    I still don't know why staring at a disc working is so mesmerizing but it is.👍🏻

    That was rolling nicely. Just the right moisture.

    Lol, try that in the West Virginia mountains. What just took you five minutes takes me weeks to do by hand and a small drag behind an atv.

    I do like the disk. makes me want to buy one. I have same sized tractor but always had a hand-me-down, non-transport disk. it works but, terrible noisy going down my limestone driveway if I am taking it to another field and I one feature I never thought of on yours you just showed is ability to back up with the disk. thanks for sharing.

    Idk it it bothers you or not but my grandpa always had a piece of an old grader cutting edge or railroad iron or something sorta heavy chained to the disc to help bust the clods and help smooth the dirt a little.

    Well dang, I guess I’m going to look into getting one of these..I’ve been looking for a while but it’s crazy how expensive it is for an 8’er..it’s a really nice disc! I need to find out who made it before JD put that frontier green paint on it, probably a lot cheaper haha

    Have you had to replace the rubber boots on your shift levers? If so how do you get the knobs off. Any help would be great.

    I live in a farming community and I always wonder why the farmer will, when he's bush hogging or whatever, will either take his loader off or just the bucket, forks or whatever, and go do whatever it is that hes going to do. I see all this and I just scratch my head thinking what if you run across a log or rock or something? Whatcha going to do? Not saying it's wrong just interesting.

    • @matthewburks4508
      @matthewburks4508 5 лет назад +3

      Andrew Crosby. Alot of folks will take it off or at least he bucket to reduce the shock load on the lift cylinders as the tractor is bouncing around with no load on the loader arm cylinders. Ive got a 3010 JD with a loader an have had to rebuild the lift cylinders due to them bouncing around on rough ground

    • @andrewcrosby8746
      @andrewcrosby8746 5 лет назад

      @@matthewburks4508 that's very interesting. Tractor loader hydraulics must not have a cushioning system in them like a front end loader does.

    • @matthewburks4508
      @matthewburks4508 5 лет назад +1

      @andrew crosby. Correct most of the smaller tractors don't have a cushion or accumulator like the wheel loaders do for lift cylinders to absorb shock

    Whats factors or circumstances would be there for one to plow before discing?

    • @williamjordan5414
      @williamjordan5414 5 лет назад +3

      I always plow in the fall after gardening is finished and let the ground lay over the winter. It will freeze and thaw and break down really well by gardening time. Can't hardly do that for food plots but for land that won't have any crops on it through the winter, great thing to do.

    • @AndrewJackson456
      @AndrewJackson456 4 года назад +1

      Alot of grass, and not enough disc unlike in this video.. smaller 5-6' discs will struggle.. so plow before then run over with a disc or harrow..

    Hey Tim
    What the year and model of your disc ?
    Works great

  • @BKD70
    @BKD70 5 лет назад

    Mr. Tim, does that disk have a cultivator sweep or something in the center to knock down the ridge that the front disk gang doesn't get? Or does it just get covered back up by the rear gang?
    I've got hours and hours and hours of disking fields with a disk about triple that size (24')... brings back memories of my youth! Thanks Mr. Tim!
