I think you articulated one of the fundamental differences between professions vs the trades. People in the trades will share information with the community, where “professions” like medicine, law, etc view it as proprietary.
I’m just getting started and learning myself so I don’t feel like I have a lot of valuable info in that category! I would say don’t expect to monetize for a long time. The community is awesome though and really supportive
@@WilliamDouglasCo You're doing great though! I follow a lot of Woodworking channels but find yours to be the closest to my motto and goals. I agree with the monetizing that might take a while. But I also think the content is priceless. There are RUclipsrs literally providing content that has no value but earning millions, while videos on a trade like woodworking can educate generations to come. In my country, South Africa there is a huge generation gap in terms of furniture designers and makers. Mostly order folk are doing it and younger people show no interest in it. Hopefully channels like your (and perhaps mine once I actually start it) will motivate them to pursue a career or at the very least a hobby in furniture making.

I also believe in sharing because nobody will live forever and the next generation doesn't seem to want to work hard. Volumes can be tricky. Everything sounds different before export. I’m realizing I need to review after exporting. New to this 😁
@@WilliamDouglasCo Your voice should reach no more than -3db, music around -12dB. So adjust your sound effects accordingly
@@PhilippTimokhin music -12 really? That seems low
@@WilliamDouglasCo well, when you have voice over, you want the voice to be more prominent. Went it’s just a b-roll you crank up that music. Check out some of Peter McKinnon videos. He has videos from a few years back, where he teaches some nice things about Adobe Premiere.
I think you articulated one of the fundamental differences between professions vs the trades. People in the trades will share information with the community, where “professions” like medicine, law, etc view it as proprietary.
I’ve never thought about it like that before
LOL how high, what a classic
The lack of value is so true and even more so in small towns it takes awhile for them to pay up for these pieces.
I believe it! But I also believe that we can change that 💪🏻
What would be your no 1 tip from someone wanting to also start a RUclips channel doing Woodworking?
@@hudlim001 I like that. Working towards a larger purpose. Contributing meaningful work. Helping lift others and working towards a greater acceptance of the craft is a humbling experience
Yup yup yup. Especially #2. Find a way to keep your integrity and passion. With 7+billion people on this planet, chances are there's some that are into whatever weird shit you're into. Not only that, but by standing up for quality and craft, we set an example for people who have yet to understand the personal and societal value of heirloom-everything. Woodworking, buildings, tools, records, etc...
Love that! No. 2 is my favorite one to preach. Be you!
I have a love hate relationship with woodwork.
Dang you cover some interesting tips in the video production industry! We are interested what you do, don't stop. Anytime you're in Arizona reach out. If you want, message us @dmakproductions on IG and we can chat. You kill it!

I’m a contractor and I’ve regretted every single time taking work out of my specific skill set to pay bills or keep a crew working. I’m not happy, usually the customer is not happy and I’ll end up pissed at myself for breaking my own rules.
It’s the way the world turns. Have to stay true to yourself
is it me or is the audio and video out of sync? In any case constant bitrate is your friend
What is constant bitrate!? It might be a little out. I forgot to clap before I started that first section so it was hard to line up
@@WilliamDouglasCo When referring to codecs, constant bit rate encoding means that the rate at which a codec's output data should be consumed is constant. There's a free program to fix these codec issues called Handbrake. I've used it on my source clips to not have audio sync issues.
@@WilliamDouglasCo Clapping or having a clap board is really important, if you see that the video or sound keeps falling farther and farther behind, its a bitrate issues, if not its an editing issue.
@@JesemanuelRamirez got it. Thank you 🙏🏼
@@WilliamDouglasCo Hey no problem! I'm a woodworker myself, love your work! I'm in the process of doing what you said in the video of doing what you love and not making compromises for money. I'm stuck with small kitchen cabinets because I needed the money, but I'm slowly getting my machines in the shop, just got a new jointer moved in yesterday. Looking forward to the next video!
The one thumbs down is an IKEA furniture owner. It's a joke folks...
Seriously speaking, Either client or craftsman- "Show me what you spend your time and money on and I'll show you what important to you/ them".
I definitely have some haters!
I also believe in sharing because nobody will live forever and the next generation doesn't seem to want to work hard. I'm hoping that at least someone will pick up my knowledge and use it and pass it on.
I also did Martial Arts for 40 years and even though I'm happy to teach it for free, nobody turns up. Few people come for 1-2 sessions and drop out and get back to their entertainment. I'm seriously worried about the future generations
Thanks for sharing have a blessed day in the name of Jesus
Thank you for watching!! Really appreciate it
Your intro is fuego amigo 🔥
What is the song at the beginning?...the freeze photo one that's been on a couple now. It's a banger.
It’s called “freeze” by Nbhd Nick
It’s pretty solid
U have the BEST intro music
Haha thanks man!! Glad you like it!
Build videos in the future? Artistic lectures are getting tired
Working on one now. It’ll be my first one
