Hello, I really appreciate the video, a lot of great information. Correct me if I'm wrong but in the video you did not have to drop the subframe, correct? In the description, I believe you said it had to be dropped in order to get the transmission out.
Thanks for this video. I have a 07 Optima 5 speed and thought about swapping it to a 6 speed later. The transmissions are identical with the same mounts except mine only has one connector on the trans instead of two. I thought about doing this some time later. Everything should bolt up. The 2.0 CRDi Magentis had this very 6 speed so if I can get the shifter, axles, and a trans on ebay then I can do it for around $700.
@@howtofrank502 thank you for answering so quickly! Yea I figured that too. I don't exactly trust the transmission place I took it to. They say the whole unit needs to be replaced. But it's only slipping in first gear. Reverse works perfectly and any gear above first works fine as well. What do you think?
Joseph Connolly Sorry you caught me walking into work lol! Do a fluid drain and fill (do not flush) and replace your transmission temperature sensor. Common part to fail and it will cause a hard shift/possible slip like you describe. What’re the miles on it?
@@howtofrank502 no problem at all. There is 115 on it. I'll tell you when the problem started...some chipmunks decided to keep some nuts on top of the engine. I'm thinking they had to have gotten into a wire. I haven't done a full inspection of all the wires yet myself; I was thinking the transmission shop would have done that but I don't believe they did. I will definitely let you know what I find.
What's happening? So I ended up buying a new transmission unit. The whole process was not too different from your video(since I have automatic transmission). Taking the axles out I was able to bypass taking any ABS wires out by turning the steering wheel all the way to the left on the driver's side and all the way to the right on the passenger. On the bottom I took the torque converter bolts out and removed the entire bell housing. I also drained the radiator to get a hose out of the way. Other than that the whole process was about the same. Great video thank you again. So helpful forreal.
I have the same car and I’m having issues with my car going into gear from a stop , I’ve bleed my clutch salve cylinder and it’s works but after a few hours it goes back to the bad gears
Hey there, is it specifically your 2nd gear giving you issues? What happens when you double clutch? Also, here’s the link: www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/kia,2011,optima,2.4l+l4,1447412,transmission-manual,clutch+kit,1993
Hello there, sorry for the late reply! Manual transmission have these splines that are very particular when lining up. I believe your hybrid is automatic, which shouldn’t have the splines. Hope that helps!

How high did you have your car up on jack stands?
at what mileage you had to do it ? asking as I have a 2013 manual myself.
Sorry for the late reply! Mine failed at 130k, but it was abused.
And where did you order your clutch kit at ?
How different are the steps for automatic transmission? Same vehicle.
Unfortunately, it’s a fairly different process. From what I’ve read, the subframe has to be dropped in order to remove the transmission.

I’m changing my 2013 2.0 turbos front wheel drive automatic tranny later this week. Is it the same with the automatic or close
How did it go?

Sounds like your master cyl is on the way out, transmission will need to be pulled. I got the AMS kit from RockAuto! Works great
@@howtofrank502 can you send me the link
Quick question , do you think the clutch slave master cylinder will not allow my 2nd gear to work or would that be my transmission going out ?

How do you line up splines on a hybrid ? If it’s not lined up, would the motor still turn?
