I am considering buying on of those to use external sdds and scards with my ipad. I just wanted to clarify a few things. First can I transfer word files, pdf, excel docs etc through the device. Finally, can it remember multiple networks, so home, phone tether point and work?
Hi Alistair. It can only connect to one network at a time, but yes, it will remember each of them. You can select which one to connect to in the app.Yes, you can transfer all your files between all attached storage types and the ipad. Now if you connect to the FileHub and then connect the FileHub to your internet connection, it will only be on the slightly slower 2.4GHz band. Of course, the bottleneck will probably still be your internet connection, unless you are very lucky to have a super fast connection. Good luck.
Alistair Brown As this primarily a media sharing device, you can copy any type of file via you computer to be read on the iPad, however writing back and forth is not easy as a result of IOS. You can definitely share WiFi and I did not have any issues streaming 4 movies at the same time while accessing the internet however I was only reading from the device. As mentioned, IOS has many limitations. As for the network, you can connect to as many as you want and it will remember them. Your hotspot, work or home WiFi will all work.

@@MikeFaucher Hi Ken and Mike. So if you open up the File Management section of the FileHub app and then click and hold on the file you want to edit, the standard share sheet will pop up. If they get it to show in the Files app, that will be amazing, but don't hold your breath. It is nice that you can view the files in other apps that support SMB, as long as you turn on the SMB options on the FileHub.
That is a tough call as this device is mainly meant to work with media. In theory it could be made to work but it will require some new features from Apple. Safe advice is to say no for now.
You should explore using a wifi Hard Drive or if you do not need portability you could get a NAS drive. That is what I use at home and it works well for getting files on and off the iPad. I use an app called File Browser for transferring the files if the app does not support it natively.
davva360 yup, FileBrowser on iOS is fantastic for copying all the files everywhere. And once you have that the Files app can also be used though you need to make sure smb sharing is enabled. That is probably a limitation of the format you used on the SD card. It may be formatted the FAT32. I have many files larger than 2Gig but I use exFat or NTFS as the format. Try reformatting your card/USB drive.
The GL-AR750S-ext is more of a home wifi router and less of a travel router/file sharing device. This is more of a competitor to the "Circle" than the RavPower. I will add it to my list of items I want to try for future videos. Thanks for the input.
You can see the section you want to be in starting around the 6:20 of my video. The default password is 11111111 (8 x 1). Go into the settings (gear icon). The user settings for the admin, users, and the Wifi are in the same section. Hope that helps.
To access the internet go back to the settings (6:20 of the video) and select Wifi settings. Remember you iPad connects to the RAVPower and the RAVPower connects to the internet. You have to set them both. Once you configure the RAVPower to the internet, connecting the ipad to the RAVPower will get you going.
Under the front cover next to the ethernet port there is a USB (either Type or Micro) dead center. Just plug the cable that came with it there and to any USB charger or battery pack.
Bought that crap 6 months ago. Software just doesnt work (freezing, dropping wifi connection, etc, etc) and to use some of the advertised features you need to use built-in web interface that looks like a student project... After I raised the question on Amazon, RAV tried to buy out my bad review for like $10-20?.. I would suggest to stay away and look for alternatives. Yes they are more expensive but I'm using one since that and they actually work.
Vasiliy Ruzha I guess everyone has different experiences in addition to a couple of updates since then. Many variables with this type of device but I have had great luck with it. Thanks for the input.
@@jonathanlennard2472 , dont really want to advertise anything here :) Just look for alternatives... there are few of them on the market, mostly marketed for photo pros. Rawpower has a similar unit in stock it seems. To my eyes the only difference is the battery capacity? www.ravpower.com/p/ravpower-6000mah-filehub-plus.html
The RAVPower is a great device except the software needed to use it tracks your location and will not run unless you give it permission to do so. Even if you don’t care if a company is tracking you and selling that info to third parties, it drains the battery on your mobile device.
Mike Faucher Well here is the thing. I use the app on my Android phone which as I said, it will not run unless I give it permission to access my location. Per your last comment I installed it onto my iPad with location off and it runs fine. All the more reason to switch over to an iPhone I guess.
