So not the best video guys but I’m sure some of you will learn something from it or help someone. Just to add the CLS declined extra jobs and drove it to inverness 🏴 after collecting 👀 Also make sure you check out jj on cars! All the best everyone 🙏
Best one we had was a customer who came in after his clutch slave cylinder failed. We'd changed the engine on the vehicle just over 3 years ago previously. Said it was something we'd done and wanted it replaced for free. My boss told him where to go, guy threatened us with lawyers and court etc. Never heard from him again!
@@reflexcoil9808 The cost of the parts are usually dictated by Mercedes, however if you watch other videos Sam has produced, you will see he actually saves his customers money, either by knowing pretty much what the common issues are, in the Case of SL's he makes a suspension bush that costs £125 instead of a new strut form Mercedes at £1500, or points out the jobs that need doing therfore saving the expense of a breakdown or future hours of labour by doing the job whilst he is in there. That is what specialists do, I have a specialist Mercedes Van mechanic near me I use and long term the guy has saved me a small fortune.
Appreciate any video you put out Sam. They are all very informative. Keep up the good work. Can't believe the CLS owner, obviously doesn't value life too much or any one else's on the road.
Glad you didn't scrap the footage, it was interesting and enjoyable. The "since you did my service" brought back some memories, must of had them on an almost weekly basis (VW/Audi dealer). Thanks for taking the time to make this content. 👍
I learn a lot from watching your channel, which helps me keep my Benzes on the road. I also appreciate that there aren’t any Gordon Ramsay-type meltdowns-at least not on camera-when dealing with stubborn service issues.
Judging by some of the problems you deal with, I get the impression that many Merc drivers do tend to neglect their cars, when you have low oil levels and broken springs and faults that the customer should be aware of, or is it simply the cost of owning a Merc that many drivers don't budget for, they just want the prestigious mark.
Any customer that questions you in the work you say needs doing on their merc, need their head testing. Great guy, great garage, great service and great vids
I'm glad you did put this together Sam. Always good viewing. Also, who wouldn't want to work in a bat cave??, and who knew Reece has such a good sense of homour. Kudos Reece.
Great content Sam, understand the time pressures you are under in a “live” garage situation. It is amazing how when it comes to car servicing, it seems to bring out the worst traits in some people! I salute you for your patience and tenacity in dealing with such people. It also nice to see that others appreciate your work and send you gifts in appreciation of your efforts. Keep up the good work on the channel 👍😎
Yep I have had all this over the years You touch a car anything happens it’s always our fault Very strange . You are a top man Keep up the good work 👍👍👍👍👍
I don't own a Merc but love your channel. Real insight into the issues in diagnosing problems on modern cars. Also the difficulty of getting parts for some fixes. Cheers for the content.
Thank you. Never apologise if 'real' work gets in the way. In contrast to many car content channels you personally are not only the boss but a hands on mechanic. Your primary income source is your workshop not RUclips. Regarding this content , as always there is always something to learn. If your entertainment center freezes consider a software update. Handbrake light issues could be ABS sensor and of course if you have to change an ABS sensor do 'em all. All tips that we've learned from your personal experiences.
Thank you very much for your videos! I run a dealership in Warwickshire and being a Mercedes enthusiast I am always buying these cars for stock, and regularly get stuck with faults, recently an EIS Unit on an SL350. I have a W208 CLK that lives in the South Of France that is frequently needing attention!😅 Fantastic videos really appreciate it, quite an education even for those in the trade.
We need more videos on those beautiful M273 engines and on C 216/W 221 models. Very hard to find professionals willing to put their hands on them, at least in my area where those cars and engines are very rare. Thank you for your great informative videos
ABS sensors seem to be a common failure for all the models not just the SL and CL. My SLK has just had all four replaced recently and I had them replaced in 2017. I use a local specialist (shame I'm not near you) and they said the diagnostic has only come up with one sensor fault. I said replace all four anyway, save me having to come back within the month. They then had to order them in and I had to come back in a week. By that time they found that two sensors were faulty. This is why I don't bother waiting for the rest to go, I just get all four done together.
Apprecite that it is not esay making a video in a working envirinment, however your content is amazing. Please keep these videos going, skill and knowledge is amazing
My friend had a workshop (he and I both now retired) . A gent came in for a clutch on a morris minor. Back in two weeks said it’s gone again. My friend suggested how the customer was driving. It turned out he was resting his foot on the clutch pedal so it was slipping. Yes the joys of fixing cars.
Previous owner had the SBC pump reconditioned on my 211. Pump totally failed on me coming off a slip road on the A1. Terrifying. Agree with replacing them 100%
So many electrical failures these days, I used to run a garage on the south coast with my father, so really enjoying your post, and very informative, I have a 2013 C class AMG coupe 2.5 diesel, I do a any preventative maintenance, hopefully avoiding any major issues, shocked at people when they leave serious faults, but not surprising as had it all the time !!!! Please keep post coming, thanks.
