my next I am going to grow into a tree; my firebush I have now is a huge shrub at 6ft tall and 5 ft wide, may take a cutting from that and try to grow it.

I have a perfect spot for a native firebush to grow into. I have a weedilia situation to deal with first, then it's firebush time!

What do you recommend with harvesting/planting the seeds? Dry them out first or just plant the berries?

Wow, idk if it because it’s two years ago but you saying that it’s hard to come across the native is crazy, me and my family have sour entire yard full of them and I’m about to start propagating them, we recently redid our plants and went full native, we have shiny leaf coffee, firebush, coontie, I’m gonna do the milkweed think and fire bush tree to help the monarch population because I heard they are going endangered, and the atala butterfly which they though was extinct has made a huge comeback in south Florida because people have been planting the native coontie plant much more

I think you mean the tomato stakes. Usually I use stakes to mark where I have put things so that I or my kids don’t step on the baby plants

Question. I planted a Firebush about a month ago but it is about 1 1/2 feet away from my screened porch. I’m worried I may have underestimated the size. Is it possible to keep it small by pruning? I added it because I am trying to start gradually transition to a native garden . Thanks for the videos

I see that a firebush "dwarf" variety is available that grows to about 8 feet. I wonder of this is some type of native? Thanks for the great videos.

I’ve been throwing used coffee grounds and the flowers look so much prettier! Make sense?

Coffee is rich in nitrogen and is used in compost. So it would make sense that it is fertilizing your soil and giving your firebush the nutrients it needs to be at its best. Sooo... yes 😄

The wild Firebush I see in North Florida are small shrubs that are no where near as big as the ones you are talking about.

North Florida firebush dies back and doesn’t have ideal conditions for getting really large. 👍
