Completely Stellar Guitar Technique! George is amazing in sound & style ! I love his studio & live perfomances. One of the all time greats !!! I wish I only, could play like that ! Simply amazing !!!
That was as creative as it gets people,,, lynch is incredible, that strat wicked smooth tone.. , wow, simply amazing, who gives a shit what he shooting up
You can tell when someone is on juice by their skin appearance and complexion and after seeing George for the first time in 15 years, he's definetely done some.
Legacy and was used as soundtrack to a big extreme bike racing DVD or something like that. Always has and will be a beast, a true legend, last year or so he's been getting the respect and status he's always deserved. From RUclips to that metal show people get to witness a unique legend of music. Never stop bro
you people do realize that this man is 53 years old and hasn't gone "bluezy" or "country" like alot of rock guitarist? George continues to reinvent himself. I worked with him for a short while on the "monsters of Rock" tour in the late 80's and saw him again and spoke to him briefly at Static in Scottsdale. He's the same dude. His style is reminecent from the Bay Area club scene in the 70's and 80's makes sense since he was from Sac. Still rocks!
@jengasfrerer - that was a guy playing guitar out of his freaking mind. I've been playing guitar for 25 years and will never be anywhere near the level of talent Lynch has. It sounded spot on to me.
That's VERY untrue! As you can see, he alowed me to film the songs from the front row and to post 'em (check also his message to his Romanian fans). These ain't bootlegs! He also signed my CD's and we had a good time backstage. George is a very nice person, and this goes out to Don too (who shared his food with the fans, I saw it with my own eyes).
Just met him at a Sam Ash clinic in Charlotte, NC. He couldn't have been a nicer guy, and patient with everyone. A 16-song clinic, and he stuck around for everyone.
I saw him Austin in Nov '06 and he TORE IT UP. I was worried his fretboard was gonna catch fire. His drommer that night played for Black Sabbath in the 80's (I think). Anyway, solid show. Well worth payin' $6 a beer for.
No doubt it's a matter of taste! Lynch was great in his day and still has fans from all age ranges. I think that people that compare any style of music are missing the point. It's hard to be objective about a subjective matter. Unless your clearly out of key and have no sense of time. The bad is just bad. However no one in their rght mind can say that about Lynch! Anything anyone has heard as a musician has influenced them wether they know it or not! Rock on!
He started working out after a accident when renovating his house (broken back) Understandibly his back was very weak after that so he started to build a muscle corset to support it but i guess he couldnt quite stop at that :-)
I won't argue with your point. But I must say that some of his licks are pretty addictive, don't you think? He's constructs his riffs and melodies in a little different way from others. Never seen him live, never really liked Dokken but I like his style of shredds. It just hits something in my head that attracts me to his style (perhaps the sound?). But certainly not a fanatic about just anything he makes, either....
that's what you think but some people still appreciate what 80s metal and lynch isnt lame like itzmarkbtch said id like to see you do 1/4 of what lynch can do
Replying to ASTarantoga's dumb comment... This was at a clinic, hes doing exactly what his fans paid to see him do. Its not suppose to mean anything!! Not to mention the guy's 50+ years old here! looks and sounds great.
never witnessed him play with Dokken, but I heard of him getting slam drunk and the band not being able to play a complete set a few times. Any truth to that?
I hate it when people criticise him for his body building. any of them stop to think that its becuase he is in good shape that he is going to keep playing well for years? he is 54 and he doesn't look to be slowing down at all. look at don dokken. he doesnt' look so well and his voice has suffered for it (though really he allways had problems with it) don is thinking of retiring and george will be playing I imagine for years.
xms32... thers nothing wrong with being 17 :p but i agree with you... im 17 and im george lynches size, its not hard to get like that if you work out a bit. and you probs wud beat him up cos hes 53 haha....... bak to the playing, its awesome! Mr Scarys probs my favourite instrumental ever
Yep, I really like Lynch. A lot is personal taste. As far as 80's metal, this sounds like George Lynch jamming in 2006, so I'd say its NOT 80's metal. I'd also add that people that hate on 80's rock may not realize their fav bands of today were heavily influenced by musicians of that time. Just like the 80's guys were into the 60's-70's guys. Its a matter of taste weather you like this or not,, but its certainly not lacking in talent.
Yeah, true. Even if he did or didn't do roids. Who f..in cares? No one talks about all the other bands and coke, grass, heroin...ect. He's one of the best hard rock guitar players ever,..nothing more ...nothing less..I agree you can get huge in a couple of years with complete dedication.
