and i think that is awesome! however, it sometimes feels like people just think its cool to have a mental disorder and ADHD is one of the easiest ones to self diagnose. I do hope that this doesnt end up leading to people dismissing it even more than they have in the past, but i guess time will tell. By "Easiest" i mean that it's easy to look at the sympsoms of ADHD and just say "yeah i have that"
I feel like ADHD has gotten a bad rap for misdiagnosing children, but it affects many people in many different ways. I have never heard of someone thinking having a mental disorder is cool, but some people are freaky, and some do want the attention. Btw, I have been binging the shit out of your content lately, and am looking forward to the next vid. Stay awsome and have a good rest of your day.
Me too- it’s been the biggest struggle in my life and I stopped using tiktok literally seeing all these people claim a debilitating obstacle I have to work hour by hour on. My other mh and health issues were only complicated by it- it’s a devastating imbalance to work on and it’s a full time job running my brain lmao I’m sooo not here for it being confused with general lack of discipline Bc the adhd’ers I’ve met (clinically dx’d) are always the most driven and disciplined people. Literally getting secondary diagnoses of CLINICAL depression/anxiety from trying to MANAGE. Ugh wishing you luck!
It's all fun and games until society's only solution to my ADHD is microdosing on amphetamines, then it really opens the eyes on what having ADHD in a society not fit for us really is like and it stops becoming a quirky personality trait. We must be two lucky ones living in countries where it is taken seriously though, my parents still refuse to believe it after diagnosis, prescription and therapy.
@@angel06xpr25 Yeah, I started to notice it when some of my old highschool friends that are on tiktok started to claim they have ADHD, but i rememebr them being the same type of people that thought it was just something that could be "willed away" haha. thank you! i hope you have a good day also!
I'm diagnosed with ADHD. The only reason I got tested for ADHD (and yes, professionally tested) was because of people on social media sharing their experiences with it, as well as online tests. Without this, I would have never even considered ADHD, let alone had the confidence to reach out for a diagnosis (and I'm in the UK, so the diagnosis was free. I hate to think what that would have been like in America). This is why I have a problem with people talking about how self diagnosing is harmful as people trick themselves into thinking they have it somehow. Self diagnosis is the first step to reaching out for help and getting a true diagnosis. Telling people that they may just be manifesting symptoms or whatever doesn't encourage them to seek professional help, quite the opposite. It means that those who have the disorder will think they are making it up and suffer in silence, and it means that people will distrust psychiatrists for not taking them seriously and falsely dismissing their concerns. I have heard about people, and have seen friends experience, being told they do not have autism because they are "too social" despite the fact they have had many of the symptoms and have had them since birth. Even if they don't have autism, these symptoms still point to some issue, but often they are just told they don't have autism and that's it. So people, including professionals, claiming that social media is causing people to incorrectly self diagnose with disorders, such as ADHD, is leading to many people not being diagnosed, and therefore not getting support, for problems they truly have. Yes people should seek a professional diagnoses, but they will not do this if you keep telling them they are just making it up. Now to be clear, these adverts are abysmal and should not be allowed. Scaring ADHD people into thinking they are more likely to overeat, advertising to people that they should use your service to get ADHD support because they are distractable, and stuff like that is terrible. However, there is this larger idea that people sharing their experiences with ADHD, autism, etc. is leading people to incorrectly diagnose, when often it takes them many videos and a lot of research to come to that self-diagnoses. It's not as simple as people seeing 1 video and then deciding they have it (most of the time). So if professionals do want people to stop falsely diagnosing themselves and taking medication when they shouldn't, they should take them seriously. People should be able to go to psychiatrist and say that they think they might have ADHD, autistm, etc. If they do that, they should first be directed to someone that knows what they are talking about, not someone that thinks having social anxiety means you have too much social awareness to be autistic (true story). That person should then go through the diagnosis process, and if they don't have it, the psychiatrist should explain why and help them find another option that explains their issues. But right now, this self diagnosis stigma is causing considerable harm to neurodivergent people everywhere. (Also side note, just because someone is a professional psychiatrist doesn't mean they know anything about these disorders. As I alluded to, there are many times where someone has went to a "professional", who may be trained in mental health disorders, but are not at all trained in learning difficulties and and other disorders (read ADHD, autism, dyslexia, etc.). This often means they use stereotypes to dismiss peoples concerns, which causes so much harm. It is unfortunately very common for neurotypical people (doctors, parents, etc.) to think and claim they know the best way to help neurodivergent people when they don't have a clue. That, in my opinion, is why so many autism charities don't help autistic people: because they are focused on helping the parents and making autistic children "normal" (such as Autism Speaks).)
How on earth did you get a free Diagnosis with the NHS. They told me there was an 18 month wait for adult adhd diagnosis at the time so I had to go private. Did you have to wait that long?
@@Benskingsley96 Oh yeah, I got extremely lucky. @@callumwright7459 Yes, I totally agree! The adds deserved to be taken down, and self medication without a professional is extremely dangerous. I just wanted to make this comment as a comment on the wider issue of social media leading to self diagnosis, rather than on the adds themself, but it seems we completely agree on the idea here (if I'm reading your comment correctly)
It's important to note that self-medication can happen WITHOUT self diagnosis too! Without self diagnosis, an individual can't make the connection between taking x improves their y. Self diagnosis also allows for individuals to try specific strategies too. The nonphysical hyperactive symptoms of ADHD weren't as commonly known when I was diagnosed 10 years ago. If I had known about hyperfocus or executive dysfunction, I could have gotten treatment before graduating college and having a breakdown. Considering the financial limitations and accessibility of mental health care in the US, self diagnosis can be some people's only option.
As someone diagnosed with ADHD, I’ve seen so many ads recently targeting people with ADHD and it’s so frustrating because it makes it seem like “oh just use this app five mins a day and you’ll be all better”. First of all, I don’t need to be “all better”. Second, if my 12 years of classroom accommodations and therapy and medications wasn’t enough to fix me, your app certainly won’t f*cking do it.
I don't have any comments today, I just want to thank Phil for making a point of including those domestic violence survivor resources. You're a good guy.
I had no idea they were called intrusive thoughts. Every time I stand behind a cop I always have the thought in my head that I want to grab their gun. I’ve never been in trouble with the law and I’ve never even held a gun but that thought always happens. Like how fast could I move to grab it lol. I’m not dumb enough to do it but the thought happens.
I have had the exact same thought-- you are not alone! I've thought the same thing as Phil mentioned too-- soo weird, and not that I would do either, or a few of the other 'intrusive' thoughts I've had-- not often, but they do happen. As to the gun-- i spoke one time to one of my local police officers, and told him I wondered why more people wouldn't grab their guns from them. He showed me just how secure a cop's gun is in their holster-- there are like at least 2 things they have to do to get the gun out-- it's not just resting in there. When he showed me that, it caused me to not even have that 'grabbing the gun' thought any longer, lol. I do have a feeling more people have these thoughts but don't want to admit it cuz, I mean, they sound crazy, right? Well, I guess my husband would argue that I'm already crazy, sooo....😁😂

