In addition, personnel is everything. Don’t expect to to make a 77 ovr defense play like a 90 ovr. Slow corners will still get beat over top.
Also play rec and man coverage stats matter. Low stats on both and match coverages wont play as well. If you play MUT or CUT, early on match can get cooked cuz safteies dont have high stats in those 2 categories
I agree but that's where a beautiful add to the game would allow us from the coverage menu in game to tell our corners inside or slot corner to press receivers and outer corners play off but match.
Alabama’s Match coverage a.k.a combos is one of the most complex defensive schemes ever created. CFB25 match does it no justice. This is an awesome video though brother.
It’s not the defense. It’s 100% about AI IQ. The covering grass, and the FAILURE to pick up the man cutting across the field and pass a WR or RB from man to man as they enter zones or get close to entering zones. It’s EMBARRASSING. And that’s JUST ZONE coverage. Man Coverage is literally DISGUSTINGLY BAD! As a former collegiate DB the inability to jam at the line with INSIDE release against a SLANT is flat out sinful!
Hit the skills trainer mode on Madden, it teaches the in built game mechanics to do stuff like this, they don’t have it on CFB for some reason, but all the mechanics translate over. There is actually a lot of nuances built into Madden, but if you never learn them you’d have no idea how to do it. The AI doesn’t do them unless you manually shade or play the switch stick quick and making tons of adjustments pre snap can be extremely difficult depending on who you’re playing, especially in CFB vs Madden being much slower

In Palms th corner can’t play Meg because if 2 goes flat right now he has to cap the flat.
You don’t play palms tothe trip side , it’s more of a backside / single receiver call. It allows the safety to poach the trip side .
Rember Palms is theoretically a Man Match not really a zone match because no zones are technically declares the man that we play off of.

Really appreciate all of the bama content im a Bama grad and went to school there in the heart of the Saban Era (2014-2018) and grew up in Alabama so it’s been a treat to go out and ball again w my team. Your offense and mini scheme have helped me a ton, currently 45-10 overall and climbing in the All-American division.
A video suggestion I think that would help is you breaking down what you need to really hone in on in order to make deep runs to the natty in road to the CFP. Just maybe try and identify the things or defensive coverages and offensive schemes that the top players operate out of and try to show plays or give tips on what you can do to compete at higher levels.
The Palms rules are the same for every formation in the game!

Now a video on how to stop the people that abuse throwing to their HB’s & TE’s in the flats or mesh. Those are harder to stop than the deep ball.
Cover 1, play overtop (to avoid deep throws just in case) and then Put your lolb or rolb depending on what side the hb and te on and put them in a curl flat.
Been using your defense and been dominating I’m almost at campus legend.

Match is good while opponents are driving I use default in red zone it will leave combo routes open

What about Cover 3 Match out of the 4-2-5 package? I find a lot of success using it. I haven't tried using Quarters. I'll give it a look.
Quarters out of 4-2-5 is really good considering cover 4 plays the run better than cover 3 ever will. it’s just how it is cover 4 quarters works (best without any blitzing LB) Truthfully knowing the run fits with every play I call also helps to narrow down what you should call more. Just hold the triggers & press & hold O/B for right runs & Square/X for left side (hopefully you know this already). Doing this has helped me figure out which is better to run situationally instead of trying to guess run/pass. Coverage sucks anyway & you as a user have to pick up where the CPU is chewing you up alot so it helps knowing you can atleast stop one thing just by calling the play.

Does playing underneath or overtop affect how they play? I tried this and it seemed like normal zone coverage when I did those adjustments

If someone does that and motions their HB or solo receiver to the trips side then bye bye match rules

@@N0_Ex0ticthen automobile to quarters or you can just stick to palms. I automobile if I can. If it’s a 4 by 1, then I usually just user the safety on the solo receiver side and if the solo receiver doesn’t go vertical, I help out crossers or posts. If you watch the nfl a lot you can see that the chiefs run this a lot with Kelce or Rashee Rice as the solo receiver and have then do like a slant or out route. Either way you can’t take everything away
Does match coverage scaled off of man coverage stats or zone coverage stats?
Both
Because sometimes the player plays man and sometimes they have to switch/handoff players and attach to other guys in their zone.. so you need good personnel for this type of defense.

All you have to do to beat this is run short zone curls or run it. 3/10

Will shading up or down in zone coverage change the functionality of palms/match?
Say I wanted my slot defenders in dime to play a hard flat instead of a curl, I'm assuming my shift would override The match functionality?
Yah it would
@@deshunedwards5679 I tested it earlier and I saw defenders still matching despite my shading. In situations when they choose zone, they will be aggressive in the flats if you shade down, along with pressing. I've had mild success pressing then shading over the top. Gives the appearance of press man despite not being man, and no one presses.
Yes this should over ride all of your match coverage to the side where you now have a hard flat!

How do u turn on match coverage in ncaa??
Within the playbook when going through the plays in the top left corner of the play call there are different colors I don’t know all the colors since I’m not currently in the game but for match coverage the color will be purple

what do you do with bunch
You play bunch and trio the same with palms. Any 3 x 1 set you use palms any 2 x 2 set or 2 back set use regular quaters. We ran this style of D back in highschool and with athletic safeties it's dangerous. You can walk a athletic saftey down to show 3 and have him bail on pass to his deep quarter. It gives a 7 man box with actual good deep coverage.
Saban also likes rat in the hole/ cover 1 looks as well. Call cover 1 play underneath and adjust your outside corner to the inside. From that look you can mix in some cover 1 blitzing as well. Cover 1 underneath only on compressed sets