@hxcmexi thats a pretty big call haha kinda funny to hear that. iv been studying music since was five, i play guitar, bass guitar, double bass, mandolin, amus piano, and 6th grade musicianship and theory, and i realy doubt im the best in the world at any of them. your right, he can change from one scale to another haha thats just fantastic, but theres no interesting rythmic or dynamic qualities at all, its all just as you said, scales, scales, and more scales. theres alot more to music than that
George Lynch may just BE god. Awesome. Another killer player from that era is Babylon A.D. guitarist Ron Freschi, and he's back with a new band, Syrym. Check 'em out at syrym[dot]com. They've got a new album coming out this summer.
@rrryanocerous-if the 80's is dead then how come tesla, poison, motley crue and so keep touring and producing new albums while selling out arenas? thats right, it's not dead.
@hxcmexi oooooooh its a jam, that changes everything!.................... theres nothing wrong with simplicity. if you're talking to someone, do you think they're going to understand what youre saying if you speak simply and slowly, or if you use complicated language and speak at the speed of light? just my opinion and what makes you think you can talk down on me? that seems a tad hypocritical i think im done talking to you sir, have a terrific day
Nice body workout..most stars with age getting fat and George you are in very good shape, that is so hard to do with some time has gone, not the drugs and beer, but sport and music..
you got more styles than lynch you say? i'd like to hear it. By the way, if you agree that we should all expand our horizon, why are YOU shutting out music from the 80s?
Sorry, but you gotta give it to George on this one. I saw Petrucci on the Prog Nation Tour '08 and while he definitely had guns...also a lot more body fat than Lynch. Get Petrucci to the same body fat level and his arms are going to be a lot smaller than George's. Lynch has a great build though, solid muscle through and through. I wish they'd invite him to G3 some year...then maybe you'd get to see him arm wrestle Petrucci on stage.
For crying out loud, the fact that the man ate some meat and lifted some weights does not equal him shooting roids. It just takes some hard training to get bigger, and over a span of 10 years, you have PLENTY of time.
He is still one of the baddest of shredders still around. He has a unique sound that differentiates him from any other player. Who cares that he decided to bulk up because back in his Dokken days he was a skinny mother fucker. He is bad as fuck!!
I think thiers alot of juice heads talking here ..He pretty darn good ...great player always was ...So what if Hes got muscles ? Good for Him..who Cares ..
agreed, but I heard don dokken early on in his career he was having problems on a CONSTANT basis with his voice...honestly the studio is what fucked things up. they should have let mick and pilson sing songs...don do back up, and don and george both alternate guitar on different songs...the studio forced don to put down the strings and just sing for image purposes (stated by don in an 80's interview) and him and george had so called imcompatable styles of playing (again dons words)
Man!! Look at those arms!! Has been hiting the ROIDS or what! Dam! However, I am glad his is sounding fairly well. However, without BMG and effects, he is not that good... Now I know i will hear from the Die Hard fans and I too loved the Old Dokken, but he is a studio musician if anything. Live, I have not seen him sound good and I have a lot of people that can back that up!
Completely Stellar Guitar Technique! George is amazing in sound & style ! I love his studio & live perfomances. One of the all time greats !!! I wish I only, could play like that ! Simply amazing !!!
That was as creative as it gets people,,, lynch is incredible, that strat wicked smooth tone.. , wow, simply amazing, who gives a shit what he shooting up
Goosebumps...
You can tell when someone is on juice by their skin appearance and complexion and after seeing George for the first time in 15 years, he's definetely done some.
LYNCH IS so GOOD! My idol!
thats badass
he's so buff because he does body building. Damn fine guitarist.
Just 3 songs from this show ? With Lynch, it's never enough !
Thanks. Very cool to see this!
Legacy and was used as soundtrack to a big extreme bike racing DVD or something like that. Always has and will be a beast, a true legend, last year or so he's been getting the respect and status he's always deserved. From RUclips to that metal show people get to witness a unique legend of music. Never stop bro
i love how hes so good at guitar, a real hero, and hes in really good shape!
Lots of babes. I saw George a few times at the Tempe Arts festival walking around.
One of my all time Favorite Guitarists!
It was at the "Frankfurt Musikmesse" (Europe's NAMM) and mr. Lynch played a 30 min. set
give george a break guys, hes the best ever since randy roads....Love to randys mom, but george is the best!!!
Sweet........he put the ending to the solo from "a breath to a scream" from the lynch/pilson CD at the beginning of this solo.
Love that stuff.
Vielen dank mann! Rock on!

