They have a nice agreeable feeling to them. Especially for quick rough sketching using both the tip and side of the lead. That's how they are best used, I think. However, for longer renderings I would still prefer my Staedtler blue pencils in different levels of hardness because I couldn't achieve a full range of values with this one Blackwing pencil.
