I did not understand the concept...Ted Ed videos are really awesome, and I love almost all of them,so I thought mayb only I did not understand what he had explained....but as I checked the comment section,it turn out, many did not understand it as well.....
It's because it was explained in an incredibly confusing manner, or maybe because of that plus the fact that we all pretty much already knew what they were saying and it overcomplicated it so much that we think there's something we missed, when intact we already know everything in the video.
Short and ineffective. Too vague, but artistically well thought out. This is from the perspective who has little to no understanding of the Network Theory.
I cannot quite put my finger on it but this video really fails to capture the topic. I wouldn't use this video even to just introduce the idea because I think it plants the seeds of misconceptions that I'd have to fix up.
After reading the two top comments and thinking about the TEDEducation, I must conclude that these short films are kinda bullshit. They don't make things clear and the educators seem to make them simply for the sake of making them. Thumbs down, sadly...
So... what is Network theory?
This video is a vast oversimplification of what network theory is. I'm amazed that you'd jump to any conclusion about it based on this.

Could you have tried any harder to complicate a relatively simple concept?

Nothing about this video is thought-out, that's why it's so bad.
we should understand that networks are complicated and that actually we don't know how it works, it just keeping growing up.
the video was too short.
we need a sequel!
I have TedEd combined with Lumosity. I will be a genius in no time!
I didn't get it. Re do it!!
Exponential functions are also essential tools in understanding climate change, peak oil, the Limits of Growth.
Wait .. Logarithmically?
I thought exponentially was the right term.
Exactly my thought!
A logarithm is a map of an exponential function
he he... I'm glad someone caught that! I was afraid they wouldn't let me keep it in the animation! :)
love the animation
Don't forget Vsauce, MinutePhysics, NumberPhile, and much much more amazing scientific channels!
Wait, what?
I like your grammar. It amuses me! ^_^
what?
I think this uses a little too much jargon to be understood, at least by me.
Oh please, enlighten us on how one is supposed to "catch" Facebook.
Shouldn't it be exponential expansion? i.e start of slow then rapidly accelerate?
Entendí casi todo, pero si alguien pudiese subtitularlo al español, Este material seria un gran apoyo didáctico en clases de computo y variaciones :)
es curioso xd me mandaron este video en Sociología
the animation is cute but it doesnt really help make it clear..
im i the only one who didn't understand !!!
No
No you're not bro
I second that motion!

Best explanation ever...
They should not existent?

Awesome explanation! :D
awesome
"What Facebook and the flu have in common"
That only fools catch both ?
Lol this is classic but still relatable even to this day
1st cement
Yeah this was odd - such a narrow approach. Where is Latour and actor-network-theory?
And maybe, he didn't used simple examples that we can relate on?
very nice !! Ted !!
i like your video, give a new perspective for me !
What a guy
Those little figures are so cute
nope still don't get it :(
he didnt even talk about the flu im confused
3:10
He should have said six individuals or fewer.
I did not understand anything
Very confusing.

This sounds an awful lot like FM synthesis.

Lazyness is a virtue
"I feel like a giant in the midst of midgets." ~Neil Degrasse Tyson ( I hope you get it ;)

Yeahh...okay

Cool

I didn't get it, maybe I have to improve my English.
yfw the title of the video changed.
54 Thumbs up? 54? "Have bad for".
Go easy
hi guys
The animation in this reminds me of Dumb ways to die.
wassup
"everyone on average" ... "6 or less"
"6 or less" isn't a good way to speak about an "average" value :|
ALL I HEAR IS MOUTH NOISES
Um, I'm sorry, but I didn't learn anything from the video. At all.
For real
It's BS theory based on simpler BS theory.
I didn't watch because shaky camera effect is sucks.
i can hear so much mouth spit in the audio
2:23 Flatulence? How many people look up farting?