I gotta say having ADHD my whole life TikTok will constantly try to push things on me that are complete BS about ADHD. I imagine there’s a lot of mental misinformation heavily being pushed on kids on that app.
On the tik tok ADHD scandal, the ads are absolutely predatory. However, the prominence of people talking about their experience with ADHD encouraged my girlfriend to get tested for it. It was one of the intensive tests, several appointments with a professional.
I agree. I never even thought about it but when I realized I related to all the people with adhd and autism wayyyh too closely it helped me start to identify a lot of habits I have and I’m hoping to get an official diagnosis soon. But what ppl don’t realize is self diagnose is super real and often times the only time you can get treated. You have to go to doctor with your list of systems and what you think it is before they even test for it half the time
@@MilwaukeeWoman How long ago was this? You have another comment saying you were misdiagnosed. If that's the case, I'm sorry that happened to you. That doesn't mean all of us who actually have ADHD are going to be destroyed by meds. There is an enormous difference between being properly medicated and taking a med that is incorrect for you. Someone who doesn't need allergy meds would eventually get fucked up by them too, it's not the medication that is the problem. Maybe direct the anger towards the "professional" who misdiagnosed you and failed to do their job correctly instead of potentially scaring people away from medication that can be life saving for some because it was given to you when you didn't need it.
@@MilwaukeeWoman I've taken quite a few different types of ADHD medication, at different doses and have never had a problem going off my meds. I forgot to take them all the time and when I did forget, I would wait until the next day to take them. I'm not currently on them at the moment, because they conflict with my GERD and caused my acid reflux to worsen, And I had zero problems dropping my ADHD meds. If I'm reading your post right, it sounds like you are saying you became "dependent" on your ADHD meds after one appointment (Your post is poorly worded, so it's hard for me to read). If this is the case, it sounds more likely that you have an addiction problem, I'd suggest you tell your doctor about this so they can help you.
As a lifelong Futurama fan, I've witnessed all the highs and lows of the series. My opinion is the series cannot continue without DiMaggio, and I will have no interest in watching any version of this show that doesn't include the original cast. Do it right or let it stay dead.
What's your opinion on futurama's jokes in nowadays context? Some of the stuff is super sexist, I can't see the show continue with the same level of edginess - it's been almost ten years already

