I love cowboy so much. He seems like such a sweet boy and he knows the route that you walk and his wait at the road him staying until being told to he seems like a amazing dog. I also will be looking into your treats would love to support. I love how easily they break for training but not in a messy way. Also what state do live in wonder if you ever wanted to talk sometime. Love all of what you do and keep up the amazing videos.

Definitely a lot of leash work and lots of long line work. And lots of time and patiences is the most important part. The long line is annoying at first but definitely worth it in the end. I know it can be harder for a bird dog or some other kind of breed that works away from you but i have a lab golden poodle mix and all 3 bird dog breeds and she is the best dog I have ever had off leash. But I do use a e collar but most of the time I let her off leash now with out the collar on and she is perfectly fine. I only zapped her after she was trained properly to the collar once in her entire life time and she is 2 years old now. I zapped her when she was chasing a bird what she was bred to do since that day I have never zapped her again and she can be off leash with out the collar so I know that she respects me not just because of the collar. I also trained her on a 50 feet leash so she could be far away from me on my land to run and play but practices a lot on making sure she will come back. She also knows a down from probably 200 feet or more away from me. I also taught her that the vibration on the e collar means down so I could more easily reinforce the down from far away. And I taught here from the beginning that the beep means come so if she dose not listen to the beep then she gets a vibration and then a zap. So it not like I shock her all the time because it’s fun. I am very respectful with it and like I said she almost never wears it anymore. She really just wears it for safety just is case. I have also been more recently working on if I run the other way with out saying anything that she will chase me and it is always better to chase me then I chase her. You and cowboy have such a good relationship and I can definitely see and know that you have put in a lot of time and effort and energy with him. Love what you do and keep up the amazing work. Have a wonderful weekend.

My dogs got more off leash capability than on leash.
On leash mode, the stubborn mode kicks in, while stubborn mode off leash is not even triggered.

Same. He is flawless off leash. I joke this breeds wild spirit just can't handle the domestication of a leash, but when unclipped he doesn't go anywhere LOL

My Rottweiler died recently, and he left a void in my house. A couple weeks before he passed, I met a Blue Heeler on a mountain trail. I had never seen one or even knew they existed, but immediately thought he was one of the coolest dogs I’ve ever seen.
Jack, I’m wondering how you came across Cowboy. With this breed of dogs being so rare, I find it difficult to find and gather information on good breeders. I also love the look of Cowboy. Big head and wide face. Reminds me of my rottie.

Cowboy has a thicker head than most. Much more energy than a rottie ( i grew up around rottweilers so am very familiar ). Tough to find breeders for sure. I got him from Oakwood acds in texas.

    Hey mate, watching from Aus.
How did you teach your “down”, our red cattle comes to our feet to “down”. She won’t do it at the position we give her the command.
