I just want to correct the Filipino lady here.
USA didn't save Philippines from Spanish occupation, Spanish Empire was already in decline and they did not have enough power nor troops to quell all the rebellions from their various holdings in the Americas therefore they did have the power to stop the revolution on the Philippines given how far it is and how stretched thin they are military-wise and economically-wise. Philippines was on its way to gaining it's independence regardless of US intervention.
And USA did not just come, they did not just trade, they "'bought'" the Philippines and Cuba from Spain in the Treaty of Parisa treaty where no Filipino/Cuban representation; Philippines did not even knew that they are being bought.

As a Thai, who has been to many SEA countries except Brunei, Timor-leste and Philippines
1.Indonesia - One of my most loved and amazing destination for Bali and Nusa Penida really stunning beach, and their cuisine is exceptionally good!! why we don't have much Indonesian cuisine in Bangkok :( I really love Nasi goreng and Bebek goreng and Rendang too, Very hospitable people.
2.Malaysia - Just visit there for Kuala Lumpur and Penang, kinda more chill, relaxing vibes culture with economically stabler than most of us except Brunei/Singapore, Malaysian food is kinda mixed from Chinese and Indian (or maybe I just see these 2 cuisines a lot here)
3.Myanmar - Very beautiful country tbh, Their is so much potential for Burmese people with so many different ethnics there like Mon, Karen, Burma, Rohingya there a lot of conflict and Military Junta causes war with people there(same for Thailand but much worseee) not seen Their cuisine a lot but Bagan, Mandalay is so beautiful and rich culture, those white powder called "Tanaka" I think it made from Wood tho
    4. Laos - This neighbor country is especially like brother with Thailand so we have like similar cuisine for Isan food(North Eastern Thailand) and we can actually understand each other, For travelling I love Luang Prabang and Vientiane. they're so chilling slow-life vibes and friendly as much as Thai people too ^_^ Big hug here!!
    5. Cambodia - Also Thai and Cambodia netizen is kinda hate each other, in real life our country depend on Myanmarese and Khmer workers because they're tougher and better than Thai people lol, not much culture there which is really same as Thai but Angkor Wat have different ancient energy from Hinduism Kinda like it when visiting tho but not second time
    6. Vietnam - How can I not love Vietnam!! , Da Nang, Bana hills, Ha long bay, Hoi an, Hue those delicious Pho, Banh Mi, all Seafood stuff, some other food that I can't name it in English XD, also coffee is worth mentioning strong flavour with sooo many Cafe in every corner
7.Singapore - One of the developed country here and very small too!, not much to see for many days, just visit there for their stunning airport, Marina bay sand, The Helix, may be Sentosa, and Their Hainan Chicken rice is really popular here in Thailand
    8. Philippines - I actually want to go to those Palawan, Puerto Princesa, Chocolate hills very beautiful untouched nature and beach!!, Their culture seem so similar to Thai to some extent tho, I also have Filipino English teacher as the clip said XD
    9. Brunei - not really know this country much, only Beautiful golden mosque? and really rich king and country due to petroleum
    10. Timor-leste - This newest country here I actually dont know anything about them to be honest, just knowing that they split from Indonesia, hope to see them going up to ASEAN community too.

Not only to protect your head and face from the sun, but also to make you respect whatever you are farming. Great video! My impressions of each SEA nation as an Indonesian 🇮🇩
Timor-Leste 🇹🇱 - Beautiful nature and hardworking people! Unfortunate that their current state is like that but still hoping for better future of the Timorese. Portuguese is more useful there iirc, but quite a significant number can still speak Indonesian.
Philippines 🇵🇭 - Fluent in English and very talkative! Famous for its daring delicacy 'balut'. Essentially very similar culturally to us but just different predominant faith.
Brunei 🇧🇳 - Oil-rich and rich country. Idk much about them sadly apart from the fact that Jaz is Bruneian and they actually implement Sharia law there 🥴
Singapore 🇸🇬 - Most are tri- or even quadrilinguals! Small but influential nation thanks to the Malacca straits' busy shipping routes. Rich and clean although I do find a bit too crowded and overwhelming at times.
Malaysia 🇲🇾 - Ahh I have a lot to say about them 😂! To sum up, basically our kinda richer and more economically stable twin. We can easily understand each others' standard languages and have more or less the same cuisine and to a certain extent cultures too. Our keyboard warriors are always annoying as hell but meeting as people mostly very chill!
Thailand 🇹🇭 - Always visited by tourists! Their spicy foods are amazing bc we love spice too hahah. Language seems tough tho with the separate script and tones...
Myanmar 🇲🇲 - Lots of monks! Beautiful architecture as well as difficult language 😢. Sad that the military junta is somewhat thriving and causing havoc to their people 😔
Laos 🇱🇦 - Basically Thailand with loads of unexploded landmines, much less tourists and heartstopping cuisines 😱
Cambodia 🇰🇭 - A young nation in terms of population's average age. Ofc, Angkor Wat and Tonle Sap but also fascinated by the Cham people! Misleading at first bc I thought their language is closer to Thai and Lao but actually Vietnamese is closer 😱
Vietnam 🇻🇳 - Healthy cuisine and I love that! Despite looking very Sinitic they actually speak an Austroasiatic language. Motorcycles everywhere and a very tonal language 😭