I cannot stress on how absolutely bizarre it is that seeing my small hometown, which is a village, is making national news. Possibly international news. The articles are wild, and miss a lot of marks jumping to conclusions. Now, where this development is going is literally around the area I grew up. The plan that was presented was honestly crap. Most of the housing in Yellow Springs is not easily affordable. I would love to be able to move back to a place that I call home. A place where I was born and raised. A place that has priced out individuals with the cost of housing and taxes. With this blowing up, I can only hope for the best.
I'm ADHD, got diagnosed at 24. Super eye opening. Changed my life for the better. That being said I think self diagnosis is important because lots of people can't afford private testing. This company however should not be the ones trying to enlighten people because their goal is to make a profit so it taints the information and shapes it into a spike.
as a person who was diagnosed with ADHD later in my life, i really think that access to PROPER clinical testing should be expanded so that those who suspect that they may have ADHD can quickly get tested. ADHD medicine is not an easy fix, and the predatory tiktok ads and oversimplified simplified tiktoks do not help the stigma that ADHD is a quirky thing that only affects attention span. it affects every single aspect of my life, and i constantly have to advocate for myself in medical and educational settings to get the help i need. dear lord, tiktok truly is the new tumblr. ADHD is not “quirky” and oversimplification will lead to misinformation and stigma for those who have it.
It needs better diagnosis, I was diagnosed with it and medicated for twenty years with amphetamines and I am harmed my them. I used to be able to function, if not great. Now I have to take a pill to not feel in a full fog.

While I don’t think it’s good for people to claim to have a mental health “disorder” when they haven’t been evaluated, I do think this phenomenon is happening because screening for diagnosis like ADHD are incredibly expensive, even if they are covered by insurance. They frankly aren’t accessible to the majority of Americans. That also goes for any kind of mental health care. So for some people this is the first time they’ve been told certain behaviors aren’t the “norm”, or the first time they’re feeling like they’re not alone. Mental health care should be accessible. And I don’t mean like BetterHelp or Cerebral. I mean being able to go to a local therapist, or getting a mental health eval. Sadly in the US mental health care (and frankly just health care in general) is a luxury.
As someone who’s always had ADHD it almost feels like you can’t handle a lot of things happening at once but you almost crave it in a way, it’s really common for me to play a game while listening to RUclips because when I’m not stimulated my brain just never shuts off. I have adhd as well and do the same exact thing when gaming. I feel like most people would write it off as me being a part of a tech-addicted generation, but I really need that additional stimulation. Idk why but it just works, you know. It’s like I’m diverting part of my processing power because otherwise I’d be devoting too much energy to just one task. Like you said, it’s hard to explain. It’s one of those things you can only understand if you’ve experienced it

Any housing plan that goes from 64 SFH, 52 duplexes, and 24 townhomes to 143 SFH is absolutely awful. America (and canada) truly suffer from the missing middle in housing. This doesnt sound anything close to a condo development. Single family homes are just one of many things to build. There are whole channels here dedicated to better infrastructure, and SFH sprawl is awful
Intrusive thoughts are insane sometimes. Probably my least favorite was when I was holding my newborn and my brain was like "What if you threw her though?" So I handed her back to my wife. I wouldn't ever do that, I didn't even consider it, and I'm not worried I would ever do something like that. But sometimes I just have remove the possibility for the thought to go away.
I can relate. I had the same thought of throwing an infant against a wall. I would cringe so hard after but I would have it again and again. And like you, I would never actually do it. But I realized I also have those intrusive about myself. I’ll suddenly imagine throwing myself over a fifth story apartment. Or paper cutting between each of my toes which is one of the worst things I can imagine. Since I have no real desire to do it, I realized I also have no real desire to hurt a baby.
@@BbGun-lw5vi Yeah, I like to avoid heights because the "you should jump" intrusive thought trigger comes up a lot. Never have, never will, but I just try to avoid to the situation in the first place.
People have absolutely no idea how hard it is to be taken seriously when it's a woman assaulting a man. I don't even have options for safe shelters. Every single time she leaves a mark, she'll self-harm or throw herself into a wall or furniture and tells me that if i tell anyone that she'll show them the marks she inflicted on to herself. I'm ready to give up. She made all of my friends hate me and now I have no one. She would tell all of my friends and family lies. A day came where I suddenly realized that I only had her left in my life. At first I believed that to be a blessing. I didn't realize that she was intentionally trying to get me alone so no one else would help me and I had to rely on her. And now I am entirely stuck and I have no options.
You always have options even if you don’t see a clear path. Give up on her but never give up on yourself. Document & get whatever evidence you can. It’s quite silly that our laws and society doesn’t treat domestic violence against men with the same dedication it is with women (dedication may be the wrong word I’m thinking of) I know it’s hard- definitely in the moment of things, but this random person on the internet here, believes you’ll make it out.

