    regarding fr de young's comments on charismatic-kenneth copeland types , wouldn't it be right to extend to all schismatics (from the eastern perspective)?

    Robert E. Howard tried to warn us about Sorcery. As in all things, be like Conan.

    I thought some of the Priests vestments were used to protect the priest! I only heard it one time, but whatever part of it, protected the priests from evil or such something to this effect!

    These things still are done in some place, where it’s an old thing, but the Appalachian mountains has stories of these people, where they can be found today!
    My granddad was known to find water for others even oil rigs looking for water supplies, called witching a well. Probably a skill all wild animals have, but withered in man where a stick may act as an amplifier!

    Dear fathers, please mention the history of your own church. Not everybody was doing it. This is true of the West but, e.g. in the Balkans in the Middle Ages, before battle, rulers and entire armies would pray and take communion.

    • @purestress2597

      Is that considered sorcery?

    • @faranov1
      @faranov1 Месяц назад +1

      @@purestress2597 Is what considered sorcery? Prayer and communion in an orthodox country is most certainly not sorcery. In European orthodoxy, there was no nation - wide apostasy and protestantism, which brought astrologers to courts. Majority of Serbian kings from the 'Middle Ages' are literally saints and are in the Orthodox Church calendar.

      @@purestress2597No. Magic is about manifesting your own will. Prayer and communion are about the will of God. When Orthodox pray before battle, they are praying for God's will to take place. That might mean losing. That might mean dying. Contrast that to A. Romans who made sacrifices before the battle of Teutoburg Forest. After that lose the citizens through tomatoes at the temple because the gods were supposed to give them victory, but they lost. B. Saint Lazar. Who chose the Kingdom of Heaven and proceeded to be slaughtered along with his army in defeat, and is one of the greatest Serbian saints.

    What an interesting episode. Fr. Steven mentioned Carl Jung, and that he started a cult in his house, and. . . yeah. 😐 I'm just wondering if you have a source or something for that?

      The Aryan Christ: The Secret Life of Carl Jung by Richard Noll.

      @@Harryhausen4 I looked at a description of the book and I'll say this. We know he dabbled in the occult and esoteric, and that's definitely problematic. The book description I looked at said that he believed that "he was a spiritual prophet" and "founded a neopagan religious movement," and accuses him of anti-Semitism. To start I'll post this: ruclips.net/video/DC0faZiBcG0/видео.html In the first minute Jordan Peterson debunks the anti-Semitism claim. Besides what Peterson mentioned, Jung literally had terrifying dream-like visions that were precognitive of the rise of Hitler, such as Europe being bathed in blood. Crazy, I know. Here's a source for that: The World Within: C. G. Jung in His Own Words, directed by Suzanne Wagner. It's a documentary. There are other sources with more evidence against his supposed racism.
      To clarify, I believe there are definitely things that are problematic about him. At the same time, I can definitely say that most of these kinds of claims are near ridiculous exaggerations, and I could go on and on, but I don't want to be over the top.
