Great first reaction ... but this song isn't so sad, it starts off being sad with everything dark and seemingly hopeless, but they are trying to imagine colours in the dark night sky and then painting the sky with rainbow colours, so even the darkest times (Ragnarok is Norse mythology surrounding the end of the world) will come to and end - "No matter how long the night, the morning will arrive".
And finally there is hope and light at the end of the darkness as they will illuminate the whole world in the colours of the rainbow.🌈 So "Just smile". 🙂
BABYMETAL formed in 2010, there were 3 original members - Su-metal is lead vocalist, Yuimetal and Moametal were in charge of "scream and dance" (not scream as in the metal sense, they do backing vocals, harmonies and lead the crowd interaction in their live shows)
Yui last performed in October 2017, she missed the next 12 months because of poor health and in October 2018 she announced she was still not fully recovered and had decided to leave the band.
Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo through to (and a bit beyond) their 10th anniversary, so from 2019 they were supported by one of three dancers (the Avengers Riho, Kano and Momoko) who would take turns dancing in the third spot.
Riho is now a solo artist, Kano has her own JPop group, so Momoko was the only Avenger after about March 2020.
Su-metal and Moametal recorded this video as a duo shortly before 1st April this year (2023) when, after 4 -5 years as a duo, BABYMETAL became a trio again when Momoko was revealed as the new official third member Momometal.
BABYMETAL songs are mostly hopeful and uplifting with a positive message. You want a happy song? How about a cheerful song about summer festivals - their most recent song is called 'Metali' and it features Tom Morello (lead guitarist with bands like Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave).

Welcome to BABYMETAL, and great reaction. BABYMETAL is Japan's most internationally active group and this year they performed in 25 countries. SU-METAL is an incredible singer. Did you notice that this high performance microphone barely picks up her breath at all? Her breath control is unparalleled. Her straight, pure voice is addictive.
BABYMETAL can easily jump the boundaries of genres. It doesn't matter if you're not into metal.

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐
I'm glad to see new reactors getting into BM songs, you're arriving to a special era with more mature sound and a BM side we've never seen before. I'm gonna leave another suggestion in my next comment so you can check it out early BM era songs and clips safe to react. This is a one off stripped version, they got very few songs like this but in general you won't find sad songs, they're trying to give some hope with this type of lyrics, some fans even called them "happy metal", but I'm not gonna deny some songs got some melancholy and along with the piercing vocals of this unique singer it can tears apart anyone in no time.
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, the name is a pun intended play of words with "heavy metal" and is a reference to a birth of a new genre, they are:
*SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26, her birthday was a couple of days ago.
*MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24.
*MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st.
*YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018.
    None of them are related.
After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said.
Monochrome is the 2nd single released from this latest concept album called "The Other One" it was released on March 24.
    Here's some official info:
_From the eyes of the children, what color were the monochrome fireworks lighting up in the night sky? This song expresses the hopeful wish on Ragnarok, which signifies doomsday in Norse mythology, twinkling across the starry skies in rainbow colors._
Original version is more hard rock ballad style with overprocessed and audio effects, SuMetal vocals are similar to vocaloid style in some parts, but is enjoyable either way with the beautiful message.
It was played throughout this whole World Tour 2023 and one of the highlight is when SuMetal ask everyone to take phones out and shine this dark dark world.
You can enjoy the live proshot version at Makuhari Messe 2023 performed at the end of January, one of the highlights in the live concerts was this beautiful song, SuMetal made everyone raise their phones to illuminate this dark world.
The girls dressed in white are extra backing vocals for this song and probably related to the metalverse era or just an homage to early era when they were a trio when YuiMetal was still there, after she left in 2018 they become the only two front women until this year, you'll see the new member in the next one off version called The One - Unfinished Version in that same channel.
They already have softer version and piano version of certain songs before like "Akatsuki Unfinished Version" and The One - Stairway To Living Legend (that's the full version of the Unfinished but the original version is totally different), i suggest you those after hearing the original version.
    Next suggestion:
    - _Karate_ live at Download Festival 2016.
I'm gonna try to leave more suggestions in my next comment if YT allows me to do it.
Hope to see you next time with more BM songs. 🦊🤘🌈