DiMaggio is a brilliant actor. If you haven't seen his performance as Joker in Under the Red Hood you really should.

I think they need to stop treating voice actors like they're not actors. Everyone deserves to be paid appropriately for their work and talent.
They are replaceable. How many Bugs Bunny have there been?
What a bad example to cite all the people who failed to fill Mel Blanc's rabbit's feet.
And some celebrities are terrible voice actors. It’s a different skill just like stage acting is different from a closeup. Too often studios choose name recognition over talented but less known voice actors

@Tala Elise if you aren't attracted to women that's fine bro
Yes to this! I would say many women who saw this add just looked for boobs that looked like theirs. I bet it's nice to see yourself represented and know there is a bra for you. Mostly men seem to be upset by this because they are thinking it's sexual 🙄
@Tala Elise dont be mad at biology dude - just jealous. (Also, what do you think dairy milk is?? )
@Tala Elise normal breast functions are weird?? 🤣
@Tala Elise If you drink milk you’re drinking tiddy milk from a cow.

@@duskshadow25 Is this an ad?
Also kids can just be hyper... Like I knew kids who were thought to have ADHD then baseball season starts in spring and the guy is a model student.. ADHD is more in depth than a 30 second add can cover.. It's dangerous to over simplify medical information
@@Home_Run_Kid72 I agree. ADHD is the current trend on TikTok to self diagnose with. Next month it might be something else. Actual question:
Is 300k starting price really considered “affordable housing?”
compared to the prices I've been seeing, yes, that's actually 'affordable'
@@slashingkittens I’m just going to have to get comfortable with the fact that home ownership is just never going to happen for me.
@@neurotika I've still got my fingers crossed for a market crash 😅

Completely agree. I needed to hear this. Thank you Phil!

I was wondering about that, I'm in Wisconsin and I've also lived in OK and neither of those lists 300k as affordable so I was thinking that surely Ohio can't be that different right??
That's not affordable _anywhere._ While it might be comparably cheap in say NYC or SF, it's unattainable to most.

I have been diagnosed with ADHD (twice actually)
A lot of the symptoms seem "normal" to neurotypical people, the difference is in the severity, so it's really easy to project your problems onto ADHD
Like 'tasks are hard to complete'
It often takes more energy to get myself started on a task than the actual task takes.
@@supersonic7605 I am currently struggling with that, actually. It does not help that my primary care is constantly telling me to lose weight.
"Do you ever have thoughts like that?"
All the time, thanks OCD :') Appreciated the chuckle there, fun to have the reminder I'm not *completely* crazy.
Yes! This!! 🙌
Yes! I have found much more solidarity and knowledge about my condition with these creators than anything negative. The problem is such a lack of general knowledge leaves room for predatory companies, which is exactly why these creators are important to increase general knowledge about ADHD.
This!
@@DMCpawn Yeah but those are mainly kids who will always do that anyways. And not as many as you think, at that.
Most of the ones I watch, also make it very clear, that self diagnosis can be a bad thing.
I think its perfectly reasonable and fully warranted to ask the question "Is this about women's empowerment or is it about getting a product stuck in mens' heads because boobies?"
Personally, I think the nature of the product makes it very unlikely that the advertising is male-oriented, because its typically not mens' money being spent on Sports Bras, and on the occasions that it is you'd still be better served pitching the product to the person who'd be using it.
Dude, those internal thoughts of never being enough for everyone are intense, but your actions do speak louder than anything, I needed that reminder.
"you are your actions, not any of the thoughts up here". Phil, I really needed that today. Thank you. ❤️

@@silco5343 and why is that?
Exactly. Well said.💜
Beautifully captured!
I'd take it further and say that nudity shouldn't being illegal at all. It doesn't hurt anybody.
I feel like a lot of people don't realize that, so assume all self diagnosis as uneducated and harmful.
i always have high scores for those quizzes. but assessments are incredibly hard to come by. plus dx mills 😣

I honestly dont think I have ADHD but I can relate to forgetting things the moment I turn around 😆 hell even in video games I have to write stuff down cuz I'll go from the crafting bench to the resources in another box and forget all the resources I needed mere seconds later haha

@@The_Evening_Sun I'm either too early or too late.

