That Vietnamese Hat can also be found in many ethnic groups in Indonesia, including my own Ethnic, Sasak. We call it Songkok. In the past, We do not go to the rice field without wearing songkok. Not only to protect your head and face from the sun, but also to make you respect whatever you are farming. When wearing a hat like that, you can hardly look up, you can look straight, but you are most comfortable when you are looking down.
I love how Minh Chi, the Vietnamese girl, also discusses the downside of our culture. We do judge people appearance and frown upon girls who wear revealing clothes (slutshame them). She studies about the other countries' laws and struggles, plus the relationship of Vietnam with other countries. In contrast, others only talk about about one dimensional Viet stereotypes like food, some clothings. Really culturally aware compared to many youngsters I have seen here.

Great video! My impressions of each SEA nation as an Indonesian 🇮🇩 Timor-Leste 🇹🇱 - Beautiful nature and hardworking people! Unfortunate that their current state is like that but still hoping for better future of the Timorese. Portuguese is more useful there iirc, but quite a significant number can still speak Indonesian. Philippines 🇵🇭 - Fluent in English and very talkative! Famous for its daring delicacy 'balut'. Essentially very similar culturally to us but just different predominant faith. Brunei 🇧🇳 - Oil-rich and rich country. Idk much about them sadly apart from the fact that Jaz is Bruneian and they actually implement Sharia law there 🥴 Singapore 🇸🇬 - Most are tri- or even quadrilinguals! Small but influential nation thanks to the Malacca straits' busy shipping routes. Rich and clean although I do find a bit too crowded and overwhelming at times. Malaysia 🇲🇾 - Ahh I have a lot to say about them 😂! To sum up, basically our kinda richer and more economically stable twin. We can easily understand each others' standard languages and have more or less the same cuisine and to a certain extent cultures too. Our keyboard warriors are always annoying as hell but meeting as people mostly very chill! Thailand 🇹🇭 - Always visited by tourists! Their spicy foods are amazing bc we love spice too hahah. Language seems tough tho with the separate script and tones... Myanmar 🇲🇲 - Lots of monks! Beautiful architecture as well as difficult language 😢. Sad that the military junta is somewhat thriving and causing havoc to their people 😔 Laos 🇱🇦 - Basically Thailand with loads of unexploded landmines, much less tourists and heartstopping cuisines 😱 Cambodia 🇰🇭 - A young nation in terms of population's average age. Ofc, Angkor Wat and Tonle Sap but also fascinated by the Cham people! Misleading at first bc I thought their language is closer to Thai and Lao but actually Vietnamese is closer 😱 Vietnam 🇻🇳 - Healthy cuisine and I love that! Despite looking very Sinitic they actually speak an Austroasiatic language. Motorcycles everywhere and a very tonal language 😭

But Indonesi is the least one… as back then international pageants were banned. They only started from 2004 after a long sleep guess… and it is still not 100% fully supported by government.