Here's the list of live performance clips usually safe to reacts without any filters so you won't need to rely on live compilations, there might be some exceptions:
      - Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! live at Legend 1997, SuMetal 16th Birthday in 2013, they got MV of this and is fun, but live is a blast.
      ruclips.net/video/LNFiDWJh2FA/видео.html
      - Akatsuki, live at Budokan 2014, this is a SuMetal solo.
      ruclips.net/video/g2372C5PJLM/видео.html
      - Megitsune, official MV is my first recommendation but is usually blocked if you don't put filters, so if you want live and safe to react, check it out Budokan 2014.
      ruclips.net/video/dU38CYkpBvI/видео.html
      - Akatsuki Unfinished Version, SuMetal solo again but with only a piano behind special performance at Legend 1997.
      ruclips.net/video/nwsinmxTxbo/видео.html
      - Babymetal Death, live at Legend 1997, this is the big finale, you're gonna blow your mind with this one.
      ruclips.net/video/jRc9dbgiBPI/видео.html
      - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014.
      ruclips.net/video/ng8U_j0gpLI/видео.html
      - Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014, sometimes the official live MV isn't so friendly so you know what to do.
      ruclips.net/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/видео.html
      - Rondo Of Nightmare, with Mischiefs Of Metal Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, another SuMetal solo but way different than usual happy songs.
      ruclips.net/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/видео.html
      - Doki Doki Morning, official MV, their very first song and MV full of kawaiiness, usually is safe to react so try it, if you want a live performance, this is the first proshot version with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 (YuiMetal and MoaMetal 14th birthday).
      ruclips.net/video/BSjv9OYtWZ0/видео.html
      - Uki Uki Midnight, this one is a follow up to Doki Doki Morning but way different sound, this is the PV, is super fun but the sound isn't so great but at least is live.
      ruclips.net/video/Yj-UQIlqsIQ/видео.html
If you want better sound with the Kami Band, then live at Budokan 2014 it is.
      ruclips.net/video/ESzY9dL613Q/видео.html
      - Onedari Daisakusen, live at Legend 1997, this is a Black Babymetal song, is a subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal.
      ruclips.net/video/1dT1ywYR5So/видео.html
      - Iine! again official MV hits way better but if you want live, here live at Budokan 2014.
      ruclips.net/video/5sCvYVNeD0w/видео.html
      - Karate live at Download Festival 2016, "kitsune6001" got this with a short interview intro.
      ruclips.net/video/FKOL6v3Md2c/видео.html
      - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official, this one is easily to find but be careful with the blocked by putting some filters just in case.
      - Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai - Answer For Animation With You, live at Budokan 2014, not sure if it's still safe, so try some filters, if is audio blocked try to mute or just cut the parts.
      ruclips.net/video/M8FKumvh-w8/видео.html
Here's a song you can find at Babymetal Reactor Resource (BMRR), a helpful place to get watermarked logo clips of the original live version to curve the annoying algo.
      - GJ! live at Wembley Arena 2016, another Black Babymetal song.
      ruclips.net/video/Hg0Rylcg8F0/видео.html
This is BMRR short vid to follow instructions and get the spreadsheet with the full list.
      ruclips.net/video/q40VmTHSh4c/видео.html
And here's a BM guide (the long one).
      ruclips.net/video/gDne0xwniTg/видео.html
There's a more recent beginners guide at "Briaghh" called "So... What is BabyMetal?" is more short and with some fair update until this year unlike the other one.

🦊🤘 MONOCHROME is a wonderful piece of art, one of my favorites from the album...
I mean I need to stop saying that because at this point every song this band does it's like my favorite, if someone asked me what is my favorite BABYMETAL song I would just say: “Yes.”

This particular version of Monochrome is a very atypical performance for Babymetal. As the name suggests, they are a metal band at heart, so their performances are usually much louder and more bombastic than this. A fun contrast would be to see the live performance at their concert "Babymetal Begins - The Other One: Black Night & Clear Night", so you can see what they are normally like performing in their element.
According to lead vocalist Su-metal, Monochrome isn't a sad song, it's meant to be hopeful. It's about enduring the hard times and coming through it to reach the good times on the other side.