The only thing you can do is a factory reset. Remove any cards, and use a paperclip and press the reset for about 10 seconds. You find the location in the manual. I includled a link in case you do not have it. cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0257/5656/5579/files/RP-WD009_User_Manual.pdf?24508
Not sure what you are referring too. My affiliate link points to the new one for $49.99 but currently they are out of stock. Not sure where you got the $250 but thanks for pointing it out.
The basic process is to attach to the devices wifi via the app. Once you are connected, go to the settings and set your internet settings. This will allow you to share a connection. Copy some data to an SD card or USB device and using the mobile app you can access the files on it. That the basic setup. If you have a particular issue I will be glad to help.

That is probably a limitation of the format you used on the SD card. It may be formatted the FAT32. I have many files larger than 2Gig but I use exFat or NTFS as the format. Try reformatting your card/USB drive.
Compare GL.inet GL-AR750S-ext to these if you can please too
The GL-AR750S-ext is more of a home wifi router and less of a travel router/file sharing device. This is more of a competitor to the "Circle" than the RavPower. I will add it to my list of items I want to try for future videos. Thanks for the input.
How do you get to where you change the password or what is the password
You can see the section you want to be in starting around the 6:20 of my video. The default password is 11111111 (8 x 1). Go into the settings (gear icon). The user settings for the admin, users, and the Wifi are in the same section. Hope that helps.
To access the internet go back to the settings (6:20 of the video) and select Wifi settings. Remember you iPad connects to the RAVPower and the RAVPower connects to the internet. You have to set them both. Once you configure the RAVPower to the internet, connecting the ipad to the RAVPower will get you going.
How do you charge this thing?
Under the front cover next to the ethernet port there is a USB (either Type or Micro) dead center. Just plug the cable that came with it there and to any USB charger or battery pack.
Can you change the wan mac address?? or clone one with it?
No, just IP and subnet.
Vasiliy Ruzha what device are you using?
@@jonathanlennard2472 , dont really want to advertise anything here :) Just look for alternatives... there are few of them on the market, mostly marketed for photo pros. Yes, RAVPower advertise more features and it's cheaper, BUT, I spent a solid week with RP-WD007 trying to make it work as advertised... and it failed horribly, so... :)
@@MikeFaucher , I'm willing to believe that's the case if you could make another, more detailed review that show us how the web interface looks after those updates... and show-case that their advertised features, like sharing hotel's wifi, actually work. I spend a week with device, traveling and staying in 4 or 5 different hotels... the thing did not work in any of them. Besides that, their attempt to buy out negative review... that practice should not exist.
Vasiliy Ruzha Fair enough. I will go back at a later this me and go into more details. Can’t promise when but thanks for the input.
Are you using File Hub or File hub plus?
@@MikeFaucher RAV Filehub
@@keng8883 Thanks. This is interesting as I am using the same software on IOS and location service is off. Are you on IOS or Android?
Mike Faucher Well here is the thing. I use the app on my Android phone which as I said, it will not run unless I give it permission to access my location. Per your last comment I installed it onto my iPad with location off and it runs fine. All the more reason to switch over to an iPhone I guess.
@@keng8883 Glad the mystery is solved .
I’ve forgotten my password what can I do
The only thing you can do is a factory reset. Remove any cards, and use a paperclip and press the reset for about 10 seconds. You find the location in the manual. I includled a link in case you do not have it. cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0257/5656/5579/files/RP-WD009_User_Manual.pdf?24508
DocsUNIFI 👏 😂
This is a complete ripoff! You want $250.00 USED, plus $5.00 shipping for this unit when it sells for $49.00 new on Amazon?
Not sure what you are referring too. My affiliate link points to the new one for $49.99 but currently they are out of stock. Not sure where you got the $250 but thanks for pointing it out.
When they go out of stock scammers come online charging 250 for items they probably never even ship.
@@technovangelist Yep, it's a shame when people take advantage of a popular product. Hopefully, they will restock shortly.
Great advertise! Almost the entire video. Still dont know how to set it UP?!%@#
The basic process is to attach to the devices wifi via the app. Once you are connected, go to the settings and set your internet settings. This will allow you to share a connection. Copy some data to an SD card or USB device and using the mobile app you can access the files on it. That the basic setup. If you have a particular issue I will be glad to help.
