Thank you for showing us a recent step by step guide of taking a havaist bus from the airport and also the tram station, where to get on from and where to get off as well. Thank you
In İstanbul dont use taxis if you dont have to. Taxi in İstanbul isnt safe. Even for locals. Out of İstanbul there is no danger but in İstanbul its a problem. İnvestigate public transport with Istanbul card. Its safer, cheaper and faster.
Thank you MJ. Your video blog was helpful to compare bus and metro trip from the airport. My Instanbul vacy is in August. I am an avid female solo traveler in my early 70s I need visuals for instructions rather than written. I wish you could be my guide throughout my journey. Keep giving us helpful tips! You're the best online friend!
Happy to help. Prices might be slightly different now for the bus but as I know from other people travelling recently to the city centre, it is still much cheaper than the taxi.
I just came back from Istanbul. Depending on where you are going sometimes the metro is more hassle. It was a lot cheaper but it took about 50 min from IST to Taksim square. Because the airport train does not go to Gayrettepe station, you have to connect two times (one you have to exit and enter a new station) to get to Taksim. Overall I would take the bus, but once the airport train reaches Gayrettepe, it would be easier on the metro.
Yes I agree with you. Once they develop the metro it will be the fastest and most convenient way to get to the city centre. For now though the bus is less hassle

Great video. So clear and informative. Thanks! I was wondering if anyone knew if the Sultanahmet Square stays open 24 hours a day or do the gates lock at a certain time, so as to prevent entry and exit to where the Hajia Sophia and Blue mosque are. If open, is there law enforcement presence there? I'm thinking perhaps some people may enjoy strolling the square late evening or so.
No problem. I am glad to help. Not sure about the gates at Sultanahmet though. As far as I remember they close the gates at some point but not sure whether all of them or just some
Hey, this was really helpful. I understand this is the cheapest way to get from the airport to Sultanhamet. We will be travelling with out luggages (full size) from the airport. Would you say it would be convenient to take the route as mentioned by you in this case? (considering there are multiple changes, going up and down the stairs)
Yes no problem. Luggage is included in the price of the ticket. I travelled with mine too. In the shuttle bus no problem at all. When you change for the tram it is the matter of 300m going with the luggage. The tram could be crowded though especially in the peak times however I don't see it impossible. People are generally nice so they will give you some space. But yes this is the cheapest option to get to the Sultanahmet.
@mjtravel566 bro your video is really helpful, can I take one large luggage bag(the one which is booked while boarding around 25kgs) and one hand baggage on of the buses from airport to hotel ? I won't be taking luggage on tram etc Thank you
Great video, helps a lot for planning a visit to Istanbul...Where do we buy the istanbul tram card and where do we put money on it? Also, which REGULAR sim card do you recommend for a small amount of internet during a five day visit to istanbul? =))
You can buy it in the ticket machine or in any place where they sell tickets, little kiosks. Regarding the SIM card I recommend airalo.com where you can choose the package you are interested in. It is esim which means you can install it on your phone and use it whenever you want.
@@mjtravel566 I was too quick with the ticket question, it was nicely explained in the video 😄 Yeah, i have read about eSims but would prefer a regular one, not sure which one though. Lets see, i might find something once there =))

Thank you for the useful video. A quick question, for the IstabulKart, should I purchase it at the airport or at the tram station or at Akasaray Metro station? TIA.
If you travel from the airport with Havaist bus you don't need InstanbulKart yet so you can purchase it when you get off the bus at Aksaray Metro Station. There are many places or kiosks where you can get it there either at Aksaray or near the tram station. You will need the card to get the tram or any other public transport. I hope this clears your question.
Thank you for this video. My husband and I will be traveling in few days. We are seniors (old) traveling with luggage and we are wondering if after arriving in Aksaray is it easy to get a taxi and how much does it cost to Sultanahmet square. Thank you again
Hi, it should not be a problem to catch the taxi from Aksaray to Sultanahmet. I am not sure of the price though but it is close so I suppose it should not be expensive to get there. Just make sure you agree the price with the driver before you actually get in. Thank you and good luck with your trip.
Hi, can you tell how to get ticket if we have to reach the airport? For eg like my hotel is on H6 route so do I directly board the bus or take ticket in advance?
Is there another way that's more disability accessible other than going down the stairs at aksaray metro area to get to the other side of the road? Thank you
Why taking the bus to Aksaray if you are going to SultanAhmet.. The last time in 2019 I took the bus from the airport directly to Sultanahmet Square. From there it was a just 8 mins walk to my hotel.. Is there any changes.
@@uddinbachun7970 As far as I know there were no direct buses to Sultanahmet from the airport and this was the fastest connection from the airport.
