I love old packaging. I think old packaging is so much better in almost every case. I'm glad that we've seen a return to minimalist, timeless packaging within the past decade - packaging back in the 90s and 2000s was gaudy!

I always get super excited when I see you posted a new vintage food video. Please keep them going! Very relaxing to watch after a long night at work. 😊👍
Loved the video. In 1960s, mother and I made jello. She would include ice chips in the cup of cold water, saying it cooled and gelled faster. There was a lot of stirring, even then with new product. I refused to eat it, though, and never eat it now. Grand parents loved the stuff, and they added canned fruit pieces. Brave of you to eat it.
Hey, we have some bowls just like yours! We had some plates and other dishware with the same design too. A lot have broken over the years though. We made gelatin for family potluck picnics and sometimes as dessert at home back in the day. The two most popular brands were Jello and Royal Gelatin. When making the dessert, sometimes fruit was added, and sometimes vegetables were added. They were always firm. When refrigerating, most people I knew added ice cubes to help cool it down and firm it faster in the refrigerator. That might be a reason why yours didn't firm up like the modern one. As for color, that could be related to different ingredients, although it looked more like Black Cherry in color than Strawberry. And of course, as you also noted, the old one was pretty old. It's remarkable the powder wasn't as hard as a brick.
We ate tons of Jello as kids and enjoyed it with fruit cocktail. It was something sweet to enjoy and more healthy than candy. Can't believe you ate that old Jello but why not right. Braver than me. Thanks for showing old houses and food items it's great to see so many things from my childhood. Btw, love your corning ware dishes. My mom had that brown pattern.
I really enjoy the comparison and tasting videos. The oldest food I have ever eaten is canned corn that was canned in about 1905. That was back in 1965. My cousins got a hold of a whole case of that stuff and no we didn’t eat the whole case. My brother and cousins ate a little more than I did. Wishing I had at least kept a can or two, the lithography was amazing. Our Mothers somehow found out and the corn went missing. They laughed about it afterwards.
Your video brought back memories of Standard Brands which I had a friend who worked for them back in the 60s and 70s. Among their other products were Fleischmann's margarine, Planters peanuts, Chase & Sanborne coffee and Curtis candies. They were purchased by Nabisco in 1981. This is an interesting video.
