- Trying out my new Sony AX53 in 4K Ultra-HD with the standard BOSS stabilizing setting. All shot were done handheld. I also used a circular polarizing filter for all segments. Recorded at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort in Gold Canyon, Arizona.

Wow, the image quality in good lighting condition is stunning. Does it easily blow out the whites? I've seen many where the dynamic range seems a bit low. Is there a picture setting similar to log, or high dynamic range? Is the cinema tone giving more dynamic range?

The main reason for this video was trying out the new camera's Balanced Optical Steady Shot (BOSS) feature. All other features were in auto.

1) is it true that this camera supports SD memory cards in NTFS format?
2) is it true that when we shoot with this camera a long 4K video in XAVC S on an SD memory card in NTFS format, the camera does not divide files every 4 GB, only one large file is created, which size is over 4 GB?

Cool video. What file format does the Sony FDR-AX53 save date as. .avi? .mov? .mp4? or you need a third party software to convert the video file and convert that file in order to play in youtube?

According to Sony, the file formats are: XAVC S format:MPEG4-AVC/H.264, AVCHD format ver. 2.0 compatible:MPEG4-AVC/H.264, MP4: MPEG-4 AVC/H.264. I then use a video editor like Magix Vegas, and save it as an MP4 for RUclips.
how is that a stabilization test?
I have a Sony FDR-AX33 4K camera. Suddenly stopped working, the display shows the error E 61:30. Maybe someone knows the problem? Thank you.

2 things i hate about the AX53 is 1 when im say filming a Common Buzzard in the sky and the sun is out even filming angled away from the sun i cant see a damn thing when using the Viewfinder and 2 the other day i must have turned the Focusing Ring no less than 15 times to manually Focus.

Thank you, I edited it on a PC with Filmora. At the time it was one of the few editors that worked well with 4K. I now use Magix Vegas Pro.
Lack of wind noise. Did you use a Rycote wind jammer?
+rob762x51 No external wind reduction. Just the camera. There is some wind noise present
Hi Bob..what is the best program to play my videos back on my Mac? My Mac is a 2011 model. When I play my home vids via quicktime or iMovies, they just never look as clear as yours?
Hi Paul, sorry but I honestly don't know. I don't use a Mac. But if you are streaming my videos off of RUclips and they look clear on your Mac, then that means you can see high quality fine. Are your own videos recorded in HD and uploaded to RUclips in HD? All of mine are recorded and uploaded as either HD or 4K. As long as your internet speed is fast enough you can set the RUclips quality to whatever the maximum it can generate at using the HD "gear" button at the bottom right of the RUclips window. Like HD or 4K. Also some browsers don't support higher speeds online for streaming. I use the Chrome browser mostly for viewing RUclips videos. Hope this helps!
Also, for playing movies on my computer locally (offline) either Windows Media player or Quicktime for Windows seems to work fine for me. Perhaps there is a newer version for you to update on your Mac?

Sadly there is a mall but slightly noticeable jitter with BOSS this model as pointed out by another reviewer...
+OnlineVideoSolutions I have noticed that too. it seems the BOSS does good in only one axis. Even a slight movement side to side can be seen. Still way better then my other cameras.

For this video I used Filmora (registered version). It was the only thing I could get to edit 4K smoothly enough.

Good video ! I like it ! But the stabilization part was partial, try to walk or run with camera ,that il will complete the stabilization test
After using actual 3-axis gimbal cameras like the DJI Osmo, this camera would not do well running. But, I wouldn't run with it anyway. The Sony AX53 is all about having stability for zooming without a tripod. I just can't believe that there hasn't been a version 2 or 3 out yet. its already going on 4 years old!
What's the best memory card to use that enables you to record both 4k and HD?
I used SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB memory (just to be sure) for 4K.

I use an older HP PC, with intel I7 processor, and and 8 gig of ram. Now days there are much faster computers available for 4K.

Here is the specs on my current (old) computer.

Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6570
Adapter RAM 1 GB
Processor Intel i7-2600 3.40GHz
Again, there are better computers out there for editing 4K. Anything with a good Intel I7, I9 or AMD Threadripper with 4gb or more graphis card will do far better than mine. Editing 4K is very hard and slow for computers. My computer can do it, but just barely. Filmora and Magix Vegas Studio are the only two that seem to work with 4K on my old computer.

Really? It's been Sony's main camera in that range since 2016. Maybe you can find one on Amazon or Ebay used?
@@BobCash Oops sorry commented on the wrong video☺☺. l was looking for the fdr-AX43 so was going through all the videos and was watching one after the other as it was on autoplay and I think somehow your video started playing and I commented on yours thinking it was the previous video I was watching. Sorry about that.😊 You are right..we can get ax53 here but not ax43 ..something to do with shortage in supply of chips?. Been searching high and low. Finally settled on buying ax700 which was also a nightmare to find. Finally found one yesterday and it's arriving today so I'm excited to try.

Inside the hotel in low light image is awful
+xmark40 I agree. This camera still has issues with low light. Although, when I walked into the hotel, the polarizing filter was on, and that might have added to the quality in low light.
I had to buy ax53 but probably opt for the AX100. When you pan you have to perform slower movements when painting indoors will be clearer. Regards

I A6000 and in low records well, but this is not a universal hardware and lenses are expensive and need to be replaced . Apparently a6300 has image problems . I had to buy ax53 but hit me AX100 . It has a 1 inch die and the best quality of cameras. I also RX10 and this is a good choice for filming and photos. However, I prefer the camera and sell RX10 .
I bought this camera and am not impressed with the documentation nor its capability. It is overhyped and requires you to purchase other accessories to make it as functional as I was expecting. One of the most annoying "features" is that it has to go through an entire turn off and turn on sequence with any change you make. How 1980's is that! The card that comes with the KIT cannot shoot 4K. I've also looked at the still images - crap - my Galaxy s% and s& shoot rings around that camera Even the Galaxy video seems superior to this camera. You also cannot listen to the sounds it is recording. Overproced toy in my opinion.