Great videos. I watch them every week, on the big screen/TV which says it all really !! ..Looking forward to the next one already! Not sure if you work on many X166 GL's but this would be something I'd like to see , or even the ML (same gig, really) as I'm considering buying one in the future 👍🏻
Another epic video. I enjoy your ramblings. Every video gives me info on all aspects of servicing. My slk 280 would come to you if I lived closer so I do all my own servicing - with mb parts sourced from my main dealer. I don’t trust them to change my washer fluid. Your ethic for looking after the customer is now very rare. Keep it up as it is an example to other garages to follow.
Loving these videos, nice to see that you take time to understand and fix the niggly and multiple faults which could well see people think their car is only fit for the scrapyard. As someone who runs car which is 20 plus years old, I’m always glad when my garage point out issues which could cause problems soon, like rusty brake pipes or frayed belts, or indeed corroded ABS rings. Why you just wouldn’t get them done is beyond me.
Always very interesting material and very well presented and informative. Thank you for sharing, Sam. Much appreciated. I have an E320 CDi Sport that I would bring to you for checking if you were accepting new business.
Another great video, Sam. You guys have been very busy, I agree it must be very frustrating when you get a customer trying it on to get something done for free after a service or something else being done. You guys are very thorough in what you do, so it must be a bit frustrating car's leaving the garage with serious issues because the customer will not pay for the upkeep on their mercedes. Really enjoyed the video. Please keep them coming. 😊
On the slow download time for software management, I understand you can remove the module and install it when connected directly to the pc/laptop rather than feeding it through the cars system. This brings the download time down to 10-15 minutes. Removing the module may take 20 minutes in and out. I could be mistaken and this won’t work for some cars.
We used to call them sinceyous. The funniest was an elderly gentleman came in with his Mercedes Estate and complained that since we had had his car in the workshop the rear footwell was filling up with water. It was completely filled and we discovered the rubber tube from the metal sunroof had perished and the water was going in not out. But it was our fault apparently
I love your honesty, it is not just you getting picked on. I have supplied customers with printer cartridges and been blamed for a computer on another network not working. Even after being told that the printer we supplied cartridges for is printing fine. I wish you well, keep on going.
Brilliant video, its good to see how busy you are, hard work you all plough through. Can't believe how some customers take risks driving their cars when you have highlighted defects. Unbelievable. I'm sure your used to it. Notice your smart hair cut, you look even more handsome!! 😊 Hope you enjoy the weekend off to rest and enjoy our recent hot weather. Its so touching seeing how kind some customers are with gifts to show their appreciation. It demonstrates how good you and your team are. Keep the videos coming when time allows. 👌
I take my car at Listers in Hull and I have never complained about the price or other things that needs doing. I just let them get on with it and pay up. My last bill was 1700
Love your channel. I hope these MBs allow you to live a comfortable life. Many of these cars have relatively low mileage and are requiring thousands in repairs. Crap cars that look nice. I've owned two and got rid of as the warranty was running out. By the way, you're voice sounds just like Ringo Starr. That's a cool thing.
Amazing the issues you come across. Not surprised about your comments about issues arising post service. Thanks for the videos. Always enjoy your honesty in how you deal with things.👍👍
I do like your channel, I was thinking of replacing my A124 because I had a GBP 1,000 bill this year, but now, seeing the repair costs of newer models I think I will just keep it.
I've been there with both the ABS sensor ring and intercooler hose on my own W204. According to my local dealer, the split intercooler hoses are a common problem so they keep them in stock and the price was quite reasonable too. There looks to be about £1K just for the suspension parts on the SL600
This is becoming one of my favourite channels. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I am now off to the garage to try and figure out why I have a rear right speed sensor fault on my 288k miles MB Viano. It is turning so many lights on the dash including transmission faults. I am after doing a full suspension restoration. All Febi parts by the way. Wish me luck
All your videos are interesting and informative. You give invaluable insight into what the ownership of various Merc models looks like from a maintenance standpoint. Perfect..Thank you.

Great content as ever . Would it be better to say never had that car in here before so we need to do a health check which will cost you £----- yes you brought car in for ABS fault but that is our policy . Lump it or leave. 3
It’s a great video - I’m definitely glad you decided to put it out there 😀. Some interesting things to see. Not sure how anyone can let their oil level get that low - I must admit I check mine regularly ‘just in case’, like tyre pressures. Always carry a spare 1 Litre oil bottle in the car too 😂. Call me obsessional - yes I am…
These are just normal problems with old cars I’ve just had 4 new springs and brake pipes front to back fitted on my 2006 BMW E60 2.5 I still a great car
So not the best video guys but I’m sure some of you will learn something from it or help someone.
Just to add the CLS declined extra jobs and drove it to inverness 🏴 after collecting 👀
