Was stationed at Eielson and was transferred to Ft Wainwright for surgery in 68. Wow, how the base have changed. Glad to see updates.
I was stationed here from 2009-2011. I miss it a lot sometimes. I was so ready to get out and go back home to KC. I took the unique opportunity for granted wish I did more while I was there. Thank you for the video. Made me reminisce souch

In 1978 while at Fort Hood I was unexpectedly called by (then) MILPERCEN. I was given the choice of an infantry brigade in Northern Alaska or Germany. Although I was always interested in going to Alaska, I chose Germany because as a single Officer I thought Germany offered more alternatives. There was good and bad in Germany (personally and professionally). I always wondered what life would have been like at Fort Wainwright.
We are suppose to arrive in a few months. I’m nervous of the cold . Do you get used to it ?

Fort Bliss Texas has the largest PX of all U.S army posts.
Was stationed there from 87 to 91. Miss it very much. The Modern Commissary and PX today is very different from my time. It looks so much better. The barracks I stayed in was over by Monterey Lake and Santiago Rd. The GNC store is where the old Walden Bookstore was. I appreciate your video 'Keeping up with the Aguilars'. Thanks a lot!

@@BrightsideOfJustine The stories I could tell you about Fairbanks during the 1980s! But with the Internet the people of Fairbanks don't feel so isolated depending on how far from the center of the city they are. At 1 time, Western Union and the payphones was mass communication. So much of what I knew from the last time I saw Fairbanks in November of 1991 has either been renovated or is gone. Some of the old buildings are still there and barely recognizable to me. Even my old building which I used to call home AKA the barracks has been torn down.Your channel is interesting and looking forward to future videos.

thats so crazy we came from bliss last feb. i wil do a vlog this weekend when we get out of the house. im going to tell you its a culture shook not much hear. the mall i was in is the mall off post..

It really put psychological problems into perspective. When are forced to be inside the house especially with the government. SLEEP & REST IS A SUPER POWER .....you really get to see the psychological problems because you can run away from them !!!
Wow.. Both the PX and the mall have changed so much since 1999, when I was stationed there... I remember having to keep our vehicles plugged in.. If I'm not mistaken, I think there used to be a Burger King close to the PX, as well as a dental office, but again, that was like 23 years ago. lol
that really is so crazy to hear.
How was the moving process? Did you pack your own things or was it done for you? My husband is thinking about volunteering to get stationed in Alaska.

What do you recommend that we stock up on before heading up there?
Snow blower, cloths but wait till u get up here to get snow gear. But depending on when you get here I might just want to bring a jacket. The movers won’t let you bring food cleaning products or anything liquid.