George rocks! He seems so much more down to earth than the other guitar 'heros'
jioned his dojo,excellent!
KILLER SOLO!
Ein echtes geiles Video!
Wow. Awesome!

He was on Fire on this clip!
always impressive ... so damn creative
I call him home boy as he lives here in the Phoenix area too.
You're maybe right, no doubt... My "Back for..." is on vinyl too :D
so f**king awesome ... as alwayssssss,,, he is the man
That didnt take long! I get it. That's cool George lives near you. I like the Tempe ASU area. Great looking girls on that campus.
No, it was at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt.
always a exiting guitar player
Got a cool style
Just met him at a Sam Ash clinic in Charlotte, NC. He couldn't have been a nicer guy, and patient with everyone. A 16-song clinic, and he stuck around for everyone.
amazing and i love that guitar why wont esp let you buy them any more
George ROCKS! Anyone who says different, is just jealous. Plain and simple!
Ok, you're right about Crüe/Poison, but I know he's a huge early Van Halen fan!
he's the man, awesome player!!! looks like he's been hitting the weights again.
I saw him Austin in Nov '06 and he TORE IT UP. I was worried his fretboard was gonna catch fire. His drommer that night played for Black Sabbath in the 80's (I think). Anyway, solid show. Well worth payin' $6 a beer for.
Def just a jam song with no real focus but I love doing the same thing!Thumbs up George!
No doubt it's a matter of taste! Lynch was great in his day and still has fans from all age ranges. I think that people that compare any style of music are missing the point. super George :)
Pretty good performance.
that's what you think but some people still appreciate what 80s metal and lynch isnt lame like itzmarkbtch said id like to see you do 1/4 of what lynch can do
I agree with you 100%
was it that kickass workshop in cologne?
this is on his legacy cd!!
goddamn he's RIPPED!
Replying to ASTarantoga's dumb comment... This was at a clinic, hes doing exactly what his fans paid to see him do. Its not suppose to mean anything!! Not to mention the guy's 50+ years old here! looks and sounds great.

Jesus H. Christ he's ripped. He's a lot bigger than he used to be. Not mention he's one of the greatest guitarists ever.
Lynch Rules !!
hopefully one day i get ripped like that
THE PINCH MASTER!!!
BTW...Great stuff
Go Georgie boy, rock on!!!
Yes, that's the sad truth!

Holy shit !!! The Guitar God with us ????? O,O

xms32... thers nothing wrong with being 17 :p but i agree with you... im 17 and im george lynches size, its not hard to get like that if you work out a bit. and you probs wud beat him up cos hes 53 haha....... bak to the playing, its awesome! Mr Scarys probs my favourite instrumental ever

I guess you never heard someone playing boring... lucky you! ;)

what a great player, and hes fuckin ripped

Dang George Lynch is buff!
Keep practicing and you can and will play like that and then some.
indeed
i was talking in youre words, otherwise i was afraid you wouldnt understand :)
nice, what's he playing? looks like a strat with buckers?
erm.. he should beef up his legs.. they look skinny compared to his upperbody
Wow, i never thought that id ever see ANYONE call George Lynch a poser. Methinks the apocalypse is upon us.
you got more styles than lynch you say? i'd like to hear it. By the way, if you agree that we should all expand our horizon, why are YOU shutting out music from the 80s?

try some stanley jordan on for size and see if your head explodes
bottom line is saying bad things about someone who is obviously great is ridiculous, especially if he found out about it...hes huge
For crying out loud, the fact that the man ate some meat and lifted some weights does not equal him shooting roids. It just takes some hard training to get bigger, and over a span of 10 years, you have PLENTY of time.
Oh ya ? ... how about Al Di Meola ?
george fucking owns!!
"Bodybuilder?"
bet that right arm could crush a cranium
Sorry but Akira Takasaki of Loudness cleans this guy's clock.
He is still one of the baddest of shredders still around. He has a unique sound that differentiates him from any other player. Who cares that he decided to bulk up because back in his Dokken days he was a skinny mother fucker. He is bad as fuck!!

i've seen Lynch twice live and he was great both times. not a studio player ass.
lol yeah man its hilarious! or a a polar bear grappler
Ditto...
George is a cool cat regardless of these opinions