Not neccessarily sad, more like bittersweet (A BabyMetal theme). There is a general thought that this song references the bombing of Hiroshma (Su-Metal's birthplace), although BabyMetal and Amuse (the production Co.) have never said so. Over 5 years in the making, itis a song that ends on a hopeful note (Another BabyMetal theme).
You need to look at Vedic Astrology and how your Moon works in your horoscope, as it is obviously your dominating planet. Knowing where the moon is and how it effects your feelings would be a super big help dealing w/ the ups and downs of life.

Nice first reaction! 🤘🦊🤘 Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance!!! BABYMETAL is a Japanese kawaii (cute) metal group (a metal subgenre that they created) that formed in 2010 when the 3 girls were 11-12 years old (yes, they were very young), and since then have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Glastonbury, Download, Sonisphere, etc), US, and Asia. They are the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley arena in the UK. Also, 20+ awards have been given to them. They have 60+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. Also, they released a new amazing album just a few months ago! They also just released a new music video for their song called "Metali" that features Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello.🤘🦊🤘

As I recall, Su (the lead singer) was surprised that people thought it was a sad song. I think it's more about encouragement. Helping you to see that, no matter how tough life gets, you can always make it better but you have to do i it yourself. You have to imagine your sky painted in rainbow colors instead of the colorless skies of your sadness.

Given your musical preferences and your reaction to these lyrics I'd recommend Babymetal's song _Brand New Day_ for you next, specifically the version "Brand New Day (Budokan 2021 Live) Eng Subs" on the Fox God channel because it provides English subtitles. It is one of their least metal songs, though they blend many genres, varying quite a lot song by song throughout their discography. Regardless, their lead singer always sings clean and her distinctive voice is the bedrock of their sound.
P.S. FYI if you've heard of the group Polyphia they contributed to the song.

Great reaction, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL.
You are right. Su-metal's vocals have the ability to pierce into one's soul. She's very expressive and she can convey the emotions like no other vocalist.
You may like to watch the live version of this song, totally different vibe but still not too "metal" so to speak, don't worry about that. They have something for everyone and their lyrics are usually very positive and uplifting. This one, in the end, is about hope. Despite all the difficulties and dramatic situations of everyday life.

Su-metal is one of the very best singers - best PERFORMERS - of her age. I don’t understand Japanese very well and I don’t understand what she’s saying a lot of the time but I always know what she means. That’s a natural talent that simply can’t be taught. BABYMETAL are an amazing band and if you check them out they are 99.9% joyous and massively uplifting. They are beautiful in every way you can imagine.

Great first reaction, in a way there are many songs of Babymetal you could have reacted to, many would probably more likely have put a smile on your face instead.
This is one of the sad songs, but almost always in Babymetal's sad songs, their is a light at the end of the tunnel kind of optimism in the song as well.
Please react to a live performance version (although in some sense this video was like a live performance, you can only do it ones for the recording, Babymetal only builds a stage ones and doesn't travel with it).

Babymetal is nothing like kpop really (thank god - not that it's bad but export music?....not for me) - they've been around for 13 years now and during that time have easily been one of the best live performers - with breat vocals choreography staging lighting musicians and of course - their fans amongst other things. This song is beautiful - and there's 3 versions all worth watching (lyric video will show you what it's about). BM is rarely aggressive - but nearly ALWAYS powerful, and they do do quite a few "pop" like ones which may get suggested (not usually my favs but...)

You should now react to the HQ pro shot video of the LIVE performance(link below).
Babymetal is in my opinion the best LIVE band on the planet and Suzuka Nakamoto is an unmatched female vocalist who can adapt to almost any genre.
    Monochrome LIVE
    ruclips.net/video/XJZhy7fWNyY/видео.htmlfeature=shared
BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents.
Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result.
At first Amuse showed little interest and the girls had financing mainly from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia).
If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to LIVE performance videos as this is where they shine.
They have over 60 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more.
Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.)
Suggest reacting to these HQ Pro Shot videos of LIVE performances for a start.

Yui Mizuno left BabyMetal in 2018 due to health reasons and at their concert in Yokohama on April 1 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki (who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019 after Yui's departure) has officially become the third member.
Their new album in my opinion that released March 24 is amazing with so many different styles.
Good luck and hope to see you again.