This Thai girl looks innocently ignorant. Lol She knows very little of her own country and also neighbors. Of course her smiles have made her look nice and friendly. ยิ้มไว้ก่อนอะเนาะน้องเนาะ คนไทยเรา 55

"This is my perspective as an Indonesian.
    1. Singapore: Clean, tall buildings, excellent education, organized transportation. I've been here twice. Some locals are not very friendly. One day here is enough as they only have tall buildings, malls, and Changi Airport (not suitable for me personally).
    2. Malaysia: I've been here four times. Delicious food, very friendly people. Many Indonesians study here because they have some of the best universities in Southeast Asia after Singapore. It's easy to find Indonesian songs here on the radio, in malls, and even when I was at GSC Mid Valley, I found Indonesian movies there. I was surprised that some of them couldn't speak Malay. Sorry, not body shaming, but there are many obese people here.
    3. Thailand: Very affordable, delicious food (my favorite is mango sticky rice), beautiful beaches, many interesting spots for photos. I always buy clothes here as they are very cheap. Many historical places. I don't know why, but many people wear braces here. Thai memes seem funny to me. I've been scammed by tuk-tuk here; there are too many tourists. I think Thailand is overrated.
    4. Philippines: They have beautiful beaches, good singers, love pageants, and are our rivals in MLBB. Many people speak English here, and the food is good but not spicy. I don't know why their food tastes sweet; I think they add sugar to everything. I'm so sorry, but I find balut disgusting (sorry). The challenge when traveling here is transportation; public transport is not adequate for tourist destinations (hopefully, their government can improve).
    5. Vietnam: Like a mini China, many temples, beautiful mountain landscapes. My favorite place is Sapa. I've been to Vietnam five times, visited Danang, Hoi An, and Dalat. There are many flowers and interesting cafes here. The worst thing about Vietnam is the traffic. The difference between traffic here and in Indonesia is that in Indonesia, even in traffic, they stay in their lanes, but in Vietnam, they move in all directions. I think traffic signs here are just accessories.
    6. Laos: Similar to Thailand in culture, tradition, and even food, but I find Laotian people friendlier than Thais. Many historical places here, but it's hard to find English speakers.
    7. Cambodia: Angkor Wat, Pol Pot, Tonle Sap Lake, beautiful forest landscapes here. Interestingly, USD is accepted here.
    8. Myanmar: Military conflicts, Rohingya issue (OMG, there are many Rohingya refugees in Indonesia; please bring them back to Myanmar). Many Buddha temples here.
    9. Timor-Leste: Once part of Indonesia, Portuguese language, Christian majority. They have beautiful beaches but not well-managed. Very underrated."
    10. Brunei: Oil,Islam, people here are not as friendly as Malaysians, somewhat stiff and individualistic, not many tourist attractions here. It's boring (even on weekends)."

As far as I know, Indonesian songs have long been hits in Malaysia. It seems that during Melly Goeslaw's era, the song and film "Ada Apa Dengan Cinta" was very famous and many other Indonesian films and music are known there to this day. Recently the song "Dawai" and the Indonesian series became the top series on Netflix entitled "Gadis Kretek" means Cretek Girl". Legendary Indonesian bands such as Dewa 19, Sheila on 7, or Indonesian solo singers such as Ari Lasso, Rossa, BCL and many more. They also know new Indonesian singers and new songs. The point is that many Indonesian singers have held concerts there.

Fun Fact: Filipinos are closer to Thais, Vietnamese and Malaysians while Indonesians are closer to Melanesians, Papuans, Solomon Islands, etc