They should’ve been pumping out quality content right alongside Southpark all these years.
futurama required more gray matter to enjoy compared to the other shpws running on prime time st the same time.
Simultaneously too dumb and too smart for the general audience.
This is a privileged take and you should consider that life doesn't work the same for you as it does others.
I relate to this so much! Medication and therapy for ADHD solve ALL my other problems.
Depression ain’t ain’t real

"Oddy-doss" - congratulations, your pronunciation of Adidas has earned you engagement 😂

I do hope that this doesnt end up leading to people dismissing it even more than they have in the past, but i guess time will tell.
By "Easiest" i mean that it's easy to look at the sympsoms of ADHD and just say "yeah i have that"

Thank you!!

@@callumwright7459 Yes, I totally agree! The adds deserved to be taken down, and self medication without a professional is extremely dangerous.

I have Fibro , Arthritis in almost every joint (thanks Nan/Mum for the Osteoporosis) and a blown disc in my back from a Car accident in 1999 , we married in 2000 .... so she knew what she was getting. But even before i stopped working full time in about 2014 (i have money invested) and before we had kids she treated me like shit ....... Before Marriage - Great ...... day after - trouble .... like a fucking light switch ....... she just wanted good looking children I think , because since we had them , she either shits on me 24/7 or just ignores me ........ And with Fibro stress makes it 100% worse! Im literally fucked , the only family i have is her's, im literally trapped. I used to think as a Kid "why did they stay?" ...... i know now .... i know! The one that controls the money , controls everything ......
If your a guy and on your Honey moon (i paid for it) and she wants literally nothing to do with you 99% of that time and just wants to sleep ...... get an annulment as soon as you get home , The Honey Moon is literally the best it will ever be ........ family members Joked about us breaking the hotels bed , when we got home .... lol ..... it was used for sleeping only. smh
I have literally everything thing i could want , i saved hard and bought our house, Invested money (that she then spent on renovations) but fine .... have 2 awesome kids top of thier class , My dream car a super rare Mitsubishi Tommie Mak Evo ....... i literally have everything i wanted , except a wife that likes me..... Yeah id take just 'likes' me , not even 'loves' me , just likes me ... or pretends to ..... instead i get this mental torture ,to go with my physical torture (Fibro and Arthrits means my whole body is in 7 - 8 /10 pain 24/7) .... I have Everything ..... and i have nothing .......
God bless you ❤️ hope your doing well ❤️
Proud of you Leonard!
have an amazing weekend 🥳 … definitely got the ‘bEtTeR hElP’ ad at the beginning of the video 😂
Thank you for the grande sized episode Philly 🙏🏼 We’ve been blessed 🙏🏼
That is not normal
@@brandonandtom941 Yeah no shit, I have ADHD. Intrusive thoughts are fairly common for neurodivergent people.
@@BbGun-lw5vi Yeah, I like to avoid heights because the "you should jump" intrusive thought trigger comes up a lot. Never have, never will, but I just try to avoid to the situation in the first place.
@@brandonandtom941 It’s quite common and normal. It’s called Call of the Void. Throwing a baby is one of the most common intrusive thoughts.
thank you philip for flashing up
People have absolutely no idea how hard it is to be taken seriously when it's a woman assaulting a man.
Hope you find the stranght to just leave!
Just get her on video doing it - I mean COME ON.
You always have options even if you don’t see a clear path. Give up on her but never give up on yourself. Document & get whatever evidence you can. It’s quite silly that our laws and society doesn’t treat domestic violence against men with the same dedication it is with women (dedication may be the wrong word I’m thinking of)
I know it’s hard- definitely in the moment of things, but this random person on the internet here, believes you’ll make it out. Trust yourself, you’re worth a lot more than you think.
@@fl00d69 And then what? You think the police will give a shit? You think she won't freak out and hurt herself too? I mean come on.
@@fl00d69 It is not that easy when you are living with an abusive partner.