"This is my perspective as an Indonesian. 1. Singapore: Clean, tall buildings, excellent education, organized transportation. I've been here twice. Some locals are not very friendly. One day here is enough as they only have tall buildings, malls, and Changi Airport (not suitable for me personally). 2. Malaysia: I've been here four times. Delicious food, very friendly people. Many Indonesians study here because they have some of the best universities in Southeast Asia after Singapore. It's easy to find Indonesian songs here on the radio, in malls, and even when I was at GSC Mid Valley, I found Indonesian movies there. I was surprised that some of them couldn't speak Malay. Sorry, not body shaming, but there are many obese people here. 3. Thailand: Very affordable, delicious food (my favorite is mango sticky rice), beautiful beaches, many interesting spots for photos. I always buy clothes here as they are very cheap. Many historical places. I don't know why, but many people wear braces here. Thai memes seem funny to me. I've been scammed by tuk-tuk here; there are too many tourists. I think Thailand is overrated. 4. Philippines: They have beautiful beaches, good singers, love pageants, and are our rivals in MLBB. Many people speak English here, and the food is good but not spicy. I don't know why their food tastes sweet; I think they add sugar to everything. I'm so sorry, but I find balut disgusting (sorry). The challenge when traveling here is transportation; public transport is not adequate for tourist destinations (hopefully, their government can improve). 5. Vietnam: Like a mini China, many temples, beautiful mountain landscapes. My favorite place is Sapa. I've been to Vietnam five times, visited Danang, Hoi An, and Dalat. There are many flowers and interesting cafes here. The worst thing about Vietnam is the traffic. The difference between traffic here and in Indonesia is that in Indonesia, even in traffic, they stay in their lanes, but in Vietnam, they move in all directions. I think traffic signs here are just accessories. 6. Laos: Similar to Thailand in culture, tradition, and even food, but I find Laotian people friendlier than Thais. Many historical places here, but it's hard to find English speakers. 7. Cambodia: Angkor Wat, Pol Pot, Tonle Sap Lake, beautiful forest landscapes here. Interestingly, USD is accepted here. 8. Myanmar: Military conflicts, Rohingya issue (OMG, there are many Rohingya refugees in Indonesia; please bring them back to Myanmar). Many Buddha temples here. 9. Timor-Leste: Once part of Indonesia, Portuguese language, Christian majority. They have beautiful beaches but not well-managed. Very underrated." 10. Brunei: Oil,Islam, people here are not as friendly as Malaysians, somewhat stiff and individualistic, not many tourist attractions here. It's boring (even on weekends)."
As far as I know, Indonesian songs have long been hits in Malaysia. It seems that during Melly Goeslaw's era, the song and film "Ada Apa Dengan Cinta" was very famous and many other Indonesian films and music are known there to this day. Recently the song "Dawai" and the Indonesian series became the top series on Netflix entitled "Gadis Kretek" means Cretek Girl". Legendary Indonesian bands such as Dewa 19, Sheila on 7, or Indonesian solo singers such as Ari Lasso, Rossa, BCL and many more. They also know new Indonesian singers and new songs. The point is that many Indonesian singers have held concerts there.

8:45 we also have the same hat in the PH that's used by farmers, but today it's not that common to see them unlike in the 80s.

In the Philippines, our rice farmers also wear a similar design to nonla, which we call in my native language _sadók_, and _salakót_ in Tagalog. In my hometown, the _sadok_ is usually made up of rattan or dried anahaw leaves.

I'm grateful that this girl is a representative of Indonesia apart from the previous girl.
Great video! My impressions of each SEA nation as an Indonesian 🇮🇩
Timor-Leste 🇹🇱 - Beautiful nature and hardworking people!
Idk much about them sadly apart from the fact that Jaz is Bruneian and they actually implement Sharia law there 🥴
Singapore 🇸🇬 - Most are tri- or even quadrilinguals!
Sad that the military junta is somewhat thriving and causing havoc to their people 😔
Laos 🇱🇦 - Basically Thailand with loads of unexploded landmines, much less tourists and heartstopping cuisines 😱
Cambodia 🇰🇭 - A young nation in terms of population's average age. Ofc, Angkor Wat and Tonle Sap but also fascinated by the Cham people! Misleading at first bc I thought their language is closer to Thai and Lao but actually Vietnamese is closer 😱
Vietnam 🇻🇳 - Healthy cuisine and I love that! Despite looking very Sinitic they actually speak an Austroasiatic language. Motorcycles everywhere and a very tonal language 😭
Tonal but vietnam language is monosyllabic language and grammar structure is easy... Vietnam language is not that hard😂😂

So rude for no reason. She looks Thai and she’s speaking Korean because it this is a South Korean based channel. They’re all located in South Korea, and clearly she’s fluent in Korean, not English. Why tf would she be speaking Thai to others apart from them asking for specific vocabulary?

Very underrated."
10. Brunei: Oil,Islam, people here are not as friendly as Malaysians, somewhat stiff and individualistic, not many tourist attractions here. It's boring (even on weekends)."

Legendary Indonesian bands such as Dewa 19, Sheila on 7, or Indonesian solo singers such as Ari Lasso, Rossa, BCL and many more. They also know new Indonesian singers and new songs. The point is that many Indonesian singers have held concerts there.
