Since my lil cousins come over alot my mum told me to put my lps in a box in my closet so my younger cousins dont get them sad i know bc every time the saw one the would BITE the head off and once they ripped the head off my favorite klps so i LITERALLY cried for a whole 2 weeks until there mother bought me a new one so now my lps are in a box in my closet
same. i don’t see my lps as toys, to me they are collectors items. when little kids come to my house and they see my lps, they automatically want to play with them which i get, because they’re kids, but i usually nicely explain to them not to touch them. they usually don’t listen and get all of them out anyway, along with my biggest littlest pet shop house and leave them scattered on the floor 💀
I would let kids play with my lps with supervision, I believe lps are meant to be played with but they're kids they can be super destructive and they might scatter them or try to rip them apart. I'm with you 100%

(Luckily it was one of the ones I had doubles of that I turn into customs, so I didn't really care. I was way younger and they had an lps bucket and I loved it, but I wasn’t even going there yet, so I tried to steal them, and I stuffed them in my puffy coat, but my mom saw me acting sus and made me return them. The embarrassment bruh I was about to go there and already caught stealing. Luckily I don’t have those sticky fingers anymore.
Last year I brought LPS to my old school and I was playing with them with my friends and one of my old friends stole one so I only let certain people play with them
I have to hide them from my younger brother because once my another brother accidentally said it to him and he cried and he wanted to steal them so badly so i can't say where i keep them and i can't leave them alone for that matter.I always hear him saying he wants to steal my toys mostly lps.I do let older one but when he was little he broke them and lost one.Also that day he cried entire day until eventually we calmed him down.So now i have to worry when i leave them alone in my room yes they're kids but stealing isn't nice cause ppl always were stealing toys from me so I just hide my toys since then.

in the playroom in the basement is where i used to leave all of my sets. mom would have clients over and let THEIR YOUNGER KIDS play with MY LPS I HAD SET A CERTAIN WAY. I always came back to them absolutely trashed and knocked all over the place. lost a few pets and pieces. told mom to never let other kids play with my things again. but she didn’t care. she let it keep happening. so i took them all to dads instead where i ended up having a real studio to film🤭
My cousins broke my sets, lost my stuff, stole about a back pack worth of stuff. A kinder gardener backpack but still. Before that I took my lps to school, and girl stole them from my desk and lied about it. She showed me all the lps she had because we had talked about them before hand. And when I saw the same scarf on it, I knew.
I can agree. This is something younger me would've definitely done, lol. The only kids who are allowed to play with my LPS are my younger siblings. Since we all live in the same house, it'd be pretty easy to tell if they yoinked one lol But I also give my doubles to then to have too
I personally don't have a problem with letting my niece and nephews play with them anymore because to me they mean more than plastic, but i understand where everyone's coming from because i used to be like that too, now im more laid back not just because the kids are a bit older and more gentle with the lps but because its fun to somewhat play lps with them and make memories despite them being my collection 🤷 I do collect lego mini figures as well and those I keep put up because the different components of each figure would be to time consuming to put back together hence why i let the kids play/have all my other Legos cuz I'm more interested in the collectable figures as I've gotten older
I remember I has a collection of legos and some other little playsets all set up nicely around my room and organized into a whole bunch of little cities, then we have people visiting and the little kids get sent up to my room. They see my toys and just wreck them all. At the end of the day, little pieces are all over the floor, everything disorganized to the point where I had no motivation to set it all up again. It takes a while to carefully organize things sometimes. I just cried inside. My bedroom is not a child's playroom anymore. My parents or their parents didn't respect my space.
As a collector of both lps and mlp this is one of my biggest fears (or that if one of my mom’s friends brings their kids over they will whine about the big see trough box full of lps stuff) idk what I would do if a kid stole some of my toys, what makes it worse is that I have trauma’s from having toys stolen or unwillingly swapped as a kid and not getting my stuff back. When I was like 12 (I'm 16 now), I hung out with a bunch of older girls (they were like 15-16 at the time) and i finally convinced my mom to buy me a bunch of lps (we didn't have much money so it was all yard sale stuff) so that I could play with them cause they wouldn't let me play with their lps. Then they proceeded to slowly steal half my entire collection and especially any cute lps I had. 😐 A few years later, right before they moved i was helping them pack and I found a hidden stash of like every one of my nicer lps that they had stolen over time and they still denied it and I never got them back. 😔 Now that I'm older, I literally just ordered 4 of my dream lps, and it's safe to say they will sit on my shelf in my bedroom where I'll never worry about brats stealing my property again. Lol BTW, if ur curious the lps I ordered r 2 collies and 2 short hair cats that I've always wanted, and they resemble my pets irl! 🤩
Play with, sure. But kids never just play, they either destroy it or steal it lmao. I had some baby dolls I repainted that my niece played with and it was easy to see when she tried to take one home and every time I stopped her she WEPT lol. Keep in mind I gave her lots of baby dolls including some of the same variety that I collect and repaint, but she just wanted all of them lol. And really why wouldn’t she, she’s just a kid anyway, but now she doesn’t get to play with them as much lol.
My little cousins have never stolen from me they know I worked very hard to buy them I’m 16 and all of my cousins range from 11-6 and they all know how much they mean to me and respect my boundaries
