Holding out to get what you want is a good idea. After all you might live in that apartment longer than originally planned. Don't get discouraged all good things come to those who wait
I got a co-op this year and agree with these tips. Co ops can get a bad rep but the vetting actually makes you feel more comfortable to be there and if you're a prepared person in general, copies of required forms and communication with potential references would come easy. Some apartments I thought I wanted earlier had an inconsistent board or questionable financials. Anything you're not getting early on means you're probably being spared in some way and the 'perfect' apartment can and will check ALL your boxes. Happy hunting!
In NYC, you are allowed to break rent lease legally if you are buying a home, based on my own experience. You don’t need to sign month to month lease on your rental place and pay more for that flexibility.
This was very informative. I learned a lot from you, thank you so much. I'm still in limbo deciding whether or not to move back to the city, rent or own. I have certain neighborhoods in mind . All I'm wanting is a view, that's my priority, anything else I can live with. Something facing the East River or the Hudson. I lived in Gramercy Park and E 51st before leaving NYC with my job. Now I'm retired and want to move back. Interesting , about all the additional fees involved that I didn't know about when buying.

Thank you! I’m willing to wait it out and it’s nice to know that I can at least be month to month

Hello! Which bank did you use to get pre-approved?
Chase!
When I bought my property the sellers paid the closing costs, so maybe see if that's an option
They pay the flip tax!
