Soundgarden never got the accolades they deserved, they were the true rock band of grunge, their music wasn't rough and grungey it was refined and solid like the great rock bands of the 70's like Led Zep and The Who, I think they only got thrown in with grunge because they were from that part of the world where the scene happened. Don't get me wrong, I grew up loving grunge and loved the raw power of Nirvana or the experimental noise of Sonic Youth but Soundgarden just stood out like four masters of their craft in the way the rock giants that came before them did. I mean they did reach great heights but they really should have been a household name in the early 90's instead of just a band that got mentioned any time someone discussed Nirvana or grunge, like Alice in Chains or Pearl Jam were. Soundgarden should have been giants of their day. I mean listen to the intro to Pretty Noose and tell me you can't imagine Kim and Chris playing that while standing out on a raised platform in the middle of a football stadium surrounded by 90,000 people holding lighters in the air as though they were watching Freddie and Brian May?
I used to listen to this compilation along with Zeppelin's "Physical Graffiti" back in 2005 and 2006 a whole lot. I was 15 or 14 and those bands changed my life. Shaped my taste incredibly and I'm grateful to have been in tune to good music early on.
"I'm grateful to have been in tune to good music early on." ... You express exactly what my heart feels :) In my case it was 1997, the year when the compilation was released and I was 17. This music was and IS meaningful to me. I'm also very grateful, thank you SOUNDGARDEN!
My fav time seeing SOUNDGARDEN live was on SUPER-UNKOWN 1994 Tour, It was fuckign awesome. Outta the "BIG 4" Of Grunge (NIRVANA, PEARL JAM, ALICE IN CHAINS, SOUNDGARDEN) we have only Pearl Jam left which I kinda knew back then that the Band would last a long time. CHRIS should still be here, That whole situation was fucked up. He's Missed Big Time!!!!
"When tha shit goes down ya better be ready", story of my life... 5:20 Sampled Black Sabbaths "The wizard" - sick...This was a must greatest hit from the bong.thanksdoc
Takes me back to my late teens and early twenties. No drama, just good music and times. I think it would have been awesome to have been in Seattle during that time. I wished I knew!
Great music Soundgarden had. Why a guy with millions of fans and critical acclaim and a family would off himself is beyond me. Hava a rock and roll day!
Hey Irish! Thanks for all these! But what happened to Quadrophenia?? I was literally going to comment with a thanks for making it commercial free but cannot find the album in your list?

He didn’t fucking off himself, please do even the shallowest of research; it’s pretty obvious.
I think he was killed , because he was going too expose a Hollywood child slave deal!
Muito bom

“Hands all over” sounds a bit Pearl Jam.
