Very informative tut! I love how you break down the info and offer specifics. Those things sound obvious but as a teacher, myself, I see how people skim over stuff that might seem obvious them but really they're leaving out key deets that could make a difference to certain viewers. The whole idea of teaching, after all, is to provide a pathway that enables learners to work independently--not just rely on highly-curated methods. Anyhow, this is a long way of saying, THANKS! I'm very pleased with my experience making my video w/ the blurred background effect, in addition to, the results.
Thanks for this great video. Is it possible to use the same technique when turning a horizontal video to vertical (so the blurred effect is at the top and bottom of the video) and the horizontal video plays smaller in the center of the vertical format?
Mike, I’m kind of frustrated with my Magic Mouse with iMovie. It tends to make the cursor hop all around. What do you use? Thanks for all your awesome tips. Every time I make a video, I look up your channel to make it all work!
I use a Magic Mouse, but you have to be careful not to move it around too fast in screen recordings or it can get squirrelly. I sometimes use a Magic Trackpad, which tends to be smoother.
Off topic, but have you ever made a tutorial on how to create a youtube trailer for the youtube channel? I've searched your channel, but can't fina anything related.
This is my channel trailer: ruclips.net/video/7XVJ_UyRPKE/видео.html A trailer can be many things. I see it is a mission statement or "why" behind your channel.
I REALLY hope you read this, I need help. I recently had to convert 30 LivePhotos from my iPhone where I went through the process of separating the still from the .mov, which was a simple process. I wanted to make a movie from all the .mov files but find that they are no longer vertical when I added them to iMovie, all of them were square. Did I do something wrong that you can think of right off the top of your head? They were all shot vertically and I wanted to tie all of them together in their full vertical size. Any ideas?
If you crop from the top pic on the left, it lets you crop from side to side or top to bottom only, rather than corner to corner. It took me YEARS to figure that out, and i did by accident!

This is genius - it never ceases to amaze me the awesome hacks people come up with to do things iMovie isn't designed to do :D
this was awesome, thank you!
Outstanding tip! Thanks for sharing! Worked like a charm!
Legend. Now my oly 4 instagram vdos have another life.
You are so good at teaching, thank you so much!

hmm not quite sure what you mean? would appreciate a-bit more info if u have the time. cheers
thanks a ton
It's funny that you have to do all these work arounds because they limit the features on purpose.
